Carson Wentz was in for a workout today. It's safe to say that neither Howell or Rypien is going to he QB2.

And he's signed...and Howell is traded

we didn't lose too much value on the Howell trade, as he cost us a 5th, but we are giving him and a 6th to the Eagles for a 5th and a 7th

Which all of it is weird, because we could have just signed Wentz in the first place for nothing and he could have been here for training camp

Did they really think SH was worth a shot? (shit?)

Anything in return for Howell is a win.

What we spent to get him was worth the chance. I don't mind taking that risk ... as long as you don't double down on the mistake and hold onto it for too long because of your ego or fear of criticism.

[Speaking of holding on to mistakes a bit too long, the Eagles released Cine to make room for Howell!]

CB and WR/Return dude ... come on down.

I think Howell was a swap of 5ths (#142 for 172), which is a high 7th.

Loosely, at the end of the day Kwesi gave up a 6th and received a 5th.

Wheeling and dealing at the margins!

There is an entire NFL subculture of late round pick swaps. Stock up on the 5ths, 6ths, and 7ths so you can horse trade for the Sam Howell types!

Yeah, the Vikings thought Howell was worth a shot. He is just 25 with 18 starts under his belt and is considered to have some upside. Get him squared away and they have a quality young back up with some experience. KOC tried to unlock his potential and failed. Howell just doesn't process fast enough.

At the end of the day, the Vikings gave up a 5th last year and a 6th next year and got a 6th last year and a 5th and 7th next year.

So is that 5th what Carolina wants in trade for Thielen?

Rumors are that Carolina is holding out for a 3rd for Thielen and we offered a 4th. Hard to justify a 3rd for Thielen considering we couldn't get anything for him before we cut him.

If true, Kwesi is an idiot to offer a 4th. He's a low 5th type.

It's probably one of those deals where we give a 4th and get Theilen and a 5th or 6th in return.

You would ghink after this past draft we would hold onto those resources tightly.

We do have a projected 10 picks next year. So we can do a little trading but I wouldn't give up too many picks. Carolina has 7 receivers they would like to keep, so a Thielen deal may happen before the Monday deadline.

Theilen has transitioned to more of an elite slot receiver in Carolina. I think he'd fit in well here as slot receiver between Jefferson and Addison.
