Todd, I agree the offense has the potential to be really good.

That has made me fear it will be the defense not being aggressive enough, that will hold the team back.

You need to have a SB offense and SB defense at the same time.

Donatell getting fired after this season, or after the next season is not good as Kirk may be pushing retirement, and then you're likely starting all over with a young QB.

Couple more wins in a row and Cousins approval rating will be through the roof.

Some are chomping at the bit to hate on him but he hasn't given much room for criticism. One loud week after our only loss but generally quiet.

I'm trying to love him. I'm weak though. Ready to turn my back and feel I was right to not really believe. It could go really good for a stretch here and that'd get me bought fully in.

It really is a shame the defense is lacking...bc if you need both...we just don't have the horses.

I thought Hunter and Z could be other worldly enough to bend the curve enough to be excited about our defense but Donatell discounts our D with his schemes and lack of pressure.

Still a hater here. I read twitter and see lots of "look how he made this good throw" and "hey he hit his first read so whoopdaty-doo that he didn't see the open guy downfield or in the endzone" and I can't get past it. He's SUPPOSED to do those things. Those things are EXPECTED. I want to see him turn it up a few notches. And yes - I will add in that based on his contract he should be expected to elevate the team more than he has.

I think KOC's involvement and encouragement can squeeze a bit more out of Cousins. I think we'll be able to see the light come on so to speak. From slightly above avg to definitively above avg.

Whether we should have to hope to see it is another thing.

The Diggs trade seemed to benefit both the Bills and Vikings.

Let's hope the DaVante Adams trade has made both the Packers and Raiders worse.

The worse it works out for the raiders likely means it works out better for the Packers

KOC needs to clean up a few things on offense. Such as halftime adjustments or countering the opposing DC's halftime adjustments. We've been outscored something like 30-3 in the 3rd qtr.

What is positive is that he eventually does adjust by the 4th qtr as that we have some come from behind wins. He may need to anticipate what opposing DC's will do or change things up. Do agree with the poster that mentioned we should defer if we win the coin toss. But I do like opening a game on offense and scoring the first TD with a well scripted opening drive.

Feels like we've won every coin toss and deferred each time except for last week. I think we should start on offense more often

I like deferring much better.
Lets see what the flow of the game is and then get the ball first to start the second half. Potentially back to back offensive drives.
If you start the game with the ball first and the drive stalls, you put the pressure on the defense. If the other team starts with the ball and scores easily then you kind of know that you may have to be a little bit more aggressive.
I'd rather have that potential extra possession in the second half.

I hope so. The INT Kirk threw vs. the Bears looked a lot like Kirk trying to accommodate coaches and pass catchers that were telling him to look downfield more. Kirk's brain processed it as "throw downfield this next time". No dummy, they mean scan the field and take the best opportunity that's there.

It's like we knew sooner or later there would be a play against the Bears where Kirk would go downfield instead of checking down.

Was hoping it would be a play where the deep WR was open while the checkdown WR was well covered.

LOL, those are the words you used about yourself when you had your last outburst!

Right, I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong for acting like an ass. When's the last time you admitted to being in the wrong?

Got any Vikings related stuff? Some analytic reasoning to draw at least an opinion? Stats that could perhaps indicate something? Debate on a position?

Want me to post in a way that suits you, is that what you're saying?

Remember posting this about another guy around here:

Face it, you want the board to suit you. You've been angry about it for months. Sorry control freak, it doesn't work that way

You used to be on this kick about blocking people. You made a big deal out of it like you were somebody special. Maybe you should go back to it ... you know, if you can't just skim on by stuff that doesn't suit you

quote:

ORIGINAL: Bill Johanesen

Bringing up my background? More light emerges on the picture.

Tough shit! You don't get to act like the biggest jerk on this board and then make up the rules about how people respond. And wow, you of all people having a problem with people bringing up something you've said. Joke!

quote:

ORIGINAL: Bill Johanesen

Bully, this, and bully that.

And that's the rub; you think it's no big deal. It is a big deal. Your cavalier attitude regarding this manner is probably the saddest thing I've ever read from you. Too bad you don't have the empathy to understand that ...

quote:

But ok, if you really believe your post was innocent then I take back what I said.... about that post.

It couldn't of been more innocent. But no need to take it back, though - it wouldn't mean a thing coming out of that post.

Is 30-3 for real? I was trying to sort of conclude something from the 1st half vs 2nd half scoring stats. That is quite blaring.

Maybe when the 17 coaches have a couple of days to gameplan they do ok, but during a 12 minute halftime there are too many of them to make effective adjustments. Idle speculation.

Hey, where's the deputy assistant for end sweeps?

Uh, he's outside cause there is no space in the locker room.

So the 30-3 number is basically correct as it is 33-6.

30th on offense, averaging 1.2 points per game in the 3rd quarter.
27th on defense.

Outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum has been downgraded from “questionable” to “out” and will miss Sunday’s game. Wonnum was placed on the injury report on Thursday with an illness and did not practice on Thursday or Friday. This could mean that undrafted free agent Luiji Vilain will be active for the team on Sunday, which would be his first NFL game. Wonnum is a significant loss as he’s second on the team in QB pressures and has been very effective in getting after opposing quarterbacks this season.

The team has also elevated tight end Jacob Hollister from the practice squad to fill the TE3 role. The team signed Hollister a couple of weeks ago when Ben Ellefson went on injured reserve. We’ll see if he gets any action after rookie Nick Muse got no offensive snaps after his elevation to the same role last week against Chicago....dailynorseman

The Vikings are favored by 3.5 points over the Dolphins in Week 6. Miami leads the all-time win-loss series over Minnesota, 8-5 (.615). Too, the Vikings haven’t won in Miami in 46 years.

Forecast has a heat index of 87 degrees for todays game.

Probably even hotter than that down on the field.

Jacksonville and Miami have very similar weather (a quick google showed Jacksonville is the most humid state in Florida) and they don't go 6-0 or 8-0 in that hotter weather.

No excuses playing against Anakin Skywalker.

If you can't beat a team playing their 3rd string QB 12 wins is not going to happen.

The football gods have given us a golden opportunity and there aren't many breaks like this so we must capitalize on it.

Idk since moving indoors this franchise has more or less grown soft.
