As far as playing time goes, looks like RB is the biggest void if one believes they need to reduce the workload on Jones.

Maybe bring in Spielman for a cameo appearance to maneuver for a 4th rounder and pick a Mewelde Moore or Onterrio Whizzinator Smith type.

I would assume that's their plan. I've read/heard multiple times that this draft is loaded with RB's.

Cooper Kupp is officially cut......also looking like the Vikes are looking into ARog. Please let it be fake news.

But what could more fun than watching Brett Favre go into Green bay and beat the Packers? Aaron Rogers going into Green Bay and beating the packers.

No, it wouldn't. I hate that pissy diva a lot more than I hate the Packers. If they sign Roger's, I hope they lose every game.

As much as I hated the Favre move this would piss me off to the moon. Why bring in that asshole when you've worked so hard to create a "culture" that they brag of? Makes zero sense.

Yep. This would be much worse than the Favre move. Rodgers is a team cancer waiting to happen.

I enjoyed Favre being here ... the first year. I got over my "hatred" real quick. A little upset he didn't bring all the calls he got in GB with him.

I don't think Rodgers is a good move but it wouldn't upset me any.

But look at the unique skills Rogers has. No one is better at getting the other team to jump offsides than Rogers. And no one was better at milking the refs for 15 yard roughing calls than Rogers. Rogers has mastered the art of whining and milking the refs for penalty calls. His mastery of whining alone should get him into the hall of fame. As much as it bothered me when he was at Green Bay, it wouldn't bother me at all if he was in purple.

All kidding aside. What are we going to do at backup QB? We still don't know if McCarthy is the next Patrick Mahomes or the next Christian Ponder. There are very few QB left in free agency that can step in and win games if needed.

How about one of Minshew or Wentz and see if they can get Flacco to come in assume the mentor role?

I live in Reno and since we get all the Vegas games on local tv, I've followed the Raiders somewhat. What little I've seen of Minshew hasn't impressed me. Wentz hasn't impressed me much either. The top two QB's are Rogers and Wilson. I think both are looking for starting jobs and paychecks that match. Flacco is one that accepts the mentor backup job and wouldn't cost that much. I like Flacco in that respect and think he could win games if needed.

Another thought would be what if Shedeur Sanders fell to us in the draft or drafting another good rookie QB? If they panned out and so did McCarthy we'd have some great trade bait in the future.

If they impressed you that much, they'd be starting somewhere. We're just looking for a guy that is capable of filling in and keeping us afloat for a game or two. Minshew and Wentz can do that.

How do they both pan out? I guess one could play really well, get hurt for an extended period and the other comes in and plays really well too?

I'm totally fine with drafting a QB in a later round as a guy to potentially groom, but no way in the 1st.

Confirmed: Vikings are trading G Ed Ingram to Houston for a 2026 6th-round draft pick. Ingram, a 2nd-round pick in 2022, gets a fresh start after he was benched midway through last season.

Drafting another QB in the first when you already have a young first round QB is rare. Jimmy Johnson did it when Aikman was still a rookie. He drafted another top rated QB named Steve Walsh. The starting job was won by Aikman, then Johnson traded Walsh for a 1st, second, and third round pick. The advantage was Dallas was able to see which of two top rated rookie QB's was the best and ended up getting their draft pick back for Walsh plus a few extras. Of course no one was better at drafting and trading then Jimmy Johnson as he built the Cowboy's 90's dynasty.

Totally different era - 35 years ago! And Walsh may have netted a 1st (#14 overall), 2nd and 3rd, but he cost Dallas the #1 overall pick in 1990.

And the only reason he played at all for Dallas was an Aikman injury.

The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly decided that J.J. McCarthy will be their starting quarterback in the 2025 season, according to a report by Tom Pelissero. Additionally, Aaron Rodgers is not an option for head coach Kevin O’Connell.

“The likely scenario now is that the Vikings will roll with last year’s first round draft pick J.J. McCarthy as their starting quarterback in 2025. I would anticipate they’re going to continue to pursue a veteran, but this will be a backup situation. I do not expect it to be Aaron Rodgers. Look for J.J. McCarthy, barring something unforeseen, to be the Vikings’ starting quarterback in 2025.”

Minnesota is planning to release its 2019 first-round pick Garrett Bradbury unless a trade can be worked out, per sources.

Bradbury’s standing was altered after the Vikings signed former Colts Pro-Bowl center Ryan Kelly.

KAM getting a 6th rounder for Ingram is like Lloyd Chrismas selling the Shaggin Wagon for a better gas mileage scooter.

Vikings sign OT Justin Skule.

quote:

Skule will be the new swing tackle (replacing Quessenberry) and a stopgap for Darrisaw

Played 833 career snaps at LT, 234 at RT

Has been in similar schemes to KOC: 2 years (12 starts) with the Niners, then 5 starts last year with the Bucs (Liam Coen). Solid grades last year

New #Vikings T Justin Skule last season, per @PFF:

• 361 Total Snaps
• 1 Penalty
• 4 Sacks Allowed
• 12 Pressures Allowed
• 2 QB Hits Allowed
• 66.4 Pass Block Grade
• 68.9 Run Block Grade

I'd take Cooper Rush.

Last year:

Rush: 4-4, 1844 yards, (61%), 12 TDs, 5 INTs
Dak: 3-5, 1978 yards (65%), 11 TDs, 8 INTs

Carson Wentz. Lots of experience, and success, familiarity with the system (Rams, worked with Josh McCown), recovered from all his past injuries, and an almost hometown boy (NoDak). Besides, we need a big ginger QB to replace Darnold.

I'm nervous on a Kirkyboy reunion after he is released by the Falcons. Russel Wilson type deal to be the backup at 1 mill.

If Ingram is worth a 6th and with the lack of serviceable C's in the league we should be able to get a 6th for Bradbury.

I'll feel a lot better when they sign a replacement for Brandel. He was the worst of the 3 IOL.
