Since it didn't take long for Nelson to choose the Av's over coming home there are no other available FA centers worth trying to get.
All NHL teams need solid #2 centers so it's going to take a lot pry one away from other teams with them in such short supply.

These 2 sentences are really tied together. The market was weak to begin with. If they want to make it splash at that position it's going to cost a lot!

Which is why Rossi's 7yr / $49M demand is actually market reality. That should make it easy for the Wild to get good return for him, since they obviously don't want to pay him. From what I have read, Rossi may have been open to a bridge deal at one point, but after the playoff slap in the face, he is no longer willing to do that. His position is either commit to me and pay me or trade me. My guess is they trade him and employ the strategy of hope that Yurov can step into the #2 center role.

The decision to boot Rossi to the 4th line, so Freddy could center the second line just looks dumber every day. It's clear that Rossi isn't a "Guerin Guy" and is never going to have the faith of the organization.

Okay, here is an interesting one. The Rangers are apparently in the market for a C#2 under 25 and they would also like to move Alexis Lafrenière. Any interest in the #1 player taken the year Rossi was drafted? To this point, Rossi has been the more prolific scorer, but Lafrenière is big, fast and talented. He is a year removed from a 28 goal season. The drawback is that it wouldn't address the #2C issue.

I trade them Rossi even up in heartbeat. We will still need another center, but at least we get some top 6 talent in return.

After reading this, I have to back off that statement.....
The breakthrough earned Lafreniere a seven-year, $52.15 million contract he signed with the Rangers on Oct. 25, 2024, an average annual value of $7.45 million set to begin the following season.

He isn't worth more than Boldy.

The size thing is pure BS.
One of my favorite players all time had only 1 inch and 7 lbs on Rossi.

We need to get bigger on both sides. Zucc is what 5'6" and he plays physical so it can be done. The problem isn't Rossi.....the problem is they haven't developed anyone else (outside of the high draft picks) so they are stuck with trading him but I think the 2 that need to be traded are Spurgeon/Brodin-----except it should have been 2 years ago. Now they don't have the value.

I want them to ease that dude in to the fire. It wasn't fair what they did with him at the end of the season. For good reason he looked super shaky. Not his fault given the circumstances but don't crush his confidence. Putting him to QB the PP was a disaster, IMO.

There are absolutely no good options for a top 6 C in free agency. I think they are pushing for trade packages around Rossi to upgrade the position. In the end, they may have to break down and sign him.

Now I am reading that Judd Brackett is on the hot seat. I remember it was considered quite a coupe when Billy hired him. He had a pretty impressive track record in the draft. That hasn't carried over to the Wild. Outside of Rossi, his draft haven't produced much.

Look at Iowa..... If we had a system in place to develop young talent it sure would help. Guerin is just looking for a scapegoat for his failures as a GM that can build a contender.

Ottawa is showing interest in him too. I hope that playing for his home team would be enough to sway him to go with a Wild offer, even if Ottawa slightly overbids.
