If it was last year KK basically played the first and at times the 2nd and third lines until he got hurt.

I'm just trying to give Rossi a big RW, since Guerin and Hynes think he is such a panty waste. Tarasenko is a big boy at 6'1" and 219 lbs.

I think Rossi is gonzo....there isn't much available for FA so a couple days will go by and someone will bite. Turn Hartman (after he submits his 15 team), Rossi, and one of our fragile Defenseman into a Stud Center. I heard rumors about Ohgren but why not keep him and get rid of Harman.

I doubt Rossi is going anywhere. Guerin hunted deals for him right up to the draft and nothing acceptable materialized. Vancouver offered their 15th over all pick and that about as good as the offers got. On top of that, he saw Buffalo accept a weak return for JJ Paterka. It appears teams are not willing to pay as much in return for a #2 center as Billy had hoped.

Since the draft, Guerin's comments have shifted dramatically. "I don't know where these rumors that I don't like Rossi are coming from" ...Marco is a good hockey player...We have always liked Rossi. Now Guerin says the Wild are in position to match any offer sheet that Rossi signs, but they would prefer to just negotiate a deal with him. He says he is not worried and believes it will get done.

I think trading Freddy and picking up Tarasenko were pretty clear indicators that Guerin has thrown in the towel on trading Rossi.

Let's see.....Sturm for 2 x $2 million without any NMC or Boeser for 7 x $7.25 million. I like it and also like keeping some cash handy for later.

I don't think this is a dead wood pick up. Like Tarasenko, I think it was a surprisingly good move by Billy. Sturm was brought in to address two big needs:

1. Face-off wins. Sturm is very good at face-offs.
2. Penalty kill. The Wild PK sucks corn crusted ass and Sturm is really good penalty killer.

Sturm was brought in to be a 4th line center/ penalty killer/ situational face-off man and nothing more. He is very well suited to that role. Schematically for the team, he is also big and fast. The Wild could use both.

Sorry for the late response. We are on a 3 week road trip through the pacific coast. Signal is shotty at best. Sturm is just the latest example. He may actually be a good fit but I’m sick of the reruns. Let’s try something else 🤟

I get what you're saying Jeff. I really do. Leo said the start of free agency was Christmas day and it feels like we got socks. I too would love to see the Wild make that move that would have me jumping out of my chair. The problem is those moves just aren't there at this time.

Any coveted free agents re-upped with there teams before Xmas day. That left the likes of Brock Boeser, who couldn't check his own shadow. Amazing that a guy who's defense is so bad that he finished -25, despite having a +50 advantage in scoring plays he was involved in, got 7 years at $7.25M.

The draft was weak this year, which limited ability to make deals.

The trade market just seems dead. Buffalo finally moved JJ Peterka for a disappointing return. Billy shopped a #2 center relentlessly and couldn’t find a deal.

In the end, they made a couple of low risk incremental improvements and left cap room for when the market changes. It doesn't fire me up either, but it's preferable to locking years and money into someone like Boeser.

Pretty much every team in the league is standing pat for now which makes it real hard to make any deals.
The nice thing is we finally have some cap space to do what it takes to keep Kirill on the team and make some moves once the season gets going.
Other than Kirill we still need to sign Rossi and we will be fine going in to the season.

Pretty much every team in the league is standing pat for now which makes it real hard to make any deals.
The nice thing is we finally have some cap space to do what it takes to keep Kirill on the team and make some moves once the season gets going.
Other than Kirill we still need to sign Rossi and we will be fine going in to the season.

It's like everyone was waiting for the cap to finally jump and now that it finally happened everyone is reluctant to give up their breathing room. Maybe as training camp nears things will loosen up.

I'm back in civilization after chasing bigfoot for about 3 weeks. Sounds like what Tim is describing, from what I'm reading. FA, in general, has been just 'blah'. Everyone just re-uping and teams pretty much sitting at status quo.

I've really got no problem with signings like Sturm. I just think our needle has moved from .7% of winning the cup to .9%. I wasn't expecting the moon but at least we didn't overpay for some slop (you know the name/s)

No matter what moves they make/don't make:

Resign KK
Boldy keeps improving (30 goal season)
JEE stays relatively healthy
MZ doesn't fall off the age cliff
Gus has another really good year
the Old D stays healthy, the young D keeps getting experience

If those thing happen we are better than the end of this. Couple that with the addition of Tara/Sturm on FO's and PK, we should be a little better than last year. We aren't winning the cup but we could push a first round to 6 games
