I’d like to see Castro in there too. He’s been a pleasant surprise.

But I ain’t complaining. I feel more confident in this team’s playoff chances than any team since 2002. And maybe even more than them.

Don’t care about records. In years past I entered playoffs with a feeling of dread. This year seems different.

Short series. Anything can happen. But my chance of Twins breaking the losing streak. 95%. Chance of advancing, 80%.

The reason I think we have a shot is that Julien, Polanco, Lewis, and Wallner are patient and will draw walks. Gausmann doesn't want to throw his split finger over the plate.

I see this as the best team they have put together since 91-92.....92 may have been a better squad than 91.

I noticed how many of his splitters bounced yesterday. There were some rumors on MLB Network last night that the Twins knew when the splitter was coming. Whether it was tipping pitches, stealing signs, or....ahem...other means...who knows? We did get his pitch count up. But it kind of shows how good he is that we still couldn't get more than 3 runs off him when we knew what was coming.

Not sure if you were at the game or got the national broadcast but A-Rod brought it up several times. He was pointing out how the hitters were just standing there when it was a splitter and not even moving to get caught by it. He, basically, pointed out the difference in body language when it was a splitter versus a fastball.

Well. how would they steal signs nowadays? The whole buzzer thing made that a lot more difficult. He was likely tipping his pitches.

We hit him harder the last time we saw Gausman.....

That’s what I assumed. Not a matter of ‘cheating’. More likely they’ve picked up something in his motion, grip, stance etc. to indicate when a splitter is coming. If so, perfectly legal.

But then again, we do have Correa on the team, so who knows?

I loved Pablo Lopez wearing a Johan Santana jersey to the game to help get in the right mindset. This trade is working for the Twins.

It’s one of those trades that truly worked out for everyone.

Love Arraez, and the Marlins got themselves a batting champion. But anyone who didn’t want the trade must then answer, how would you have modified the current lineup to accommodate him? Who do bench? Lewis? Polanco? Kirilloff?

The Twins had a surplus in one area and a need in another. Gee that sounds like a trade opportunity. We got a game 1 playoff starter who ended a 19 year drought.

A fantastic battle of overmanaging in both dugouts in bottom of 4th ends w/ Twins leading 2-0.

Berrios looked like he could’ve gone 9 innings of 3 hit ball today.

Castro has been underwhelming in a couple of pinch hits.

Clutch double play with bases loaded to end the 6th. To be honest I thought this is where we blow it.

Congratulations to the Twins and their fans. 21 years without advancing in the playoffs has come to an end.

The change I would make next game is start Vazquez over Jeffers.

Correa with another big play in the field and a clutch rbi hit. This is why they signed him. His leadership is real obvious in this series.

A hat tip to John Schneider for helping us out in one of the worst pieces of over-managing I have ever seen in my life. Berrios was dealing and he yanked him for a lefty in the 4th inning. The clever idiot decided he would rather try to flip the Twins batting order and come back with a righty. Somewhere in Target Field Tom Kelly had to be shaking his head. In the playoffs, you never pull a starting pitcher on a roll.

I liked Gray's outing. He didn't really have it today, but he battled hard and kept winning those battles. A good veteran pitcher who just kept grinding it out.

The big difference in this Twins playoff team is the bullpen. I can't believe the collection of power arms they suddenly have. Thielbar throws low to mid 90's and he is the rag arm of this bunch. The rest of them, one throws harder than the next, peaking out at Duran at 101+.

Took too many years, but what a wonderful playoff series!
Pitching was very clutch! Some great defensive plays and good use of the bullpen.
Twins Win!!!

Hope Jeffers shakes it off as he is a better hitter but Vazquez has the experience.

Wonder if Brad H will come in and try to convince us pitching isn't important in the playoffs.....haven't seen him post for our 1st two playoff games or the last month of the season in this thread.

The Twins go for their first playoff series win since 2002 today with this Game 2 lineup:

1. Too obvious to even say 2B
2. Polanco 3B
3. Lewis DH
4. Kepler RF
5. Kirilloff 1B
6. Correa SS
7. Wallner LF
8. Jeffers C
9. Taylor CF

Gray RHP

With the exception of the starting pitcher, it looks Identical to yesterday's starting lineup.

No, it was not the same. Rocco brilliantly moved Wallner up to 7 and Jeffers down to 8.

Why?

Vazquez might get one start in a 5-game series. But I'm not sure he should.

Matt what is your thoughts on pulling Berrios in a Rock Head moment.

My surprise was the lefty warming up in the 2nd inning.

My surprise was the lefty warming up in the 2nd inning.

It was pre-planned by the Blue Jays. They wanted to use all their bullets.
