Saying people were advocating for a Darnold extension and trading JJM is the strawman baby of a Mr and Mrs Strawman.

Ruh-ro:

The Vikings have been methodical in bringing back T.J. Hockenson from the torn ACL and MCL he suffered late last season. But his 21-day practice window is coming to a close.

With the Vikings playing the Rams on Thursday night, it stands to reason that Hockenson will be activated this week. But head coach Kevin O’Connell did not commit to the tight end playing when asked about him and guard Dalton Risner — who is also returning from a back injury — on Monday.

“It’s early. We’ll make that determination kind of as these next couple of days [go by],” O’Connell said in his news conference. “As we put together game plans, we want to have a good feel for that. But, very much a possibility.”

He's going to be activated, but just imagine him merely standing in a cleaned and pressed uniform watching the the entire game!

If he's that dang important then do not play him unless he is 100% recovered. We deserve to be cellar dwellers if we can't beat the Rams without him.

Team is in prove it mode until further notice.

If they couldn’t get it done in a big game at home after 2 weeks rest I’m skeptical they can get it done on a short week on the road.

Doesn’t help that Darnold is turning into a pumpkin.

Not sure the bye is all that productive considering the OL in particular seemed to show up hungover.

When’s the last time Jefferson took over a game?

Seems we’re fighting to get him the ball…and he’s doing ok. Not tilting the field though. And our other guys aren’t feasting on lighter coverage.

Darnold was already a pumpkin for years, then turned into a prince, and now might be slowly returning to being a pumpkin.

Cinderella story with a bad ending? Kinda sucks when he has the perennially rotten pumpkin Ingram in front of him.

He seems to be doing all he can. He's 4th in yards per game, 2nd in TDs (the 2 guys ahead of him have 1 more - but have played 7 games), averaging a career high in YPC, and has to be among the leaders in penalties drawn.

phil mackey just conveyed this stat on purple daily.

'time' = ball snapped from center to thrown pass/ball out of hand

darnold takes the longest 'time' of any quarterback this season.

it's not an o-line measuring tool...it's a QB measuring tool.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

another QB measurement.

darnold has the highest pressure-to-sack percentage....for every qb pressure, there is a 25% chance that darnold will be sacked

the best pressure-to-sack percentages this year are about 12-13%

5-1 is still way better than originally thought.

Enjoy the ride. They are a contender Todd.

Rumors are floating about Rams being in sell mode. Stafford and Kupp.

Darnold has shown he has some arm talent, but the early reports that it was all the bad teams he was on, were ignoring his flaws.

Sam doesn't have a quick release, occasionally makes bad mistakes, doesn't often bait a team so he can make a dagger 3rd down completion, his runs look more desperation and don't get the needed 1st down, he doesn't look like he has the killer instinct that some QBs show.

I have lowered my expectations, and really look forward to JJ starting at QB next year. I will try to enjoy the positives that are shown this year.

The Rams could be a tougher opponent than we expect, the Rams aren't dead yet.

BFlo will have 3 fewer days to prepare and do some of his magic, the game is an away game so no crowd advantage, teams are making some adjustments to BFlo's defense, some of Darnold's flaws are starting to show.

JJ starting over Darnold is lowered? Didn't you state that at about the 1st or 2nd game?

He said maybe if Darnold faltered perhaps there could be a chance JJ probably might be better depending.

Young riser: PK Will Reichard

The rookie sixth-rounder has made all 30 of his attempts this season, including 18-for-18 on extra point attempts and 12-for-12 on field goal tries, the most by any NFL kicker this season without a miss. That includes four makes of 53 yards or longer, and coach Kevin O'Connell said he was prepared to send out Reichard, 23, for a 68-yard attempt to win the Vikings' Week 7 game before a penalty pushed the line back 5 yards. -- Kevin Seifert

I expected Darnold to falter more than he has, I hope he doesn't continue to falter.

JJ gives me more hope because he seemed to rise to the occasion, with bigger games. But I do realize that is just the college level, no telling yet if JJ will even be a serviceable NFL QB.

Has Richard hit a 73 yard FG in practices ?

The Lions making their last FG, pushed the Vikings from being the #1 seed with a bye, to now being a #5 seed, that would play on the road against a #2 seed.

Get Dexter Lawrence II.

Get CB in the off-season.

McCarthy more clutch than Darnold.

3 problems solved, Reisner helps interior OL, not sure what to do about center.

offer the giants two 1st round picks, but make them give us lawrence, and their best guard....

The price for Lawrence will be at least 2 first rounders.

I'd do it and I think the Vikings would but not the Giants.

Lawrence is a potential HOF player under contract the rest of his prime.

You wouldn't be mortgaging future, you'd be solidifying it by investing 2 late first round picks and in return getting the cornerstone of your defense for years to come.

Again, I doubt the Giants trade him.

The Giants lose next week, and I think they strongly consider trading Lawrence. I think it won't take much more than a 1st.

The Giants lose next week, and you might see the coach get fired, at that point they might be moving on from Jones, and realize they're far from being a contender.

Dexter Lawrence is 26 years old on a value contract for 3 more years. It'll probably take significantly more than a 1st to get him IF the Giants decide to move him. Especially since our 1st is looking to be in the 20s.

A more realistic target may be Al-Pro DT Quinnen Williams from the Jets.

I would rather have a more impact player like Dexter Lawrence that can cover up DC mistakes, or mediocre CB play, like Aaron Donald would do at times.

I don't think Lawrence would cost as much as you think, I would at least offer the Giants next year's 1st, along with a 3rd from the following season.

I think there is a better chance the Jets beat NE this week, than the Giants winning at Pittsburgh.

The Giants lose at Pittsburgh, then you swoop in and trade a 1st and a 3rd for Dexter Lawrence II.

That won't be enough to get Lawrence. He's at an age and contract where he can just as easily be part of the core of a rebuilt Giants team.
