I could see them losing at Miami, but still winning 12.

If you can't beat a team playing their 3rd string QB 12 wins is not going to happen.

The football gods have given us a golden opportunity and there aren't many breaks like this so we must capitalize on it.

Agreed!

The Vikings are 5-1, I know it hasn't been pretty, but maybe we aren't a pretty team. People will come in here and talk about how the Vikings should have lost that game, but thanks to 10 penalties, three turnovers and a long run by Cook, we escaped with a lucky victory. Well, someone from our team had to get the turnovers, someone had to block the Miami defense to allow the long run and penalties happen if you are not disciplined.

How about this, the Vikings have an entire new staff, new schemes across the board, and none of these guys played in the preseason. We are still figuring it out, but still doing enough to be winning. Would you rather be loosing and going through the growing pains? I'll take the ugly wins! Going to Miami and playing in an environment that we rarely play in is tough. We did it, we've made it to the bye week with a 5-1 record, not as good as I expected, so I'll be glad to take that. Our defense is a work in progress, we've got personnel issues as we try to run a 3-4 front, so it's certainly not ideal, but this team is far more entertaining than the past couple of years. SKOL Vikings and congratulations on a 5-1 start!

Well said Dana, I'll take the wins, fugly or not! It's definitely a rollercoaster of emotions each week, I guess that's NFL parity. This year we're winning the close games, which is definitely a change in mindset. Instead of trying not to lose them they are trying to win them, and they have.

It's not fait accompli that the team is experiencing growing pains. They could just as easily stay the same or go south before seeing Donatell as a minimum being fired at season's end.

- Cousins currently has a QB rating that would be his worse since 2013, with coaches he has been with before.
- We've played mostly doormats and teams without starting QBs, and have squeaked out victories or held on.
- Anyone can see the D, especially the pass D, is terrible.

We've been remarkably lucky on the injury front. We have played 2/3rds of our games at home or at a neutral site.

A lot of this boils down to personally not liking hollow victories. I'd rather they be 3-3 or 2-4 having played solid teams but seeing solid progress by a young team. Conversely, it's not easy to win in the NFL so here's to hoping the team can gain some confidence over the bye week.

Positives: Win, Z, Jones, Hunter, JJ, run defense, Cook, PP

Neutral: Cousins, Thielen, Smith, Bynum, Hicks, Punter

Negatives: Soft garbage zone , OLine, Joseph, being terrified of Hill and playing like it. DTs(edge guys pushed Teddy up in pocket majority of time and no one was there to sack him)

Well, I for one am happy as hell to be 5-1! Could we be better? Who the F couldn't!
Enjoy the moment and take the week off.

That is one viable way to look at things. IMO KOC should give the players and coaches an extra day off. Yeah they need the extra prep time but it's fine to reward 5-1.

Yep.

Offense has the pieces to get a lot better. Just a matter of getting more comfortable with system.

Defense will be more of a challenge. Maybe if Jones, Booth and Asamoah come on to add some speed and depth, we can improve. But, we are going to play some better QBs/offenses so not sure if we can be above average or even average.

STs have been solid.

Taking the 5-1 thing to the hilt even with a team with big warts, you get a playoff bye. Then over three games you gel, peak, hit the zone, whatever and with a bit of luck thrown in you've won the SB.

Ten punts averaging 44.1 with a total of TWO return yards against and you rate that as neutral? You did that just to see if I’d reply right?

Can we all agree it’s awesome to be 5-1 and it’s awesome to win? I really don’t think that’s up for debate.

Concern: Donatell and his pass D. Yuck.

Concern: cousins. Particularly his feeble yards per attempt and yards per completion. Dude panics and checks down a lot. Yes he makes some good throws about once every three series or so. We’ll duh in this passing league that’s not a hope it’s an expectation. You can’t give a franchise qb contract out and then be content with minimum results.

watching the GB highlights, Rogers really got pummeled. The Jets front 4 is pretty good, and the back 7 aint to shabby either. They blocked 2 punts (1 returned for TD) and a FG too. Any cushion in the division we can get is well received. Win the division and let's see how the playoffs go.

The 46 yr draught is over, and our rookie coach has more wins than theirs, neener neener. I hope we get today's Bills for our game, they are playing like balls too.

Are you serious? That's you and Bill's war. Keep me out of it.

But, yeah, he should be in positive category.

Sounds like watching such football would have been even better than the best thing ever if there were not bitching folks around you.

Were they bitching about Miami?

Their STs blocked two punts? Returned one for a TD? AND blocked a FG?

Sounds elite.

We've been doing stuff like that for weeks.

Sorry if I was a negative Norman in the game day thread, these games get me amped up and unless we're winning handily I get in frustrated fan mode pretty quick. I remember not to long ago there were no sports and we were isolated in the middle of the pandemic. I remember after what seemed like ages, there finally was a game, I think it was the Yankees were on TV (and I hate the Yankees) but I literally had tears in my eyes, thankful to have some sort of normalcy return. As amped as I get for the games I remember what we just went through and I'm happy to be back to some kind of normal, complaining about my favorite team. Skål Vikes, du är fantastisk!

Love the new punter. I don't think old regime would have made the change because they would be worried about FG holder. Good job KAM and KOC.
