He is medicine for the wrong disease.

He certainly is no cure all.

I think he can help though...

good blitz pickup
i think he'll eke out more yards than mattison... seems much better on quick decisions and making guys miss
looks decent in pass catching too

All that said... he is a decent back on an offense that needs blocking

Small sample size. I liked Cam Akers before. He's young and I think talented. However, since the Rams soured on him maybe something is wrong. I hope it took a 6th round pick or less.

I would like us to take a pass-first approach and let the passing game open up the running game...quick, shifty running backs that find the creases...the oliver money would have been much better utilized on interior linemen - O and D....

Seems odd, he likely won't be a contributor on Sunday and IMO the season is over if they lose Sunday.

We gave a 6th and they gave us their 7th in 2025.

That doesn't seem like a whole lot. How 'bout numerical order in what he is costing us against the cap? I assume that number isn't too high on the list is it?

Is there a player we could bring in on short notice and make a difference on Sunday? Win TO battle and win game.

He's(Akers) a talented guy who needs a change of scenery. Nice low risk move.

The draft exchange for Akers means little, shouldn’t effect draft maneuvering next year … which should be priority one for this franchise.

To me at least, feels like Gaskin was signed to address Nwangwu’s health / Chandler’s effectiveness (odd in Sept.) … while Akers is more a starting rotation guy (odd in Sept.).

Not likely but in a best case scenario, Risner sets off a nuclear fission chain reaction that slightly upgrades one G spot and mildly effects the C position. Thus creating a small tear or rupture in the defensive barrier that our legions of RBs can permeate through. (I think ‘penetrate’ too strong a word)

True, if that’s the first step. If that’s KAM’s “haha, I fixed the running game problem” he just ended the season.

True but it seems a little bit like the, 'why worry about your beard when they're about to cut off your head.'

So you’re saying; we have to worry about risner’s G-spot?

Random factoid:

Ben Powers, the guard the Broncos signed to replace Dalton Risner, played at Oklahoma and was selected 9 spots after Dru Samia, also from Oklahoma, in the 4th round of the 2019 NFL draft.

We have to worry about both G spots and our C.

I'm glad we signed Risner ... as I said several times weeks ago, IMO it was a no brainer.

The law of averages almost prohibits him from being worse than Cleveland or Ingram (I'm not even sure where they're going to put him).

That being said, there's no guarantee if / when he's going to fit in. Not all FAs meet expectation.

I'm looking forward to seeing if / how much of a difference he makes.

You're a year early.

Per the Vikings, the specifics of this Cam Akers deal: the Vikings send a conditional sixth-round pick in 2026 in exchange for Akers and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2026.

Los Angeles is sending Akers to Minnesota via trade, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday, per sources. The Vikings will send a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for Akers and a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick, the teams announced later.

It appears that another "high risk" Kwesi move (Davenport) DNP today will likely miss his 3rd straight game.

At this point in his career I think Davenport has missed more games than he has played.

Kwesi needs to quit shopping for players in the hospital.

Overthecap and Spotrac are two sites that have cap info.

hmmm

He was pretty good last year...

Akers was the Rams’ second-round pick out of Florida State in the 2023 NFL Draft, which means he’s currently in the final year of his rookie contract. In 2022, he started nine games for the Rams and ran for 786 yards and nine touchdowns on 188 carries. This year, he had 29 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in the Rams’ season-opening win over the Seattle Seahawks but was inactive for their Week 2 contest.

You were 2 years early in your quote.....2021 was when he was drafted.

He's guaranteed $2.25 million. If market value holds any weight, not expecting a whole lot but hope he pans out. Decent low risk move.

Akers is also a good low risk move. As one site said, the pick swap is the lowest you can get as far as value difference while still complying with NFL rules. Very low cap hit as well.

Simply a pair of moves that could pan out, no more, no less.

It's time for Harrison Smith to sit out an occasional series. He looked horrible at the end of Eagles game.

We have all kinds of safeties on the roster. Try to keep him fresh for the big moments.

I apologize for the typo.

Fortunately it had no bearing on the germane information, unlike some other posts...
