Speaking of Addison, whatever happened to Josh Gordon?

On February 27, 2021, Gordon signed with the FCF Zappers of the Fan Controlled Football League while being suspended from the NFL.

On January 1, 2023, the Seattle Sea Dragons selected Gordon in the sixth round of the 2023 XFL Supplemental draft. The Sea Dragons folded when the XFL and USFL merged to create the United Football League (UFL). On January 5, 2024, it was revealed that Gordon has no interest to return to professional spring football.

i think the nfl would be overstepping if they suspended him if all he did was argue with a noodle bar manager for a few minutes for trying to shut the place down earlier than posted....

If it took several requests from security and eventually calling in the police, it took more than "a few minutes". There is also nothing I've seen to them "trying to shut the place down earlier than posted". Are you sure you didn't just make that part up?

The report notes that Addison was asked by casino security several times to leave the premises and refused. The police then attempted to get him to leave and he had to be 'redirected' several times towards the exit before they finally decided to arrest him.

He was given Notice on the spot. He can't be arrested immediately upon being given notice. He has to persist in remaining on the premises to trigger the charges. There has to be a reasonable chance afforded for him to leave on his own.

Again, what is the number of games you're OK with him missing due to suspension each year?

yes, i did make it up...but maybe the people at the noodle bar were rude to him, and he felt slighted...i don't feel like we know the 'honest' story....

being redirected? - so they arrested him? - sounds like bullshot to me....

for 2016 addison's cap hit is about $4.4mm...his 2027 5th year option will be around $17mm...that's about $11mm/yr...i'd say he's worth that even if he loses 3-4 games each year for acting like a knucklehead....

"Being redirected" is basically trying to get him to leave. In the old days they would've thrown him out on his ass. Now all they can do is ask him to leave and try to steer him to the exit. Eventually they had to call in the police to remove him.

Nothin here sounds made up or outlandish. But it does sound like its totally in character for Addison.

Interesting thread from a lawyer familiar with these types of cases and possible implications for Addison and the Vikings.

Also, to say "he's never hurt anyone" is not true. Maybe he hasn't killed anyone but what about his team, owners and fans? We did go 2-1 during his suspension but lost to the Steelers his first game back. Can't know for sure but if was not suspended and building chemistry with the new QB could that have helped?

We missed the playoffs by a half game. Think about how much money the whole team lost by missing? Player/coach bonuses, owner income ect....if this was a first strike maybe you turn a blind eye. It was sure luck that the first 2 of 4 incidents he didn't actually hurt/kill somebody, including himself.

Fans: player ( X) HURT ME!!! because he didn’t:

Make fantasy points.

Didn’t catch that first down catch.

Took a sack.

Got a holding penalty.

Didn’t play because of an Owie.

Got suspended because he is under the NFL public conduct policy..

What the **** ever.

Addison.

Taken on its own, being 86d from a casino and ultimately booked on a trespass charge is a knucklehead move but not overly serious.

But when you combine it with his other stuff, a pattern emerges...of a knucklehead who doesn't learn.

Okay that's a bigger problem, but still maybe can be tolerated if it doesn't creep onto the field and he's still performing well.

Well...there was a drop-off there too. True, the entire receiving corps had a drop-off due to QB problems, but you can't pin all his drops on that alone.

At the end of the day, I have concerns about continuing with Addision.

Addison is definitely a concern, but with Trump attacking Minnesota, Addison can be one of the Vikings Renegade oitlaws, Vikings can become the Raiders of the Midwest.

i blame the last two games of the 2024 season and all of 2025 on o'connell...if darnold gets to the super bowl i'd vote to fire o'connell, or force him to hire a playcalling OC....

kwesi and o'connell have rehearsed this 'viking's way' promotion of an offense like it's an actual process that has had success - it has not....

give flores the reins where he's also the DC, and let's hire a real OC....

Roll tape on my comments from a year ago.

The offensive line was one of the worst in the league and O'Connell made no adjustments to the game plan against the Lions and Rams. Defensive coordinators figured it out down the stretch and the Vikings got humbled on back-to-back weekends.

Vikings fans, being emotional and not understanding football very well, decided it was Sam Darnold's fault and couldn't wait to run him out of town. 14-3 apparently wasn't good enough for the fans of a franchise that has never won a Super Bowl.

SF isn’t the Rams.

And yet, some still want to make new excuses to justify letting Darnold go to Seattle.

The guy is 28-6 as a starter over two years and 1-1 in the playoffs. His current team is the likely favorite to win the Super Bowl following a dominating win on Saturday.

Who is the Vikings quarterback? A kid that shows almost no signs of remaining in the league past about 2027-ish.

Keep making up excuses fellas. It's your choice to look stupid.

2 things can be true. KOC was an idiot for not changing the gameplan to account for a crappy OLine. Seattle has done that and it reflects in Darnold's stats. They asked him to throw a meager 17 times for a 124 yards pretty much ensuring he didn't Titanic the team. That's good coaching period.

I'm way more impressed as to how baby Kubes calls plays than with Darnold. 17 pass att and 33 rushing att. Take care of the football and control the clock. Sea strength is their defense and they undersatand that and are leaning into it.

Meanwhile O'Connell wants to throw the ball 5o times per game.

I wanted KOC fired, until the last 4 games happened.

Had one of the games been against a strong defense, it would have been more impressive.

But I feel like KOC finally gets it, and he can do the things to make the Vikings a contender, but keeping BFlo might be needed to do so.

I see McCarthy as being somewhat similar to Caleb Williams in his 1st year, and I hope to see a similar jump in performance in McCarthy starting next year, even though he doesn't have William's skill set.

I was a little surprised Atlanta hired Stefanski.

I didn't think Cleveland was all that special on offense, I didn't think Stefanski would get quickly hired for another head coaching position.

We didn't fix the offensive line(ranked 31st this year) so I'm not sure if he would have had the same success he had last year.

He(Darnold) threw a nice TD pass last night but Brosmer could have won that game for SEA last night.

Kudos to Darnold. He went to a way better situation. Top defense, great special teams, great OLine and running game. He might win a championship with SEA as they are very healthy right now.

You have to give Darnold credit. After the MN/SEA game, he was challenged to not turn the ball over and he has delivered for the most part.

Their defense and running game are very similar to 2000 Ravens.
