The point on SF is that we beat them at their absolute best this year.

But outside of Detroit (and maybe at that point SF) we played no other top 4 team. We had an easy schedule due to our record the previous year and division the NFCN had.

I don't know man. It's easy to look back at it now and say it was easy. I know almost every fan I know was scared shitless we would start off about 1-6 or 2-5. It was a real possibility going in to the season.

Precisely. Most of these people have amnesia. They were predicting high draft picks for next season.

I also know many on here said to tank in 2023....but back to Sam at 40 million is a lot and after Kirk he has to prove it.

14-3 isn't proving it? Holy cow! You people have high expectations.

If only you held yourself to such a high standard. You go from voting for a guy with 34 convictions, six bankruptcies and found guilty of sexual abuse, to saying it's a Super Bowl or bust for the Vikings quarterback. That's a wide chasm.

We're literally two seasons removed from 13-4.

Do regular season wins matter or not? You can't have it both ways.

Oh … And just to be clear …

waiting for one good pass on Mon to coronate Sam’s ass … NO.

Sam has to have a great game against the Rams just to START rebuilding his own dike.

Anything less than very good with a win doesnt do it … it has to be at least as good as the Lions game was bad … just to get to 1-1 square one in critical games. And 1-1 buys you nothing in this world, certainly not 40M of my play money.

Its not until our SECOND playoff game, if there is one, that Sam starts to move his needle with this team. If our regime has any balls at all.

Sorry. Not my rules, take it or leave it … just the cold ruthless law of nature, whether you’re a qb, lion, wildebeest or samurai otter.

Man, the expectations have really gone up in this place.

Again, Cousins took his team to 13-4 and you couldn't stand him. And that team was much worse than this year's ...

Hang out until Mon, you may or not get some help with your double-standard from Sam.

Monday makes no difference to me. At 14-3 with the #6 passer rating, he has done enough to convince me he can lead this team a long ways. If he had the offensive line that Jared Goff or Jalen Hurts had, there is no telling what the Vikings' record would have been.

You guys do realize, without Darrisaw, he has one of the worst offensive lines in football, right?

This isn't about Darnold or Cousins. It's about Darnold or McCarthy.

How are you going to get a great offensive line when you're paying SD 40+? How are you going to build up the defense and get CBs like Reed?

This isn't about Darnold or McCarthy. It's about Darnold or McCarthy/Jones + team building.

Pretty nice deflection on Cousins. Had me laughing, they nailed you on it.

[insert emoji-cackle]

Yeah no Darrisaw but Robinson and a good defense evens it out to Darrisaw and a putrid defense. Even the bad iol has been less bad this year.

Its not about Darnold or Cousins because you dont have a leg to stand on.

For you, it is about Darnold or JJM because you can make up whatever shit you want until JJM plays.

Its easy to imagine Darnold having a horrific game on Mon, signing elsewhere and stinking it up like Cousins, and jjm taking us to a 15-2 season … only to still have to listen to you droning on about how we should have kept Darnold.

Because its all about your argument for you. Its about the Vikings moving forward for the rest of us.

Everyone wants Sam to do well. Same as any QB we have. Kirk taught not only fans but the coaches and GM that more is expected when you pay a qb big money. Sam or Jones or JJM at 8-10 million is different than paying them 40. 40 brings expectation not just hope of sustaining what was done in the regular season.

Yes, we had low expectations for Sam's regular season, no expectations of making the playoffs. We also had no expectation we might need to pay him 40-50 million/season in 2025.

The discussion is whether or not to pay him that kind of money. Bringing up Kirk is fair, as we decided not to pay him, and it looks like a great decision in just about every way.

Sam just about made it an easy decision with his "performance" against the Lions. Sam can make it interesting with a win against the Rams, or even a great performance against the Rams.

Otherwise, it's an easy decision.

I think this is true...

Sam harmed his potential earnings by a ridiculous amount Sunday night...

It will take multiple good games to redeem it, one win against the Rams is not moving the needle back to where it was

Two playoff wins will, I think, unless the third game is as bad as Sunday was

But there is certainly a legitimate argument against Sam being given the big contract after crumbling as bad as he did against the Kitties in spite of his mostly terrific regular season

It's a QB starved league with a poor QB draft coming up.

Atlanta was dumb enough to give a 36 year old, torn achilles suffering, 1 playoff win having Kirk Couins a 4 years 180 MILLLLIIIIOOOOON dollar contract.

SD will get paid somewhere.
