Heard ESPN had a segment on Rondale Moore's passing while showing pictures of Myles Price. What a bunch of idiots.

Again, what does this guy have to do to prove himself to you?

To prove what ? Sam Darnold proved he could win a Super Bowl, just like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Nick Foles. Darnold, Dilfer and Johnson all showed they could win the Super Bowl their team had the best defense in the league.

Should Darnold win multiple Super Bowls, that would put him clearly above Dilfer, Johnson and Foles, and probably over many other QBs that only won just 1 Super Bowl.

So now he has to win a second? You people sure do like to move the goalposts.

If he wins a second, there will only be three quarterbacks in the history of the game to win more.

Some of you Vikings fans are funny. Darnold has won a Super Bowl. Tarkenton has won zero. Yet, Darnold would need to win a second to be considered great. Tarkenton was 0-3. They think he's one of the greats of all time.

Fran Tarkenton Super Bowl Stats:

That, folks, is the definition of choker!

IF winning a Super Bowl makes you one of the greatest, then we would all agree that Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Nick Foles are all one of the greats.

Should Sam win another Super Bowl, it would put him above those 3.

IF any QB wins a Super Bowl for the Vikings ....

Define great. FYI, If you make it to the NFL you are a pretty great player in my opinion.

Miami led the NFL in defensive scoring in 1973.
Pittsburgh was #2 in the NFL in defensive scoring and led the NFL in fewest defensive yards in 1974.
Oakland was a mere 12th in defensive scoring in 1976.

Far cry from the 2024 Lions who after injuries wiped out the defense was giving up 33+ ppg for a month, then after holding Minny to just 3 FGs and Darnold to 166 yards, got gashed by Washington for another 45 points. And the Rams were ranked 18th in defensive scoring.

Point is, you look stupid comparing three all-time powerhouses and defenses to 2024 Det and LA.

He can’t emphasize enough that patchwork options won’t work long term. While his roster building was able to get Buffalo to the postseason with Tyrod Taylor after Manuel went bust, it still wasn’t enough to put them in real contention.

“My misconception was that you could build enough talent on a team until you find that quarterback to compete and get into the playoffs,” Whaley said. “You can but you can’t really be a contender.”

The challenge of the patient approach that Whaley suggests is that the NFL is not patient. If the Vikings sell out their resources to win in 2026 because they haven’t won in the playoffs since 2019 and everyone is getting desperate, the next GM is going to have a tough road ahead.

And then you have to hit on the QB you stockpiled picks to move up for. Funny how he outsourced so to speak with a retired guy to determine what future craft class was stocked at QB.

Once read an article about the importance of Minnesota finding its QB with Culpepper while the Bears were floundering at QB year after year. This could well be an era where that is reversed.

Then JJ McCarthy is already great, in your opinion, and it will be great when he leads the Vikings to their 1st Super Bowl win.

Sources: The #Vikings have had trade talks with teams regarding 2x Pro Bowl DT Javon Hargrave.

Hargrave started 15 games last year and had 3.5 sacks in his first season with Minnesota.

I think Hargrave should be a cut but if teams want to trade for him grab a 6th or 7th.

From SI.

UFA - LB Eric Wilson

A real case can be made for Wilson as the Vikings' defensive MVP this season. Playing on a one-year, $2.6 million deal, he was flat-out incredible in Brian Flores' scheme. Wilson finished with 115 tackles, 17 TFLs, 6.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. Since tackles for loss became an official stat in 1999, he's the first player to ever reach those four numbers. Re-signing him figures to be a priority for the Vikings, especially if they get Flores back.

ERFAs are players with two or fewer accrued seasons and an expiring contract. They're easy to retain on a one-year, league-minimum contract if the team chooses to go that route.
DT Jalen Redmond
DT Taki Taimani
OLB Bo Richter
RB Zavier Scott

Redmond is the important name here after an excellent season that saw him record six sacks, 12 total TFLs, and five pass breakups. The Vikings could keep the former UFL standout around on a standard one-year deal, or they could reward him for his emergence with a multi-year contract that comes with a sizable raise.

No problem. Backload, assign cap to void years, create additional empty void year placeholders. Just wing it from year to year.

Once again, I’m hoping they address the OL and CB in the draft..

Get rid of Hockenson, Jones, Chandler, and HSmith..

The OL listed depth chart is a fn disaster..

CB is a close second.

Our OL is an injury to any..ANY.. QB served up on a strip sack fumble platter.

Packers free agent QB Malik Willis is in demand, as expected, and interested teams I’ve spoken to at the Combine in Indianapolis believe him getting at least $30M per year is a foregone conclusion.

You take a QB evey year and force the current #1 to put up or shut up and hit the road..

You keep a decent journeyman QB to fill in if injury has pens to the one, but you ALways push the current starter, by for him to be better or begone.

QB always made big money.....the salary cap has doubled in the last 10 years so everyone is making more:

Bigger money doesn’t say anything.

Guarenteed money does.

To Dan’s point, who set that precedent?

Would some other qb have done that besides Kirk? Sure.

But probably with a better return on investment than one playoff game. Kirk’s deal with the devil has placed him again in a position this year to take advantage of desperation. He’s like someone that shows up in a war zone and sells baby pickles to starving people for $1,000 each.

We’ll see how well we pass the ‘fool me once’ sniff test in the next few weeks.

Between our gaping analytics vacuum and the impunity of a temporary regime with a free pass untill the summer … I wouldnt be surprised by Cousins Wentz JJ Brosmer shewt coach Mannion in our qb room … but honestly, I’ll just take the jar of baby pickles.

Yep, the guaranteed money. Conversely, contracts still have dopey stuff like when Culpepper signed a new $100 million contract one incentive was $x million if he led special teams in tackles. Back then you heard more about likely/unlikely to be earned incentives factoring into the cap.

Saw an ESPN clip that Cousins is 4th in all-time NFL earnings behind Stafford, Rodgers, and Brady.

good lord it looks like the Anthony Richardson talk is gaining steam...

That does nothing for us

He is a project like JJ

We still need a QB to start this year

Thats insane.

There are some pretty feeble options out there but an avg qb specimen vs the biggest plutocrat to ever lace them up … difficult choice.

If we do pursue kirk, we will need more than the fifty cap gurus we’ve assembled to NOT get us back to the starting point in 2022.

Oh, I forgot … contracts and cap space are just numbers to play with. No problemo.
