I still haven't seen the last game, just highlights, and Chase Daniels QB study on McCarthy.

Did Jones look like he had his burst back ? He looked like he had lost it earlier in the season.

Clearly, the critical element of your 3:00 a.m. scenario is your endlessly repeated claimed benefits of pairing two RBs that are the same age. Not sure why that is so important but it's obviously a product of your self-proclaimed "advanced thinking". Nonetheless, it didn't seem accurate. Sure enough, Mason and Hall are two years apart age wise. So, well... poof?

Anyway glad you think you are "usually ahead of the curve". And that your standard assortment of imagined/CYA disclaimers (bolded in your paragraph) help you justify that in your mind. It's also pretty cool you know who the playoff teams are!

And barring a severe injury to Mason, I'm happy to bet you the Vikings will not sign Hall in free agency. How much shall we bet? Is there a process where someone here can hold the funds? As long as Mason is healthy throughout, I'll give you until the last day of free agency. $1000? I'll give you 2:1 odds, i.e. I pay double if I lose

Hall and Mason are closer in age than Jones and Mason, thank you. It's not imagined that I am ahead of the curve, I just usually am. The non playoff teams are the ones trading players before the deadline, the potential playoff teams are the ones acquiring players, that should help you.

I would love to make a bet like that with you, but with the large pool of teams, would need much better than just 2:1 odds. Bill, I wouldn't trust you with making a bet like that, wouldn't trust you with anything financial, so don't bother.

I'm all ears, and like I said someone can hold the money up front.

Were you around when on separate occasions Marty posted for weeks that we sign David Boston and Bernardo Harris? I asked the moderators to build a separate thread for one or both of them because his zeal for them was nonstop. The moderators did, which meant the Vikings thread was finally clear of the his rabble.

Anyway, his Hall infatuation has a long ways to go before it meets the Harris/Boston thresholds. But free agency still looms....

My ideas aren't always good, I will admit that, and it's great that a simpleton like Bill can keep bringing up bad ideas. It's easier to not present any new ideas, stick with the obvious, and criticize anyone that has a new idea. But that is not my style, that is for simple minds like you Bill.

It's no infatuation with Hall, that is your colorful world, your made-up world. Hall was just a great idea of mine, that didn't come to fruition right now.

It is not me that keeps bringing up Hall, it's mostly Bill, and I am defending my strong position.

Re the bolded, can't wait for the sequel. But in the meantime, you cling to that.

Fortunately, although the Kwesi factor is always in play, the team will be addressing other positions barring any significant changes.

As I stated earlier, 2:1 odds is horrible considering there are 32 teams in the league, and besides that Bill, I wouldn't trust you with anything financial, and getting a 3rd party involved doesn't reduce your being untrustworthy.

This whole idea is your creation. I never said the Vikings are the most likely the team that will sign Breece Hall during FA, I was saying that the time to pair him with Mason was right now. If they deem Jones to be past his prime during the off-season, then they will no doubt be looking for a back that is similar to Hall.

Even the best backs in the league right now, many of them are banged up, there are no sure things. Many of the best teams in my fantasy football league are dealing with injuries to running backs, it's good to have a stash of RBs on your bench in FF.

I was asking about Jones, does he have his burst back ?

Convenient excuses.

Jones will likely be cut mainly because the team will save $7.2M in cap. But even with that they STILL will not go after Greased Balls.

Amazing. How many pages have been devoted to a hypothetical running back trade that didn't happen and was never even on the table?

I'll move on and will chuckle when the sequel 'The Return of Greased Balls' is released for an extended stay in free agency.

I made one comment about it, was hoping for a few responses, and then move on.

Instead, there was a negative Nelly simpleton that wants to keep bringing it up, goad me because it didn't happen, brings up past FA ideas, and then smugly tries to make it sound like it is me that keeps bringing up the topic. I am done with it, but if you want to keep bringing it up, feel free and I will usually respond.

I didn't have a chance to see the last game, does it look like Jones still has his burst, or has he lost a step ?

I made one comment about it

I'm staying off the topic but that adjunct is quite amusing. It's as if some people think recent posts they made are not viewable to others.

For full context, I made one comment about it, was hoping for a few responses, and then move on.

True in the sense you make a comment about it, several posters gave many reasons why that didn't make sense, BUT instead of electing to "move on" YOU kept defending your idea to various posters. Then our tit for tat started, probably when I called it a hair-brain idea or some such label after first giving straightforward reasons why that should be a no-go. And I still think it's... well, let's just say Kwesi didn't have the same idea and I hope he doesn't in free agency.

Did a quick check to review Marty's "one comment about it":

If Jones is hurt, any interest in getting a much younger, similar back to him in Breece Hall for a 3rd rounder?

That's exactly my point, Kwesi sucks at drafting, and wouldn't draft a RB better than Breece Hall in the 3rd round. Give the Jets a 3rd rounder for Hall.
Hall is almost 6 years younger than Aaron Jones, and gives you a great thunder and lightning combo with Mason for the next 3 years. Basically the same combo you have now, except the RBs would be better paired as they're almost the same age.

