The game plan seemed to be Luka will get his, but we'll shut down his help.

Ant played a really smart game last night. His decision making was great. Instead of trying to fight through five guys to the rim, he pulled up and dished to wide open 3 point shooters.

I also love that Doncic was forced to play defense last night. That was a huge failure against Dallas last year. Luka was practically carrying his knee up and down the court in a shopping bag last year and the Wolves never forced him to defend the ball.

Great games from Jaden and Naz. Just can't about McDaniels in particular.

The only negatives were that once again NAW's 3 point shot disappeared in a playoff game. He still finished the night at a +9 and drew some really tough defensive assignments.

Yes, Edwards’ 9 assists were key. They were determined to take away his driving lanes, and that left the perimeter free for open 3s. Same to a degree with Randle’s 5 assists. He was both a recipient and creator of 3 looks.

People may say nice win but can’t count on shooting 3s like that every night. But if they are open 3s, created by the offensive movement, you kind of can. Not every 3 attempt is created equal. Some are open, some are contested, some are forced, some are in rhythm. If you are creating good looks and you have the shooters to make them pay, fire away.

I'm a little bit more than worried about playing the Lakers.

1. Will Finch hunt Luka on the offensive end unlike last year.

2. Can we keep Luka in check on defense unlike last year.

3. Will the NBA lets us advance? The Lakers averaged 5 more free throws per contest than their opponents this season. I'll be keeping my eye on this disparity this series.

If there’s any hint the refs are favoring the Lakers, Edwards will lose his mind. That is a real concern.

That proved not to be the case. There was a definite disparity in fouls and Ant kept his cool. The Lakers didn't pick up theirs first foul until late in the second quarter.

Credit to Edwards for this. Despite the foul disparity, the Lakers seemed to be complaining more than the Wolves.

We won't lose if Jaden is that efficient on offense and plays that well on defense.

Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 by the NBA for his vulgar comments directed towards fans of the Los Angeles Lakers during the Minnesota Timberwolves' Game 1 win on Saturday.

Edwards was caught on video saying "my d--- bigger than yours."

When Anthony Edwards took the court in Game 1 for his 28th career Playoff game, he was joined by two other members of an exclusive club – Luka Dončić and LeBron James.

That trio, along with Michael Jordan, Tracy McGrady and Oscar Robertson, are the only players in NBA history to average 27+ pts, 6+ reb and 5+ ast through their first 27 Playoff games

His ability to impact all aspects of the game was on display for Edwards in Game 1 and will be key again in tonight’s Game 2 (10 ET, TNT) as the Wolves seek a 2-0 lead on the road

It’s all part of Edwards’ evolution as an all-around player. Already a force attacking the basket, Edwards turned himself into an elite 3-point shooter this season, leading the NBA with 320 3s on a career-best 39.5%.

But Game 1 wasn’t just about buckets. Ant won it with his playmaking as he matched his Playoff career-high with nine dimes and only one turnover to lead the Wolves past the Lakers

How Important Is Ant’s Playmaking? This season, the Wolves went 26-12 when he had 5+ ast, 18-7 with 6+ ast, 12-3 with 7+ ast and a perfect 6-0 with 8+ ast. That improved to 7-0 on Monday.

“The best version of Ant,” Coach Chris Finch said, “is when he’s flirting with a triple double.”

Minnesota shot 21-of-42 from 3 in Game 1. A key reason why? They generated 27 wide-open 3s (closest defender 6+ feet away) and sank 19 of them (70.4%)

Jaden McDaniels (25 pts, 11-13 FG, 3-3 3P in Game 1) was the recipient of four assists from Edwards as he showed up big as a major swing factor for the Timberwolves.

Minnesota is now 5-0 this season when McDaniels scored 25+ pts

“He had ultra-confidence,” Edwards said after the game. “As long as he trusts himself, we all trust him.”

I saw that clip. Edwards and fans were jawing at each other. Edwards said he had $200 million, and said Rudy did too. Rudy then corrected him and said $300 million. Then Edwards made the dick comment.

It was kind of funny, I’m sure the fans were giving it to Edwards too. Just trash talk, and you know Edwards will dish out more than he gets. But he should know better. He may have gotten away with it had he not actually grabbed his dick when he made the comment…in full view of the entire arena.

There would be nothing better than the Wolves coming out like crazed dogs on defense and kicking the Lakers ass.

I predict a 2-0 series lead heading back to Minneapolis.

As badly as the Wolves played last night, I can't believe they only lost by 9.

Credit to the Lakers. They made the necessary adjustments and punched back. They really tightened up their perimeter defense. You could tell that was a major point of emphasis. Lebron is still a fierce competitor at 40 and a smart veteran playoff player. And Luka is still Luka doing his thing.

The Wolves, even on not their best night still battled through and almost made a game of it. A good sign I guess. We still stole home court advantage. The next two at Target Center should be a lot of fun.

They tightened up their perimeter defense a little, but the Wolves missed a lot of wide open 3's. They also failed to exploit the space in the lane that goes with a defensive focus on the perimeter.

Game 3 couldn’t have gone much better. They closed out the game strong on both ends with a run. Something they haven’t been good at all year.

You can thank me for McDaniels’ 30 points. I didn’t pick him as part of my over/under parlay. I swear every time I use him he disappears. He might average 12 a game but it’s like 22, 3, 16, 7… and I pick him on the 3 night when he gets 3 quick fouls in 5 minutes.

1. It's always good to play Luka when he is under the weather.
2. Ant really took charge in the 4th.
4. James must use only the highest quality roads. He looks like is 10 years younger.
5. McDaniels, Randle and Naz are really stepping up to help Ant matching rhe Lakers top 3.
6. Rudy looks obsolete this series.

Why doesn't Mike Conley play much anymore?

Because he's gotten very old and slow. He gets hunted on defense and his offense is basically just shooting 3s.

20 something minutes per game is about right for Conley. He still provides playmaking skills, and 3 point shooting and veteran leadership. But as stated above he’s a defensive liability depending on matchup, he’s better when he’s fresh and not overused, and there is another legitimate guard option to share his minutes.

KAT had a very good game today. But I’m becoming a fan of Randall too. Is he the player KAT is? No. But he’s been playing well recently for the Wolves. Yes I’m very aware of his flaws but he brings a vital presence to this team in the playoffs. And the trade got us Divincenzo too.

KAT’s a great player and I’m glad he’s thriving with the Knicks but I was ready for him to move on.

Surprisingly, Randle played some of the best defense on Luka today.

When I see Donte and Randle making postseason plays…….it really was the right choice.

Randle and Donte were so important,

trading kat was a bad decision which i understand the ownership fiasco played a significant role. randle and donte are proving to be quite effective for the wolves. donte was a known + and randle has seemed to lack focus on defense until finch pushed the right buttons?

happy for kat, elated ant excels for the wolves, disappointed with what might’ve been (ala kg, steph, and googs:( )
