Why Cleveland at RG? He was even worse on that side.

I thought he was better at RG (Ezra), but my memory is fuzzy.

Mostly because Risner has played primarily LG

Ian Rappaport is reporting that the Vikes are signing Dalton Risner.

Finally, someone to replace Cleveland!

Honestly, that's a distinct possibility.

If Darrisow isn't ready to go, they probably kick Ezra out to LT and Risner and Ingram are our Guards.

Oooph,
I hope not.
Rather see Quizz at RT/ moving O'Neill to LT
Risner replacing Ingram, but Ezra at RG/ Risner at LG

Ezra was a 3-year starter at LT in college and his rep has always been that he's a really terrific athlete, but not nearly strong enough. Maybe he'll do better at OT?

This is a little scary:

The only right guard snaps Risner has played in the NFL have come on special teams.

There is absolutely no chance of trading Cousins to the Jets.

Its ridiculous.

The Jets have no draft flexibility after Rogers.

They could trade a player(s) but why in the hell would Cousins agree to the trade?

There are only two possible reasons from Cousins' angle ...

Because the Jets are better? Maybe. But switching to a new team in-season on the possibility – a strong possibility yes – that the other team is better IMO is not near enough for somebody that's just invested his whole offseason with teammates and coaches preparing for the season. There are things about Cousins I really don't like but if there was a standard for a team player / company man ... it would look like Cousins.

Because the non-extension this past offseason was a slap in the face somehow? Maybe. I could see him going to another team looking for stability at the position, extending him in a sign and trade thing while a smart GM takes shots at drafting and developing a long-term starter. I don't think that's the Jets ... I think their whole franchise and fanbase is invested into squeezing Rogers for another year or two. I can't see Cousins uprooting for this 15 game uncertainty over the Jets 15 game uncertainty, i.e., playing under the Rogers shadow - especially with him crowing about being back for the playoffs.

Even though the 99.9% writing on the wall is that Cousins will be gone next season, I doubt its an absolute certainty in the minds of Kwesi, Kevin and Kirk. Regardless of the numbers.

If Kwesi and Kevin can find a way to lean on their Cousins crutch for one more year ... they'll do it. Whether they draft a QB or not. I just don't have confidence in them NOT doing something dumb and moving past it ... until I see it.

I think you are right, but it is (was?) an interesting topic to broach as it is at least feasible and has been on nationally (well, Greenberg the NY fan and Taunnenbaum). Probably the main reason why it won't happen is Cousins not wanting to disrupt the family either by everyone moving to NY or him setting up a bachelor pad.

He claimed though he has the numbers, he has the contracts, and the only thing left was winning big. Plus with that Netflix series, is the inner Kirk coming out and thinking about one of the NFL shows? NY isn't a bad place to build those connections. Actually I think he'd be good at it if he doesn't get too technical.

With 3 seconds, Mahomes (or Caleb Williams) would likely make throw, run, or take the sack without fumbling, at that important point in the game.

Jay Cutler or Kirk Cousins more likely gets hit and fumbles at that crucial point in the game. It's lack of pocket presence, and lack of realizing you need to be ready to be hit.

What is concerning to me, is that the team seems blind sided by the idea that Ed was going to suck.

There was absolutely no reason to hand the starting job to him this year

I also hated the Bradbury extension

I can live with Cleveland being the worst lineman...I hate that there are obviously two worse, and it was ignored

Well, now you have Schlottmann and Risner in the mix.

I didn't see the rankings but the 3rd string LT seemed better than Udoh.

Although ... he has been trying to go against type lately with the whole shirtless, gold chain thing.

Maybe you're on to something, maybe he's planning ahead for a media gig. Now that the bottomless cash flow in MN is drying up.

Darius Slay on Justin Jefferson, following their week 2 matchup:

“Dude is amazing man... I've only seen one other receiver do what he does. This man never comes out the game. Only other dude I've ever seen do that is Antonio Brown.”

“Last year I had a great game against him. I can tell you for sure, he had this game (week 2, 2023) circled, because buddy was locked in. He wasn’t talking as much. I tried to tell him after one play ‘good route,’ he ain’t say nothing. He ran right back to the huddle.”

Well, at least signing Risner indulges the ‘course correction’ perception and the ‘grass is greener’ urge that I and a lot fans hyperventilate about ...

What I do remember is hearing about Cousins’ covert scouting missions looking the best family environment before signing with us. I just didn’t realize he had already adapted his hip hop alter ego to fit in with christians, infidels, teammates, etc.

I have not seen this much polarization over a QB in Vikings colors since Butt Favrey, came here from the jets..

Anyone remember Art Forte?

Lost him to the cheese stank, and he want the only one..

0-2 is 0-2..

I’m sick of “but that’s not on KFC, at all…”

Excuses are for losers, which this team currently embodies.

I doubt the Vikings can pay Jefferson and cousins.

Problem is you have to hit on a QB right away.

No WR can carry a team without a quality QB.

Such a weird season and offseason forming just two weeks in.

The first game was a ton more to blame (for Kirk) then the 2nd. JJ, Powell, and Mattison joined in on the Turnovers.

They are 1 game out of first.
They will pay JJ and wait on Kirk unless he reduces his ask. He already has been paid and will be 36 during next year.
QB doesn't need to be hit on right away; draft multiple next year. Arizona traded for Dobbs and he looked pretty good on Sunday.

This team is getting it's ass kicked on both lines and until that issue is resolved it doesn't really matter who we have at QB or WR.
Time to completely rebuild both lines and add skill players from there. If we can somehow keep JJ happy while that is happening great, if not make sure we get max value for him before he walks as a free agent.
As for Kirk, if we can't afford him and JJ I prefer to keep JJ and use a plug and play QB like Denny did almost every year.

I think you add Akeem Hicks and maybe another OG to give us a chance....short term no matter what.

By dragging his feet JJ is now going to be more expensive enlight of the Bosa 34ml avv deal.

Kwesi should have extended JJ the minute he became eligible for one.

Losing faith real fast in Kwesi.

signing a contract now is a bad idea, and it won't stop jefferson from asking for more money in a couple of years...look at hunter - he's been a threat to hold out every season, and we've had to restructure his contract several times...jeff could do the same when another wr is making more that he is....

we should wait until next off-season when we know better where we're going with our quarterback situation...if we decide to trade jeff it would be better to do so with a clean slate contract between him and his new team....

also, i'm thinking that the hang-up with his deal has been the 'no-trade clause' - jeff wants one, and it would be a huge mistake to give him that power - easier to trade him without the baggage of an existing deal....
