Did a quick check to review Marty's "one comment about it": If Jones is hurt, any interest in getting a much younger, similar back to him in Breece Hall for a 3rd rounder? That's exactly my point, Kwesi sucks at drafting, and wouldn't draft a RB better than Breece Hall in the 3rd round. Give the Jets a 3rd rounder for Hall. Hall is almost 6 years younger than Aaron Jones, and gives you a great thunder and lightning combo with Mason for the next 3 years. Basically the same combo you have now, except the RBs would be better paired as they're almost the same age. I understand now, instead of having a great 1-2 punch at RB with Hall and Mason for the next 3 years, the Vikings will still have the thunder with Mason, the lightening will be an aging Jones, or the rising star that is Scott, and an extra 10 million to throw at injury prone players. Got it Thanks for undoing the correction that autocorrect did to my lightning, you bring the thunder from down under. Wow, imagine paying 2 good RBs that are entering their prime, when you can instead have an aging one, or a more average one to complement the thunder. Maybe Breece Hall now gets hurt, and then the Vikings can get him at a discount price in free agency 2026. I suppose Zavier Scott is a lighter version of Breece Hall, so you end up with Thunder and Lightening Zavier Scott does seem like a better option than the lightening running of Ty Chandler. I guess if RB Zavier Scott produces the lightening instead of the lightning to Mason's thunder, and there isn't any money available, the Vikings could always draft in 2026 the injured stud defensive back Xavier Scott from the University of Illinois. Phil, I was saying we would go with Hall and Mason next year, let Jones go, have 2 RBs near to each other in age. I don't think much of Scott. If it was only a 3rd rounder, I would have gone with the younger Hall, to pair with Mason for the next few years. Tom, I have made several valid points in regards to Breece Hall, your judgement of what is common sense notwithstanding, or any sort of imaginary evisceration that came from your inside your head. I didn't fabricate a need, I suggested a sound way to have a great combo at RB, with guys that are similar in age. It would have been nice to have paired Hall with Mason, but there are many different ways towards getting a SB ring, getting McCarthy was the 1st great step. I wouldn't be surprised if the team has someone looking over things that fans have written, small minded people can't comprehend teams doing that. My idea didn't get taken up before the trade deadline, I should have posted it sooner. Maybe the team thinks it's a better idea to just get him next year, not have to give up draft capital in a season where the Vikings aren't quite a Super Bowl contender in McCarthy's 1st year of playing. They're probably just a wildcard contender at best, so it is probably wiser to wait for the off-season, I am just not very patient when I have great ideas. I think picking up Breece Hall would have been a solid addition, and just a 3rd rounder would have been fine, considering how well Kwesi has been drafting. Yes, it was posted before the trade line, it was a little too close to the deadline, I was still hoping the Vikings would have made that move. It doesn't speak for anything, no team felt a strong enough need, and Kwesi wasn't as forward thinking on it, as I was. "Hair-brained" ? - Pairing Mason with a RB his age is a solid idea, it's probably what they'll end up doing in the off-season, it would have been a great idea to do it now. The way Kwesi drafts, getting a talented RB like Hall for a 3rd rounder would have been a haul. I don't care if there isn't immediate support, I am usually ahead of the curve on many things. Bill, just because you're small minded, doesn't mean the entire group here is also small minded. Just because other GMs didn't make the Jets an offer, doesn't mean not making an offer was a good idea. The playoff teams didn't seem to have a strong enough need at RB, we'll never know if he could have helped some of the teams that fall short. At least Hall will likely be available for Kwesi to get in FA. That is a good point Scott, you can go cheaper, and not as good with Zavier Scott. I agree that Hall isn't on the level of Barkley, which is why the ideal is to pair Hall with a power back like Mason. There is no desperation, you have the luxury to pair Hall with Mason as they enter their prime, you have Hall as a proven commodity, instead of gambling with a 3rd round draft pick, which has pretty bad odds considering Kwesi's drafting. Hall and Mason are closer in age than Jones and Mason, thank you. It's not imagined that I am ahead of the curve, I just usually am. The non playoff teams are the ones trading players before the deadline, the potential playoff teams are the ones acquiring players, that should help you. You pay Hall just the right amount, they always want more than they're worth, you pay for great players, line up enough players that are in their prime with bargains and some rookie contracts, you build a Super Bowl team. This whole idea is your creation. I never said the Vikings are the most likely the team that will sign Breece Hall during FA, I was saying that the time to pair him with Mason was right now. If they deem Jones to be past his prime during the off-season, then they will no doubt be looking for a back that is similar to Hall.
