Let's talk about the wristband that Kirk was wearing last night. It seems to have helped get the plays called faster and allow more time at the LOS. This appears to have had many positive effects including less panic and confusion, less ability of the defense to get a good jump as the play clock hits 2, 1, 0... and it seems to have given Kirk more time to survey the defense.

Did Kevin O'Connell just unlock the best version of Kirk Cousins? That was the M'F'in Niners defense out there that we just beat.

We were at the 1 and the 2....we didn't get a TD either time; not on Kirk. On the Coaches to figure that out. Been a problem this year and last.

I suggest run Akers over LG/LT (Risner, Darrisaw, Oliver) on those short yardage plays instead of up the gut. Again 0 rushing TDs this year.

Uhhh:

1st & Goal at SF 2
(8:24 - 2nd) (Shotgun) A.Mattison left guard to SF 3 for -1 yards (K.Givens).
2nd & 3 at SF 3
(7:46 - 2nd) K.Cousins pass incomplete short left to J.Addison.
3rd & 3 at SF 3
(7:41 - 2nd) (Shotgun) K.Cousins pass incomplete short middle to B.Powell (F.Warner).

1st & Goal at SF 1
(8:37 - 3rd) K.Cousins up the middle to SF 1 for no gain (F.Warner).
2nd & Goal at SF 1
(8:03 - 3rd) PENALTY on MIN-G.Bradbury, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at SF 1 - No Play.
2nd & Goal at SF 6
(7:43 - 3rd) (Shotgun) K.Cousins pass short right to J.Addison to SF 2 for 4 yards (I.Oliver).
3rd & 2 at SF 2
(7:05 - 3rd) (Shotgun) K.Cousins pass incomplete short left to A.Mattison.

that game was much closer than it should have been...joseph hits the x-point and field goal and we're up nine points = two scores....

If I remember correctly the Addison pass was a little long and Mattison should have sat in zone coverage but again we have no short yardage running game.

Tush push was a fail and Mattison is not a good goal line back.

The Vikings are tied (with the Dolphins) for the NFL lead in TD passes (16), which is a good thing, because they are the league's only team without a rushing TD.

It’s all good. It’s totally worth talking about. It showed we could recognize a problem and come up with a solution. It made such a difference.

If they could recognize next that Mattison deserves way less snaps we’ll be cooking.

cousins became so comfortable with it that when we were trying to kill the clock on our last possession, he was calling for the snap at 13 seconds left on the play clock....

IMO the payback factor alone should have made it ESPN's #1. Not just a good play but payback by the little guy who got bullied earlier in the game ... against the big bad 49er defense that Aikman fawned over all game. (Which made Cousins' performance sweeter as well).

When Ward stole the ball from Addison ... it kind of notched up my worry that Addison, as good as he looks in space, will have problems at the line and against physical CBs in general when refs are letting them play.

He may be small and skinny but he's starting to look like an assassin.

First play of the first drive of the game was a 19 yard Mattison run.

He's very good in a complimentary role ...very rugged. Hard hat guy. A tenderizer ...

So glad he's not the focus of the running game any more.

injuries are my biggest concern with addison...this is why I don't think he could be a wr#1, but he could be a wr#2 par excellence....

We'll see. A lot of good things for a Tue morning but this team still has to prove they're not a bad team.

They looked good this week against a good team. They obviously are no longer in the conversation for a top 5-7 pick.

I really don't care about the division and won't unless they keep doing well over the next 5 games ...

which they should if last night's game was more than just an inspired performance.

Great game!

I'm shocked.

The best single game I've seen Cousins play. No way did I expect him to play like that on Monday night without Jefferson. His trade value is sky high now.

Addison looked great as did the offensive line and defense.

The first enjoyable game of the year.

Agree with all. It's your post lol, but I would have left off the part about Cousins trade value. While true, the probability of him being traded went from like 5-10% (so there's still a chance!) to zero.

Its the best I've ever seen him move around in the pocket. He was actually decisive.

Some really good stuff last night:

OLine
KC's
Addison
Generally, the D

Some bad:

Redzone offense
certain play calls

Some ugly:

Continuing to use Mattison in the passing game. he's not a pass catching RB, he just isn't. It's ok.
the QB sneak. Just because it's successful for other teams doesn't mean it's going to work for you. The wildcat was successful. Does that mean you run it with CJ Ham? Stop!
Short yardage situations. We suck at it. Get rid of it. There is no rule that says you have to use it. Spread teams out and use speed. We are not a power offense.

I think that play pissed him off, because he played with a chip on his shoulder the rest of the game. Had no fear of getting physical with anyone.

Kid scores 4 TDs with a better pass from Cousins and no pass interference on another play.

Not sure if it's "bad" or "ugly" but TJ Hockenson is now down to 8.3 yards per reception which ranks about 296th out of 70 or so tight ends. He's also scored a total of five touchdowns for us since we traded for him.

Prior to that this season... he was serious bust territory.

Oh joy...by winning last night they fell six spots in the draft.

Who is going to QB this team in 2024 and beyond? Does anyone other than me root for the MN teams to bottom out from time to time to get some big time talent? People freak out when the Vikings get ripped off in a trade (uh, they should have received an additional fourth round pick in that trade according to the draft chart) but they fail to understand that by winning games in a worthless season they will miss out on the top 3-4 QB's in the class.

That's what I noticed about Cousins also. He seemed much more poised and in control than I can ever remember. No idea where that came from but if he can remain decisive we may actually make some noise yet this season. Having said that, I hope we don't end up around .500 because that's the worst place to be in the NFL....out of the playoffs and a middle of the 1st round pick.

They played inspired football, no question. It was actually fun to watch. The game against Green Bay will be interesting. Which Cousins shows up?
