Good analysis of Kirk's game.
Also, a great look at the OL pass protecting... certainly not perfect... but allowed Kirk to be very effective:

Oh joy...by winning last night they fell six spots in the draft.
Who is going to QB this team in 2024 and beyond? Does anyone other than me root for the MN teams to bottom out from time to time to get some big time talent? People freak out when the Vikings get ripped off in a trade (uh, they should have received an additional fourth round pick in that trade according to the draft chart) but they fail to understand that by winning games in a worthless season they will miss out on the top 3-4 QB's in the class.

What spot was Hurts and Mahomes drafted? Draft 2 next year and hope to get one.

I would not have minded Vikes bottoming out this year... at all.

But they have too much talent.

Seems a waste of energy to be bummed about Vikes winning a game.
Most entertaining Vikes game of the year by far... my wishes have nothing to do with the outcome.

Let's talk about the wristband that Kirk was wearing last night. It seems to have helped get the plays called faster and allow more time at the LOS. This appears to have had many positive effects including less panic and confusion, less ability of the defense to get a good jump as the play clock hits 2, 1, 0... and it seems to have given Kirk more time to survey the defense.

Did Kevin O'Connell just unlock the best version of Kirk Cousins? That was the M'F'in Niners defense out there that we just beat.

I called it immediately in the game day thread and talked about the positives this morning.

Sorry about that. Sometimes when posts hit the previous page I'm like a goldfish.

It’s all good. It’s totally worth talking about. It showed we could recognize a problem and come up with a solution. It made such a difference.

If they could recognize next that Mattison deserves way less snaps we’ll be cooking.

That's what I'm talking about!

That's really good to see. Shows that O'Connell is at least self aware regarding getting plays to Kirko quicker.

After pitching a complete game shutout against Nick Bosa in week seven, Christian Darrisaw is now not only the highest-graded tackle but the highest-graded offensive lineman at any position in the NFL:

Also read that O'Neal is the top graded RT.

Ok, so there really are people who took no joy in that win.

I mean have fun with that and all. Whatever relevance that win has, if any, remains to be seen but I’ll say straight up - it was damn good for my soul. My head space. We control nothing. How we deal with the ups and downs is up to each of us. I handled the downs rather poorly and perhaps I’m fooling myself now but that team last night can hang with anyone. I’d rather keep winning draft stock be damned.

Apparently the time out we had to use at the end of the first half happened here (before the Addison TD).

Random Thoughts

Kirk Cousins is likely to be extended by the Vikings. The Vikings will draft a QB, but it might not be in the first round depending on who is there at their first pick.
Some display of excellent coaching in the SF game. You see improvement and "lessons learned" on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. On the Defensive side, using zone and more "heavy pass protection" in addition to blitzing. Also, using three safety lineups. On the offensive side, better and quicker playcalls. Really were able to anticipate SF blitzes with excellent counter calls. Still need to continue to improve through the season to be a serious playoff contender.
Addison is a stud. It is hard to draft a stud and Kwesi has done that with Addison.
Need to keep Risner at left guard. Much better pass blocker than Cleveland.
Need to demonstrate that this game is not a fluke by winning on the road at GB and Atlanta--not easy tasks.
I would make Powell number 3 receiver. Addison of course number 2 now.
Need to give more reps to Rbs Chandler and McBride and see what we have with these youngsters. Mattison is not a primary RB option.
I was surprised that SF did not try to run more. The Packers are likely to do more running with Jones and the Vikings defense needs to demonstrate it can stop the run.

You can get a top 3-4 QB(picking 10-20) if you really believe in that guy. Just takes a little dipping into the future drafts.

Were we getting screwed with the clock stopping when it shouldn't have on our last drive?

Warner injury I thought clock should have been running when play resumed.

Addison 1st down catch where there was a penalty. Clock was stopped at 2:17. Did SF call a TO? I thought they only had one left at that time and they called another one after that.

Okay. Just looked up play by play.

Warner injury. They had to call their 2nd TO.

Addison catch. Penalty declined. Clock should have ran and it didn't. SF got an extra 39 seconds.

Right, unless we're missing something, key flub by the officials.

If there is only 30-35 seconds left in game, we probably punt instead of FG try. Make them go 90 yards in 30 seconds with no TOs.

I thought they led with their helmets a few times also that refs just looked the other way. Reputation as a physical defense gives you some leeway I guess.

As Viking fans we’re not looking for “perfect” OLine play, but last night was sure as hell close to perfect in the pass game.

At least once I saw Darrisaw pancake the highest paid edge rusher in the NFL.

Bradbury has become a quality center in this league.

Ingraham actually looks like he’s progressing, and has been pretty stout.

Watch the tape if Risner. It’s a huge leap forward from Cleveland.

O’Neal is getting back to O’Neal like play…

Cannot recall this quality of OLine play since When? 2009? Before that?

I’m ready to roll with this group.

What is a complete Darrisaw shutout considering Bosa primarily lined up against.... O'Neill?

And best pass rusher? Hunter is the NFL sack leader after seven games. Bosa is tied for 64th. It's not 2022.

Ah what the hell, pay Darrisaw. Heck with $25 million per, make it $30 million.

They had it perfect down to the smallest details. They motioned Hockenson back inside to make it look like we needed more protection, and Akers sold the block on the linebacker before releasing into the route. You could see the exact moment the linebacker figured it out and of course, it was too late. Haha!

F***, these guys are trumpeted as the second coming and people can't even spell their names

Nonetheless, my favs are Ron Yerry, Allen Paige, and Randle McDanielle.
