Watched some Will Anderson Jr. pro highlights. Turner showed the same burst/bend in his Alabama highlights. IF he stays on track as the new Will Anderson and IF Greenard puts it together and stays healthy they should be a force.

Rip will be our 3rd Edge in rotation now. Big improvement over JonesII and the injured Davenport.

Is Rip a Turner nickname? Cream rises to the top. IMO he will be our #1 edge.

Van Ginkel

Over the next three years the Vikings will spend about $57-million while the Lions will spend about $15-million. That's what I see.

Used to remember this discussion 30 years ago going into my uncles barber shop....they get paid what the can get paid. Feel the same now as before.

How some things never change. It was Kirby then making too much, then KG, etc. etc. Now some of the posters are turning into those old, get off of my lawn and complain about contract types. Brad are you posting this from a salon chair?

No matter what TJ or Jet make the salary cap is in a better place in 2024 then what it was left in 2022 or 23.

Yet the IOL and DL are still shit.

And they will stay that way as long as Kwesi sets new bars for salaries.

The D Line is absolute asscheeks if we're being honest.

Agreed. It's the worst D-Line I can recall in Viking history. Hopefully, they can address it in next year's draft as it doesn't seem possible to upgrade it at this point.

What do we consider our D Line. Does it include Greenard, Van Ginkel and Turner or do we call them LBs and not part of the line? Those three plus Harrison Phillips IMO isn't bad at all. Sure we need one Pat Williams type to clog up the middle.

That's true, but it presumes the Vikings were able to draft Sam LaPorta and it's very convenient to use hindsight now that everyone knows he's a stud. I'm a Hawkeye alumni so I actually knew that! Now, wish we had drafted the Iowa punter! Not happy that the Bears did...guy is a weapon.

I think what gives a trade better context is adding up all picks paid and use the value chart to determine their total value. In this particular case (spitballing) the value probably added up to a low 20's first rd pick. So, as you put it (in hindsight) we could have packaged tose picks to move up and draft LaPorta.

What bothered me about the trade that the following draft was TE rich. Plus Hock was one of those "break the bank" guys. Detroit dumped him and are both cap healthier and drafted a superior replacement. Meanwhile we are paying a guy top dollar and gave up a boat load of picks.

But Hock is a good talent, and Kwesi may have drafted a bad TE in the 1st round, or hung onto Irv Smith for longer.

Certainly the lack of picks next year is extremely concerning.

But no more Kirko chains.

I also think Turner is going to be worth the capital we gave up.

Ongoing investigation into both the Falcons and Eagles. If they lose picks it’ll be next draft.

Just saw a post about comp picks..

According to the formula used, we get none.

Zero..

We will have three picks in 2025 draft..

Why..

All the CFA’s that we signed, off set all the CFA’s we lost.. according to league..

Check it yourself.

Brilliant management..

Trade down from our 1st pick. Trade our 2026 1st for a 2nd. Room for 1 more trade down. Boom our cupboard is full.

According to Over the Cap, we are getting a 3rd for Cousins.

Hunter, Wonnum, Davenport, Hicks, Osborn cancel out with Cashman, Greenard, Griffin, Van Ginkel, Darnold

Not sure why Aaron Jones wasn't figured in. Maybe because he wasn't a UFA. He got cut.

All depends on how Turner and McCarthy turn out. Top 10 talents are expensive.

I remember when Jared Allen cost a 1st and the equivalent of two 3rd round comp picks....hope the same happens with Turner and JJ where we aren't complaining about those picks.

Draft picks and free agency trades are not the same.

I’m happy cousins is gone.

I hope Darold holds the offense together untill McCarthy is ready to step up.

Turner is a great pick but it was more happenstance and luck than planning.

Going into 2025 draft with three picks and hoping a compensation pick has enough value to fill a roster spot?

Not a good plan..

I am not sure which method is worse ..

Spielmans trade back and pile up picks to sort through 10 wannabes, or Queasy trading away the future picks to try to fix an ongoing lack of Talent that Spielman left him with…

Nothing I can do about it, but bitch.

I'll take the latter. I even said as much before the draft.

Just stop trying the quick fix by trading away future draft picks..

This is not a, one off season reboot, and the draft, with smart choices, is where you find the majority of the young cheap talent..

I don’t see the logic in giving up Hockenson’s pick, and his ridiculous contract , as a smart move at all.

I don’t mind a trade up, or a move down so much if there is valid value.

2025… three picks… and a maybe at the end of the third?

We also have a ton of cap space next year.

Yeah, we spent a lot of draft capital on two guys this year. But they were at two of the most important positions - and two of the most expensive. If we hit on them, we have them contract controlled for 5 years.

Hopefully we hit on some of the later picks as well. And if we don't? That kind of continues to devalue those mid-late picks for us.

Most importantly, we have our 1st round pick. So we have the option of drafting a player (hopefully not too) high, or trading down and reclaiming a couple picks.

I'm not going to gnash my teeth and get all worked up about next year's draft.

We had years of Spielman drafting 10 players and hoping 2-3 would stick. Then we had Kwesi doing the exact same thing. I find it refreshing that he went against that strategy. It was time to try a new approach and go star hunting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spielman drafted more players in the 7th round than any other team during his tenure. How many of those did he hit on?

I agree. We don't need to trade down for more picks. That got us nothing. Love that we were aggressive this year. You win with studs not role players, they keep you at 500. Role players can be signed for cheap not drafted. Go up and get the guy you think will make a huge impact at his position. If the KC chiefs had the Spielman get (more picks attitude) they never would have gotten Patrick Mahomes. If you identify a player you want/need do what you need to get him. The Vikings had a good plan this year and also adjusted on the fly. Great job! Nice to have we don't need all those picks we can use the cap space to help fill out the rodter
