That I can recall this is the most I've wondered about a single player getting cut.

I'd of offered anyone a $1 wager that he wouldn't get cut up until it was time put up or shut up. Interesting

Id say credit for this debate can be traced back to Dan and Bill -- well done!

Actually you've mentioned that 'single player' more in the past few days than I have (along with you perhaps not communicating properly with your take on hating, "Lawd", intentional vs unintentional digs, grammar posts, poison, KFC, etc).

Although I mentioned him today as part of a small list of players I think could get cut, depending on certain things. And the next post after that... the one right here.

Either they are going to trade him or they have another RB out their they know is going to come available that they are targetting.

With Nwangwu gone the RB room is currently Jones, Chandler and CJ Ham.

I can't believe they will go into the season with basically two RBs and a FB. More has to be going on there.

Agree. That is pretty shocking to me. I assumed he was written in marker as our KR'r, if nothing else.

Obviously, Im not communicating properly ...

I'm not that surprised. He's never been much of a RB. Just a guy with great speed. And I'm guessing the new KO rules make him less valuable?

He seems like a guy who could've excelled in space, but KOC is yet to show any kind of working screen game with us.

Interesting:

Nwangwu couldn’t get on the field as a RB for Iowa either. 143 attempts in the 4 seasons he played from 2016-2020.

He has 27 carries in the NFL in 3 years under 2 different offensive coordinators.

So that’s 170 carries in 7 seasons.

Since kickoffs have totally changed, maybe they are going in another direction. Off the cuff, wonder if Powell is the right guy to be a KR along with PR. Or go find a shifty one-dimensional RB to return kicks.

If Ham was Tony Richardson, three total backs might be in play. But he is not. And we still need a KR.

ISU

Been awhile since an Iowa runningback was on a NFL roster - Tim Dwight? (converted to WR)

In the first two weeks of the preseason 78% of the kickoffs were returned, 11 of those kickoffs were taken back past the 40 yard line, which is almost double the amount in last preseason. The average starting point for a drive following a kick return was the 28.3 yard line as opposed to the 23.9 yard line last year. While there wasn’t a kickoff returned for a touchdown in the preseason, 65% of the returns have gone past the 30 yard line, while only 11.7% went past the 30 last year.

My main surprise here is that that the current RB room is just Jones, Chandler, and Ham.

I can't believe they will go into the season with just three, one of which is a FB.

I'm sure there is someone they think will be cut that they'd rather have.

Akers?

Not sure if Akers is the answer but I do think there is someone they believe will be released that they can sign. It just makes no sense to into the season with no depth there at all.

Akers was really good for us before he got hurt.

But he's probably had too strong of a preseason to be cut.

Chiefs are cutting Toney.

They carried just three RBs (no FB) last year. Probably to help man the 4-3 DL, with 11 (!) players.

On a team starving for WRs, with THE Superstud at QB in the NFL right now and Andy Reid at HC, they didn't even dress Toney for the last three games of the season and the playoffs. The suggested explanation was that he can't be trusted to run the right route, or catch the ball.

Though there is talent there...I would take a pass on him.

I'm fine the Vikings WRs on the roster including JJ, Let's Get Paid, Nailor, Powell, Sherfield, and Jackson.

New rule was changed back. Makes it more likely Hall makes the team.

The NFLPA rejected the league's proposal to allow unlimited promotions from the practice squad to the game-day roster for an emergency third QB, source says, because it did not want to allow teams to, in effect, "legally stash" a player on the practice squad for a reduced salary.

just found this....

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
The #Vikings will place promising UDFA LB Gabriel Murphy on short-term IR to begin the season, source said. The former UCLA standout flashed early in camp.