I understand now, instead of having a great 1-2 punch at RB with Hall and Mason for the next 3 years, the Vikings will still have the thunder with Mason, the lightening will be an aging Jones, or the rising star that is Scott, and an extra 10 million to throw at injury prone players. Got it

Thanks for undoing the correction that autocorrect did to my lightning, you bring the thunder from down under.
Wow, imagine paying 2 good RBs that are entering their prime, when you can instead have an aging one, or a more average one to complement the thunder.
Maybe Breece Hall now gets hurt, and then the Vikings can get him at a discount price in free agency 2026.

I suppose Zavier Scott is a lighter version of Breece Hall, so you end up with Thunder and Lightening
Zavier Scott does seem like a better option than the lightening running of Ty Chandler.

I guess if RB Zavier Scott produces the lightening instead of the lightning to Mason's thunder, and there isn't any money available, the Vikings could always draft in 2026 the injured stud defensive back Xavier Scott from the University of Illinois.

Phil, I was saying we would go with Hall and Mason next year, let Jones go, have 2 RBs near to each other in age. I don't think much of Scott.

If it was only a 3rd rounder, I would have gone with the younger Hall, to pair with Mason for the next few years.

Tom, I have made several valid points in regards to Breece Hall, your judgement of what is common sense notwithstanding, or any sort of imaginary evisceration that came from your inside your head.

I didn't fabricate a need, I suggested a sound way to have a great combo at RB, with guys that are similar in age.

It would have been nice to have paired Hall with Mason, but there are many different ways towards getting a SB ring, getting McCarthy was the 1st great step.

I wouldn't be surprised if the team has someone looking over things that fans have written, small minded people can't comprehend teams doing that.

My idea didn't get taken up before the trade deadline, I should have posted it sooner. Maybe the team thinks it's a better idea to just get him next year, not have to give up draft capital in a season where the Vikings aren't quite a Super Bowl contender in McCarthy's 1st year of playing. They're probably just a wildcard contender at best, so it is probably wiser to wait for the off-season, I am just not very patient when I have great ideas.

I think picking up Breece Hall would have been a solid addition, and just a 3rd rounder would have been fine, considering how well Kwesi has been drafting.

Yes, it was posted before the trade line, it was a little too close to the deadline, I was still hoping the Vikings would have made that move.

It doesn't speak for anything, no team felt a strong enough need, and Kwesi wasn't as forward thinking on it, as I was.

"Hair-brained" ? - Pairing Mason with a RB his age is a solid idea, it's probably what they'll end up doing in the off-season, it would have been a great idea to do it now. The way Kwesi drafts, getting a talented RB like Hall for a 3rd rounder would have been a haul.
I don't care if there isn't immediate support, I am usually ahead of the curve on many things. Bill, just because you're small minded, doesn't mean the entire group here is also small minded.
Just because other GMs didn't make the Jets an offer, doesn't mean not making an offer was a good idea. The playoff teams didn't seem to have a strong enough need at RB, we'll never know if he could have helped some of the teams that fall short.
At least Hall will likely be available for Kwesi to get in FA.

That is a good point Scott, you can go cheaper, and not as good with Zavier Scott.
I agree that Hall isn't on the level of Barkley, which is why the ideal is to pair Hall with a power back like Mason.

There is no desperation, you have the luxury to pair Hall with Mason as they enter their prime, you have Hall as a proven commodity, instead of gambling with a 3rd round draft pick, which has pretty bad odds considering Kwesi's drafting.

Hall and Mason are closer in age than Jones and Mason, thank you. It's not imagined that I am ahead of the curve, I just usually am. The non playoff teams are the ones trading players before the deadline, the potential playoff teams are the ones acquiring players, that should help you.

You pay Hall just the right amount, they always want more than they're worth, you pay for great players, line up enough players that are in their prime with bargains and some rookie contracts, you build a Super Bowl team.

This whole idea is your creation. I never said the Vikings are the most likely the team that will sign Breece Hall during FA, I was saying that the time to pair him with Mason was right now. If they deem Jones to be past his prime during the off-season, then they will no doubt be looking for a back that is similar to Hall.

#Commanders QB Jayden Daniels only has a dislocated elbow; there's no fractures or ligament damage and he won't need surgery, per source. The team won't place him on injured reserve and will re-evaluate him after the Week 12 bye.

Thanks Bill, you reinforced my point that I said very little about it, but I did defend my point against points that were either weak or invalid. There was one point that was a good point, and I agreed with Scott that it's probably a better idea to wait until FA and not have Hall for this year, but get him without giving up a draft pick.

By your reposting all of my comments on it Bill, you reinforced my final conclusion:

Pairing Mason with a RB his age is a solid idea, it's probably what they'll end up doing in the off-season, it would have been a great idea to do it now. The way Kwesi drafts, getting a talented RB like Hall for a 3rd rounder would have been a haul.

I will say nothing more on the topic, unless others want to keep bringing it up.
