Great game!
I'm shocked.
The best single game I've seen Cousins play. No way did I expect him to play like that on Monday night without Jefferson. His trade value is sky high now.
Addison looked great as did the offensive line and defense.
The first enjoyable game of the year.

First game in a long time (including last year) where there wasn't a 1st or 3rd quarter let down.

What a great win last night. Have to admit, I kept waiting for something bad to happen on the last SF drive, but the defense came through. Offensive line, zero sacks, good job! We now have to make sure we aren't too busy patting our own backs and prepare for the Packers.

SF defense secondary has been exposed by first Cleveland and then us. They are big and can’t stay with quick WR, Powell looks ok as a 4

Sorry KJ. You are the #3 when JJ comes back.

He already was before JJ got injured. Targets, catches, TDs... just not fans perceptions.

RE the defense coming through on the last SF drive, they didn't do anything special except Bynum held onto the ball.

Purdy had two picks in the last 5 minutes, terrible passes or maybe at least one WR mixup. There is an article on ESPN asking whether SF can win close games. Fred Warner asked the same thing. I don't know if that was a veiled shot at Purdy nor how he does in close games, but they haven't delivered the past two weeks.

Agree with all. It's your post lol, but I would have left off the part about Cousins trade value. While true, the probability of him being traded went from like 5-10% (so there's still a chance!) to zero.

Were we getting screwed with the clock stopping when it shouldn't have on our last drive?

Warner injury I thought clock should have been running when play resumed.

Addison 1st down catch where there was a penalty. Clock was stopped at 2:17. Did SF call a TO? I thought they only had one left at that time and they called another one after that.

Okay. Just looked up play by play.

Warner injury. They had to call their 2nd TO.

Addison catch. Penalty declined. Clock should have ran and it didn't. SF got an extra 39 seconds.

Right, unless we're missing something, key flub by the officials.

Liked seeing Powell step up. Chandler twice looked like he was shot out of a cannon (but IMO is limited). Would be interesting to see the impact Risner made.

The D was aggressive, swarming to the ball, and played a bit out of its mind. Continually wondering who the keepers are. Hunter with nine sacks already.

JJ seems to like Kirk, that's some material in the ointment for the offseason.

They better draft a QB that can pass, pass, and pass before he decides to run. JJ and Addison don't seem like the types that are going to be patient.

ha ha

I think you'll have that, especially with WRs ... I don't know, I could be wrong

The one thing I have noticed or haven't noticed as much is Pace...not sure if the rest of the defense increased intensity or what.

The Addison steal for a TD was just #4 on ESPNs Top 10 (NFL only). A couple of sideline catches ahead of his play. Should have been #1, for uniqueness alone!

5 defensive snaps for Pace. The three safeties + Hicks played every snap.

Let's talk about the wristband that Kirk was wearing last night. It seems to have helped get the plays called faster and allow more time at the LOS. This appears to have had many positive effects including less panic and confusion, less ability of the defense to get a good jump as the play clock hits 2, 1, 0... and it seems to have given Kirk more time to survey the defense.

Did Kevin O'Connell just unlock the best version of Kirk Cousins? That was the M'F'in Niners defense out there that we just beat.

What does everyone think of the 2-3 extra TOs KOC got. One play he pointed to TJ and told him to get down live. I think that has happened a few times when injured players try to come off instead of just going down (affecting time to get a play in and rotate players in).

SF LB Warner did pay us back with 2:45 left.

After Jordan Addison's big night Monday, here is the complete list of rookie WRs with 400+ receiving yards and 6+ TDs in their first 7 NFL games over the past 40 seasons:

2023: Jordan Addison
2021: Ja'Marr Chase
2006: Marques Colston
1998: Randy Moss

I called it immediately in the game day thread and talked about the positives this morning.

Yes, injured players should just get down, otherwise the Vikings get a delay of game penalty.

Kirk played great, but a reason the Vikings never dominate is the fact that Kirk has an aversion to going up by 2 TDs, especially early in a game.

When the Vikings have a chance to go up 2TDs, Kirk starts just missing all over the place, too high, off the mark, or a throw that is too late.

The defense has won all 3 of the Vikings' wins.

Flores should be considered for HC, he has killer instinct, not sure KOC has that. Can't let another Tomlin get away.

Imagine sticking an Aaron Donald at DT for this defense.

Umm what? Our Goal Line Offense and Short Yardage rushing is the reason. We have 0 rushing TDs Marty.

Facing the Flore's defense in practice has made Kirk slightly better at handling blitzes, he used to be awful against them.

One thing the Vikings defense doesn't get a chance to practice against, is a good running QB, or a QB that is quick in the pocket. You won't get that with Kirk and now Mannion.

While a good short yardage runner would help, Kirk also needs dagger throws that connect in the end zone, to put the team up 2 TDs, especially if they're short throws for possible TDs.

On many occasions the players broke the huddle, actually hustled and set quickly at the LOS, and the ball was snapped pronto. An amazing difference from the usual four-act play. That may not have given him a lot of time to survey the D, but how much time does he need? QBs like Romo guess the offensive play half the time while the team is in the huddle just based on down/distance and tendencies. Similar application for the D, and a veteran QB should be able to read it in like two seconds.

We were at the 1 and the 2....we didn't get a TD either time; not on Kirk. On the Coaches to figure that out. Been a problem this year and last.

I suggest run Akers over LG/LT (Risner, Darrisaw, Oliver) on those short yardage plays instead of up the gut. Again 0 rushing TDs this year.
