Haven't seen anything definitive about what we could get for Darnold in a comp pick next year...sounds like people think that we will gain enough in FA to outweigh anything we would get for Sam

But if he signs for good money (Mayfieldish contract) and plays whole season etc, maybe we get something anyway?

I agree that if we get a solid IOL and CB in first tier of FA, though, it is a win...

not paying big money to Sam is a win IMO

Absolutely.

2× First-team All-Pro (2023, 2024)
2× Second-team All-Pro (2019, 2022)
3× Pro Bowl (2022–2024)

The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to trade All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears, Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday.

Kansas City will receive a 2026 fourth round pick in exchange for Thuney, one of the NFL‘s best offensive linemen. The Chiefs are moving on from Thuney to free up cap space, with center Creed Humphrey making big money and a new deal for right guard Trey Smith on the way. Kansas City clears $16 million in cap space. Thuney, entering the final year of his five-year, $80 million deal, will likely sign a new extension in Chicago.

Somehow there is a reciprocal deer in the headlight look in play on our part with that.

Conversely, maybe Kwesi is starstruck.

when you're already out of picks a full season before the draft starts, then you've got no ammunition when teams start dumping solid players that you need cheap....

kwesi treats draft picks like monopoly money until he realizes, too late, that he could use a few, and then they become overvalued....

Oh the humanity!

Now media discussions (Florio) of JJM seeking a trade if we sign SD to a 2 or more year deal.

I’m so tired of ricocheting off of ‘insider’ innuendo, rumour, and complete fabrication.

I feel like LOTR Theoden, ‘how did it come to this?’ if he had said that before his exorcism.

This is notoriously difficult to predict, so apologies in advance if I get all of these wrong. haha

But here are my predictions for players who end up with the Vikings next week:

🏈 Cooper Kupp (WR)
🏈 Jerome Baker (ILB)
🏈 Patrick Mekari (OG)
🏈 Paulson Adebo (CB)
🏈 Javon Hargrave (DT)
🏈 Talanoa Hufanga (S)
🏈 Will Hernandez (OG)
🏈 Jonathan Jones (CB)
🏈 Javonte Williams (RB)*

*if Aaron Jones leaves

Was he referring to a 'source'? That could be a post from January! Then there is the 'inside source' which I'm guessing has expanded and been redefined over the years.

Or an inference, like hell yeah JJM will seek a trade if we sign Darnold for two or more years!

Kinda makes it feel like either Harrison Smith or Camryn Bynum (or, potentially, both) won't be back next season.

The #Vikings and safety Theo Jackson agreed to terms on a two-year, $12.615 million extension through 2027, with the first two years fully guaranteed at signing, per source. Deal done by Equity Sports Agency.

I am also seeking a new contract worth around $30M a year.

Don't think I'm gonna get it but that sure won't stop me from seeking it.

The Seahawks are seeking a first- and third-round pick for WR DK Metcalf, per sources.

Metcalf is also eyeing a new contract worth around $30M per year.

Jackson was an RFA so I think this is really a three-year, $15M extension through 2027 with the tender factored in

Much like Josh Metellus, who earned a two-year, $13M extension before his breakout, Vikings hoping again to get in on the ground floor before another breakout

Bynum. Talks out there is that (like it or not) Murphy is a much bigger priority.

Sorry. Pure conjecture - in a conversation to … what if we signed Darnold … and for more than one year? Where does that put JJM?

Obviously none of us knows what's going to happen here but I'll be stunned if they bring Darnold back. It would tell me 1 of a couple things:

1. JJM isn't going to be ready medically (I find that hard to believe)
2. Jones is leaving so they have no real backup and are scared about JJM's ongoing health/lack of experience ect.
3. Darnold is so scarred from his previous stints he's willing to put a lot of money aside to be in Minny
4. They sign him with the intent of trading him when they are sure on JJM

I would just sign Garropolo for 5-10 and not worry about either Jones or Darnold if they don't take it.

It makes no sense.

Darnold would have to take millions less, kwesi would have to put off and possibly scrap his multi-year franchise plan.

no way.

I'm beginning to think that our management team thinks our oline has talent, but the coaching needs to be improved. They really can't be this bad at recognizing the biggest problem on the team, can they??? If they don't pick up a quality guard and center in free agency and/or the draft, we're aiming for average at best.

Or trade up a higher pick than the bear's 4, ask for a lower pick, and get a Pro Bowl caliber player. No creativity.
