the vikings' opponents are catching 75% of their passes, 2nd highest rate in the league - 70% of those receivers have three yards or more of separation, 4th highest....

it's amazing that we're still 12th in points allowed....

The thing I worry about is the Vikes haven't have the game where they seem to hit on all cylinders. I know we have more talent than the Chilly days but it reminds me of his first year.

The ST and OLine have looked great in all 4 games. We seem to play smart on the penalty front and outscoring opponents at the end of each half and as a bonus it seems we have had in edge on the coaching side in 3 of the 4 games.

Not the 2009/1998 juggernauts but they seem to have improved on the meh 2020-21 nots.

Oline did not look great against Saints

JMO YMMV

Probably their worst game, I am not concerned (except Bradbury), but I will not overlook a below average performance for 60 percent of the line

Agreed! The OL looked below average to me and remains a weakness on the team.

The oline struggled mightliy against a below avg dline.

Interesting the article says the Saints are last in pass-rush win ratio. But I don't agree the tackles are part of a "colossal" problem.

Another article in that site says Cook has lost his 5th gear. Posters have said it, I posted that he is still fast based on just a few short(er) runs. Really, he hasn't had much open field to show his speed. Is that on him or the OL or both? Clearly the OL bears a chunk of that responsibility.

What's more amazing is there are three teams who have allowed more separation of 3+ yards.

Darrisaw graded out pretty good per PFF 75.3 for this game. Don't have O'Neals available but sounded like he had his worst game of the season so far. but that's only 1 game out of 4. Our IOL has been clearly inconsistent from game to game and is the main problem. While Ingram has been up and down he had a 70 grade for this game and Bradbury/Cleveland stunk (but had been doing well previously). I wonder if NO's targeted these two vs Ingram?

The OL has been great in all four games except two of the four games and maybe two quarters in a third game and several drives in the fourth game

... but overall great.

Not juggernauts but not nots either.

One less dropped ball from Smith and Cook would have all his cylinders back and also look great, and the OL would look even more great than great.

"However, the Vikings, off to their best start since 2016, haven’t felt like a team rolling to a 3-1 record so far."

2016? In my memory, it feels like a 0-16 season (even though we won first 5 games and ended up 8-8).

But I agree 3-1 doesn't feel legit. 'Keeping pace' to maybe 6-3 near the halfway point would impress me more than 3-1 (even though its not quite as impressive sounding).

Power Ranking 9.

GB 4

So a team we smashed and 4 teams with worse records (2-2) ahead of us. Makes no sense.

They have a quarterback with a proven history of showing up when it matters. We don't.

That make any sense?

If The Vikes and their star QB went 13-3 three years in row and with no SB trophies to show for it I doubt anyone would be talking about getting it done when it matters most.

**** Rodgers.

We can revisit this conversation when Cousins gets the Vikings to 13-3....three years in a row.

The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly signed the man who was cut by the Chicago Bears when the team made room for Armon Watts in September.

That’s the NFL’s circle of life, and Khyiris Tonga is now a member of the Vikings, according to his agent David Canter.

Tonga is a large human, standing 6’4″ and weighing over 320 pounds. A nose tackle, Tonga appears to be heading for the Vikings active roster, at least for a while. He lived on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad until Tuesday, switching NFC teams to serve as a backup with Ross Blacklock to Harrison Phillips, the Vikings starter.

I did see Cleveland limping back to the huddle on one play so he might have been hobbled

from the daily norseman....

In addition to signing second-year defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga on Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings have made several other roster moves that we’ll get you caught up on here.

In order to make room for Tonga on the roster, the team officially placed Lewis Cine on injured reserve, as expected.

The Vikings also activated LB Ryan Connelly from the Physically Unable to Perform List. After Connelly was activated, he was waived by the team.

Minnesota also announced that they have terminated the practice squad contracts of defensive lineman Jaylen Twyman and wide receiver Travis Toivonen. Personally, I’m a bit disappointed that Twyman is gone. Perhaps he’ll be back in the future.

The team has also announced that they have signed safety Mike Brown to the practice squad. Brown spent the preseason with the Vikings and had some moments that he stood out but was ultimately part of the team’s final cuts.

Lastly, the Vikings have announced that WR Blake Proehl has returned to practice. Proehl, the son of long-time NFL receiver Ricky Proehl, tore his ACL during Training Camp in 2021 and has been recovering since then. As he has now returned to practice, the Vikings have 21 days to decide whether or not to place him on the 53-man roster. He can practice with the team during that stretch, but if the Vikings decide not to put him on the main roster he will revert to the PUP list and be out for the season.

With the moves and transactions over the past couple of days, the Vikings’ practice squad is now as follows:

QB David Blough
S Mike Brown
WR Dan Chisena
S Myles Dorn
OLB Chris Garrett
CB Tay Gowan
OL Kyle Hinton
TE Jacob Hollister
WR Trishton Jackson
RB Bryant Koback
LB William Kwenkeu
TE Nick Muse
CB Duke Shelley
DL T.J. Smith
C Josh Sokol

There is an open spot on the practice squad as things stand right now. We’ll see who the purple decide to sign to fill in that spot.

Agreed. 6th in pass block seems a bit out there as well.

While I agree that seems too high I don't think they're terrible either. Kirk makes them look worse by holding the ball too long at times and looking panic stricken at other times. The run blocking has seemed worse imo.
