Since Darnold got hit in the ribs he hasn’t been the same.

Just compare the deep ball to Jefferson week 2 to the under thrown one to Addison last week.

I wouldn’t sell the farm when all we have is a small hobby farm as an asset and Darnold isn’t winning us a championship this year.

If he completes the pass to Nailor in the final minutes the Vikings are 6-0, with dominating wins over San Francisco, Houston and Green Bay (three of the better teams in football).

Has he been perfect? No. Has he been a pleasant surprise? I'm guessing most would say yes.

Lets not forget, the easy part of the schedule is just starting. The first six games was the hard part. If the Vikings continue to play like they have been playing over the next eight weeks, it is not hard to imagine them being 11-3-ish through 14 games, or maybe even better.

I don't think anyone saw 5-1 coming when the season started.

Myself, I am excited to see what happens once Hockenson returns. That is a large part of the offense that has been missing.

I would rather have a more impact player like Dexter Lawrence that can cover up DC mistakes, or mediocre CB play, like Aaron Donald would do at times.

I don't think Lawrence would cost as much as you think, I would at least offer the Giants next year's 1st, along with a 3rd from the following season.

If we were the only team bidding on him. Maybe.

If Darnold plays poorly tonight he inches closer to bum status.

Too bad JJM took the selfish “better long term” option on his surgery.

Fun fact: The Vikes are #6 for defense in points allowed at 17.8 and #6 in offense for points scored at 28.0. Anytime you are in the top ten in both of those categories history says you are a legit super bowl contender. Skol!

You are incredibly cavalier with athletes bodies and livelihoods.

No one saw as as contenders going into the year, but hey, at least you'd be happy this year - even if it could mean he'll miss a bunch of games over the rest of his career because of it...

No he’d probably have 10% more discomfort later in his career if he took the one fix.

Not what a leader does. Did Ronnie Lott waste time stitching up his finger so he could hold a fork better later in life?

For the first 6 games of the season? That makes us SB contenders?

Our stage 1 rocket booster just disengaged.

We are currently trying to course correct our trajectory from the last 8 qtrs (ie, orbiting with all the want-to-be contender space trash), to where we were first half into the GB game - heading for a gluttonous tailgate bbq in Asgard.

The first third of the season is its own season. Teams are figuring out what they’re good / bad at and adjusting. Especially with no preseason.

Lift-off was cool. Now we start to find out how real or fictional our incredible start was.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Knees are kind of important in football, and the quick fix in athletes often leads to a lot of problems during their careers.

I also have concerns that you don't know how to use a fork...

I know I fib a lot when it comes to my HS football time but I did **** up my knee the 2nd game of the season. Put in a brace and on crutches. Was told my season was over. But I was a 2 way starter. A captain. I missed one week. This is a true story.

My knees are pretty ****ed, for more than a few reasons, but the point is I didn’t even think about it. I got back bc I was able to push through it. Even if that meant only playing one way at RG.

So you are saying that your selfish choice to play through the injury derailed your pro career which ultimately deprived the Vikes from drafting you and solving the RG problem for decades...

THANKS A LOT YOU SELFISH S.O.B.!

At the time of JJMs injury it was a no-brainer to get the surgery in order to be 100% healthy as the QBOTF. It sucked that since the merger (?) he was the only 1st round QB taken to miss an entire rookie season, but that's just a footnote.

To continue the space analogy, just because Darnold has gravitated towards earth doesn't change that no-brainer decision. Besides, maybe JJM wanted to go for the quick fix and the team said no.

Regardless, there are always going to be 'glory day' ex high school jocks saying toughen up buttercup, but the league and NFLPA have made great strides to get away from that 1950s mentality.

Maybe you are referring to your high school days and not a do-over post. Because you have a clear history of ragging on injured players missing time/games... Hock a couple of years ago (which may have been a BS maneuver tied to contract negotiating), Jefferson, Hock again, and now McCarthy.

That's not whoops, do-over territory.

That offensive ranking is total points scored so you have to account for the Def TD's. Take those out and the O is something like 13-15. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I heard that yesterday.

10th, which includes a bye week. But if you added in the just over 3 TDs per game scored on average (rushing & receiving), they'd be 5th. Although that doesn't account for other teams having a bye.

Ah crap, I forgot FGs.

Separately, the D has scored 3 TDs on the season which is league-leading mostly due to Van Ginkel.

It would be cool to see a net defensive scoring stat, i.e. points allowed minus defensive points scored.

Thanks Bill. I heard that same stat discussed on a podcast when I was driving home yesterday. I couldn't remember the exact details. Still pretty impressive as a whole. Having a reliable kicker is amazing

Guess Hock needs those extra 10 days to go from 99.8% ready to 99.9.

A team with fewer weapons (LA Rams) did it with Kupp. Long Season Todd.

T.J. Hockenson had a chance to play Thursday night, but ultimately the Vikings decided to use the full 21-day PUP window for his knee recovery. He'll sit out tonight, but will be added to the 53-man roster tomorrow and should play in Week 9 vs. Colts.
