Battle of the "oh and threes" this weekend, leaving two winless teams left. The race to the bottom continues.

We're not winning that race, Nate. No way!

Now he has add the "leading to touchdowns" to that stat and we are in business.

Example of insanity: An 0-3 NFL team not doing everything in its power to get the #1 overall pick to draft Caleb Williams.

Don't trade JJ.

Send 2 number 1's to get Caleb

IF they end up top 5 pick

An offer of two #1s, even one being a top 5, won't even get in the door. Maybe the only way to get the #1 is to lose out.

Then I'm insane.
Im not rooting for a team ive rooted for my whole life to lose so i can get a player that guarantees nothing. Nope. Id rather quit watching. Actually, sports gets less interesting for me every year. I suspect this mentality has a lot to do with it.

Great! Enjoy!

Speaking of a player that guarantees nothing, that applies to Kirk Cousins. And he has a 12 year track record to back it up.

Of Caleb's 6 TDs today, I like the 4th one that is kind of a quick sidearm toss.

He may be the first of many QBs who have been spending their own time trying to throw like or emulate Mahomes, or at least adding to their repertoire by throwing sidearm, the opposite direction of his scramble, no looks, etc.

He also said he credits his parents for sticking him in a bunch of different sports which help him with his movement, balance, throwing, etc, similar to what baseball did for Mahomes.

I really, really hate the losing, don't get me wrong. But we're devoid of talent in some critical areas, and when there's a QB out there with the potential of CW, I can take a year of maximum suckage to jump start that next decade of hope. I'd love to see CW, JJ and Addison on the same team, especially if we can figure out how to get the OL improved.

Defense is a WIP. We whiffed on draft picks, pruned expensive vets and don't have a great fit between scheme and players yet, or maybe it's just that our players don't fit any scheme lol. I like the aggressiveness though. We have to draft better.

I can't cheer against the Vikings once the game starts.

But my subconscious mind is actually hoping the game is competitive, but that the Vikings lose, believing Caleb Williams is really something special, and would turn around the franchise, making O'Connell look like a genius.

Before each game, want the team to win each game. Even though that success is hurting our long term prospects.

Would never hope to lose or tank to improve my draft position ... until maybe the last few games of a miserable season.

The idea of watching a poker game full of sharks and strange talking math savants ... hoping that Kwesi drafts a royal QB flush ... that's not likely.

Not much better than hoping Cousins goes on a SB run.

Neither are reasonable possibilities. Both are extreme long shots.

It's early. Denver beating Chicago today helps with the strength of schedule tiebreakers. But that also means we'll probably need Chi to sweep us.

We are battling several teams that either drafted a QB high (Carolina) or are seemingly tied to their QB contractually (Denver). They could put the #1 pick up for bid, so being at 2 or 3 might be a good start. Other teams (Chicago?) won't want to trade the pick no matter what. Gotta watch out for NE but their SOS looks to be high.

It's not going to be an easy road. There are critical back-to-back games in Nov: @ Den followed by hosting Chi on MNF.

But those 99 yard pick-six plays? They really help.

Vegas will probably leapfrog us into #4 overall, but that's the price ya gotta pay for beating a doormat.

Really do not want Caleb on the Bears.

Bears currently own top two picks in 2024 NFL Draft after blowing lead vs. Broncos en route to 0-4 start

Reports are Caleb makes $6 million via NIL.

If he doesn’t like the team with #1 pick he can stay in school and likely make more in 2024 at USC.

Probably not more.

He’ll get 10M/year as the #1 pick, with ~40M guaranteed.

And no guarantee he’ll like his 2025 drafting team more than 2024.

Sorry I meant more than he is currently making at USC vs what he would make next year at USC.

He has leverage than no other QB has had in the past.

So he waits a year and get drafted by another team that sucks.
