Even if we lose the next 3 games?

Hard to imagine drawing off any magic from this season if that happens.

What if it ALL goes to shit?

I don't see myself going off the deep end if we crash and burn from here on out. But maybe, who knows. Generally, it's the time I realize this shit has nothing to do with real life.

Interesting stats this year:

Pat Mahomes 4th quarter + OT:
1,107 passing yards
7 TD
6 INT

Kirk Cousins 4th quarter + OT:
1,416 passing yards
13 TD
3 INT

Pat likes to get his work done early, sit back and hang out , while Kirk is a lazy mf and puts off all the heavy lifting till the end. Didn't you learn anything at all this past week? ha ha, me being snarky ... I promise to get better in 2023.

there is that 6:3 int ratio thing to consider, though

It turns out that even though you were trying to be snarky you ended up being accurate and correct. These stats are missing the most recent game in which Mahomes threw a 1st qtr and 2nd qtr TD and had a rushing TD in the 4th (guess that one wouldn't count for this anyway) and Kirk threw 1 in the 1st qtr and 2 in the fourth quarter.

Mahomes 1st qtr:

8TDs, 2 INTs 1083 yards

Cousins 1st qtr:

6TDs, 3 INTS, 833 yards

Mahomes 2nd qtr:

15 TDs, 2 INTs, 1355 yards

Cousins 2nd qtr:

7 TDs, 2 INTs, 1166 yards

Mahomes 3rd qtr:

10 TDs, 1 INT, 1237 yards

Cousins 3rd qtr:

2 TDs, 3 INTS, 711 yards

My 2 cents on Cousins this year.

The two biggest most consistent criticisms of him have been folding in crunch time and he makes too much money.

He has been money in crunch time this year.

He is 10th in salary among QBs. IMO he is outperforming all but 2(Allen, Mahomes) in that top ten.

Those are pure numbers for all the rest of the quarters that were left out of the earlier post. There's no minimizing or maximizing being done.

My expectations increased after we traded for TJ. A dominant TE has been a link most forget on recent Super Bowl winning and losing teams (Olsen, Gronk, Kelce).

Not many have seen it---Kwesi seemed too.

I forgot a couple on the list....Kittle.

Then if you look at 2018 Super Bowl (Goeddert and Ertz)

No it wasn't....it was meant to show how clutch he has been. That was the clear concept of it.

I wish he was clutch in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and then I won't have to shit my pants on the last play so often.

Za’Darius Smith signed a prototypical team-friendly deal in March when he switched NFC North teams and joined the Vikings after three seasons with the Packers. That contract had a low cap hit for the Vikings in 2022, only $3,343,136. For a star pass rusher, that is comically low.

His cap hit might be low, but he is earning a lot during his first Vikings season, $10 million, to be exact. The contract was a masterpiece by cap guru Rob Brzezinksi. In addition to his yearly cash payment, Smith can earn money via incentives. The Vikings added to his contract that he would make $500,000 after recording 8.5 sacks, plus an additional $250,000 after 10,5 sacks and another $250,000 after 12.5 sacks. With two games to go, Smith currently has 10 sacks after the first 15 games, so the next couple of games are important for Smith’s pockets.

The incentive was declared “not likely to be earned” because Smith didn’t meet those milestones in the 2021 campaign. Therefore, the incentives count against the 2023 cap space.

In yet another completely strange thing about the 2022 NFL season, it would appear that the Lions not only don't miss TJ, but are actually performing better without him.

WITH TJ: 1 win, 6 losses, 24.71 points per game
WITHOUT TJ: 6 wins, 2 losses, 27.38 points per game

Weird.

I was shocked we pulled off that kind of deal.

If it had gotten any tweet time in here beforehand, I would've been busting everybody's chops for living in fantasyland.

So Smith has earned $10M in 2022. $3,343,136 in base salary, could max out $1M in incentives. Where is the other $5,657,864? An unmentioned signing bonus?

Why would the Lions being doing slightly better without Hock?

Schedule got softer, Goff getting more used to the system, their defense playing better ? Are they running the ball more or better ? Are the other TEs better run blockers ?

I remember a Lions fan saying Hock was an average, or even below average run blocker as a pro, that he was great at it in college.

So maybe better run blocking, then better run game, has their defense resting a little more, so they're getting off the field quicker, or getting more turnovers, so the result is a little more scoring for the offense ?

In 2023 and 2024.

We're likely going to have to cut him and eat 3.3M in Dead Cap after this year or rework his contract.

POTENTIAL OUT: 2023, 1 YR, $10,000,000; $3,333,334 DEAD CAP

$6.45M guaranteed at signing (signing bonus + 2022 salary)
Per Game Active Bonus: $176,470

Cameron Dantzler is off the #Vikings’ injury report; he should be available Sunday, though it’s certainly appeared as though Duke Shelley will get the start at cornerback.

2023 is apparently the year they unveil the Sistine Chapel equivalent of masterpieces.

Maybe Phil will notice the "$10 million, to be exact" reference to Smith's first-year earnings here.
