Gee Keuchel is terrible

No one saw that coming.
Absolutely no one.

Can they see if Steve Carlton is still around? Joe Niekro?

Shades of 87

Matt had him penciled in as our #4 playoff starter.

I get that you think we traded Arraez for Gallo. But you're a popcorn eating emoji away from turning into Phil with this one...

Joey Gallo has hit .149 in his last 75 games, which is the worst batting average by any player in #MNTwins history over a 75-game period.

Drew Butera was the previous record holder with a .152 batting average over 75 games in 2011.

and yet....he is still in the lineup. SMH

Admit the mistake and call someone up.

He's a guy most of us questioned why we signed him, only one person here was really excited about it, and no one wants him on the team anymore.

He also, in no way, replaced Arraez on the roster.

So I don't think this particular bait is as effective as you think it is.

"Oh no, the guy we don't even want isn't playing well..."

Very impressive

Whatever Gallo ate before the game, he needs to repeat. Holy smokes, 4-4?!?!?!

Joey Gallo is not worth the time and angst that is being spent on him. He was NOT signed to replace Arraez. He was NOT signed to be the heart of the offense. He was signed as a one year stop gap while kids like Wallner, Larnach and Kirilloff transitioned to MLB. The Twins knew Kirilloff would not be ready to start the season at 1B. The Twins knew Larnach was inconsistent and injury prone. The Twins knew Wallner had only a handful of AB in the bigs. Gallo was brought in to be an ugrade to the Jake Cave / Kyle Garlic dynamic duo and has done that.

Yes, he has a terribly low average. Yes, he strikes out at a maddening rate. Mixed in with the low average and k's is production. He draws a lot of walks. His OBP is 120 points higher than his average as a result. He does hit for power. Gallo is on pace for close 30 HR this year. He is a very good defensive player (2X gold glove winner).

I didn't want another feast or famine hitter either, but that's what we got. I can't rip Gallo for being what he has been for his whole career. Aggravatingly inconsistent as he is, he is not the problem with this offense. The problem is both Correa and Buxton are hitting at a level where there OPS are 100+ points below their career levels. They are supposed to be the heart and soul of the batting order and they are both less productive than Gallo. THAT is the #1 problem with this offense.

Here's the one time i'm gonna side with Angel Hernandez. Just catch the damn ball and it'll be a strike instead of pulling your mitt up a foot to try and deceive him - you don't think he can't see that? Catchers fault not Yankee bias is what it looks like to me

- Nice win Twins

- I'd congratulate certain players on a nice game but Brad doesn't need any future fuel to try and get under peoples skin.

As of today, Gallo’s OPS is a whopping .003 below the team average and .007 below the MLB average. But yes let’s continue to obsess over him.

And meanwhile the guy we did actually trade Arraez for? If the season ends today he’s my game 1 playoff starter, hands down. So there’s that.

Currently #6 in IP and #3 in strikeouts in MLB.

He has three wins against teams above .500. Phil's sabermetrics don't tell you that.

Bullpen has given away about 3-4 wins for him.

Basically the trade was Lopez and Julian for Arraez. Julien is in the minors if Arraez is here.

Win Win for both teams. Move on.

It's no different than Arraez getting a hit off a mediocre/high ERA pitcher. Are you tracking those ABs?

That couldn't be more pointless. That says as much or more about the team's inability to score runs against winning teams or the inability of the bullpen to hold a lead. W/L is poor way to judge starting pitchers.

But apparently you've learned a lot about moving goalposts from him, so there is that...

Umpire Angel Hernandez missed 15 calls in the #Yankees #Marlins game and was the day's lowest rated umpire.

He remains dead last in correct call rate this season.
