Now watch us draft McCoy in rd 2

And we thought Kwesi was the one calling the shots on signing injured guys...

I'll echo the sentiment that I hoped we would see a different approach to this draft.

I hoped to see a no nonsense approach, no trying to be cute or trying to be the smartest guy in the room...

Lol, I thought the same thing.

right?

message boards are for opinions

it sucks that there are so many red flags with Banks that most of our opinions are negative

https://floridagators.com/sports/football/roster/caleb-banks/17564

In 2021 he redshirted
2022: six games for the Louisville Cardinals, 2 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble.
2023: he did nothing in twelve games. 1 sack, 1 TFL.
2025: He did nothing in three games, 1 TFL, 0 sacks.

2024: 12 games, half of his season total of 7 TFL were against Ole Miss. 2.5 season total of 4.5 sacks were against Ole Miss.

As far as solo tackles, he had on average < 1 per game. In each season.

The production and impact is NOT there. If you only watched the Ole Miss game over his 4 seasons, your draft strategy would be BPA named Caleb Banks.

You're a real stick in the mud Bill.

Most of us are trying to justify our way out of a round one hangover.

But you're relentless.

Let's just wait and see what happens lol!

Highlights don't seem to really matter, but Golday looks like another Greenway, Dominique Orange looks like a total stud, Jakobe Thomas looks like a ball hawk that is very quick, good anticipation and good tackling skills, a multi Pro Bowler in the making.

Thomas was a crazy reach / pure need pick. So was Banks but if we get lucky and he gets healthy … for once … could be a solid presence even with minimal production.

Really liked the big citrus pick, the one good value in our first 3 rds … for a different body type - Flores does like his role players on the front end.

I had Golday as the one lb on my challenge list … so liked him as a player for us but not taking the toledo safety was a crime.

Its only a first reaction but, I like Orange and the investnent in the def front 7, kinda like the T/G pick … not a fan overall.

I liked the Thomas pick best so far. In a I don't know these guys until they're picked and looking at their highlights for the 1st time kind of way.

Compounding the reach for Thomas is the value return on Greenard. I get why we did the trade but if you are going to trade a major asset for peanuts … please get as much talent as you can squeeze out of those peanuts. One year of production on a big momentum season does not qualify as outstanding college production.

I’m not just quibbling over picks … hope they all turn out … just seems for all the lip service about bpa and production … we seem to be super focused on non-consensus need players.

I would rather have kept going defense than taking the T-Rex Tackle.

If he sees playing time Murray wont be able to find a launch angle to get over his head.

You got ball hawk?
.
Looked pretty clear he plays best downhill towards the LOS

Greenard. Hoped it would have been Philly's #68 instead of #98. But if he played out his contract, Turner would (probably) eat into his stats and he'd be 30 hitting free agency. Unlikely to draw a big enough contract to significantly help get a comp pick. So we sort of get two very high comp picks and clear $44M in cap off the next two seasons for a guy wanting more money. Kind of a win. If he had a great 2025 season perhaps a 2nd could have been in play.

Plus we have an additional top 100 pick in what is supposed to be a great draft next year.

Think of it from the Philly fan perspective: Wait, we just gave up two Day 2 picks for some guy who will be 29 next month and had 3 sacks? AND signed him for $100M with $50M guaranteed?

Love the Big Citrus pick mainly as far as the position. Hedge, platoon guy, whatever. Perfect world he plays NT flanked by Banks and Redmond. Rotate with the other guys.

Golday seems like the BPA, production type player the regime talked about.

Shhh, stats are not to be brought up.

I get they are to eat up blocks so maybe they are at the forefront of a new position called Defensive Blocker. Sacks are a negative stat for them because it means they went off script.

Offense.

Perhaps Brandel really will be the C. Swings to G if there is an injury with Jurgens playing C.

Have to think they will sign a vet or two at WR.

As for the much ballyhooed RB need, who knows.

I see RB as a need, surprised they didn't go there.

I also see #3 (#2 if Addison is a troublemaker) WR as an area of strong need, and there was a guy named Boston there, and a Consepcion in the 1st, which was a great baseball name.

I am a little surprised they went with so much defense, does Brez like BFlo a lot, so much so that his preference might be for BFlo to take over as HC next season?

Not taking a safety seems the most obvious mistake, but they might have just lucked into a good one with Thomas.

What I heard yesterday that was the most interesting was that by trading away Phillips for literally nothing and signing Allen and Hargrove was one of Kwesi’s biggest mistakes. I don’t know if I heard it from KFAN or Skor North but it was really seen by Pace’s play last year.

Yep. We got a decent return for a guy who wanted a big financial commitment that we couldn't do.

From what I read this morning, Golday is a perfect fit for BFlo's defense.

The lack of production is concerning with the two big boys but our DLine coach turned UDFA and UFL guy Redmond into a borderline pro bowler and unknown LDR into a serviceable DLineman.

I was actually hoping to take a flyer on CB McCoy with Philly pick but teams must be convinced his knee is in bad shape. BFlo and KOC's refusal to upgrade CBs is concerning.

Do we grab Uar Benard in the 5th or wait untill 6 or 7?

IDK. Perhaps I'm delusional and he's headed towards UDFA but I can't help but see some team pouncing early.

I think it surprised them Big Citrus was still there. The farthest away from a sexy draft I have ever seen. They are really trying to fix the trenches.

From what I read, Tiernan was a Top 60 guy. We probably like the position flexible part of it.

They liked some CBs later and signed Pierre. The kid the had in for a top 30 maybe? Malik Muhammad (CB, Texas)
