I'm rooting for a White Sox vs Brewers WS.

If the Twins are out of it, I usually have the following standards

1. Yankees must die.
2. Redsox must die (Dodgers are close to climbing into this position.
3 Dodgers must die.
4. I root for the team that has suffered the longest drought or never has won, or appeared in a WS,

That means. Rays (never won), and Guardians (last won in 1948 or so) in the AL.

and Padres and Brewers, both who've never won, in the NL.

Which means it will be Dodgers and Yankees again.

I'd accuse you of copying and pasting this from last season, but you have condensed your explanation over the years. Getting lazy?

Not Lazy, More efficient.

Pohlads don't get it even with a new one in charge.

Fans realize 2 things:

1) Payroll should be based on when you were closest to league average not when you cut it drastically.....so raising payroll from the dregs you have it now doesn't matter.
2) Carrying a third catcher all year on the roster that didn't play
3) Keeping players like Larnach and Ober a middle salaries does not help the team or justify any payroll questions.

Blaming Larnach?
They spent 4 million on him because they thought they could trade him and there wasn't a market.

We could also talk about the 10 million we are Paying Correa in 27 and 28 to play for Houston.

The Twins are on the hook for $10M in each of the next two seasons for Correa.

Jeffers getting a qualifying offer seems like a no-brainer. They should have plenty of room to roster him for $24M or so, and then leave the door open for Vahn Lackey in a couple years.
What I don't want to see for any of these low-spending teams, is just handing out inflated contracts for the sake of spending money.

Tom Pohlad told reporters that the Minnesota Twins are gonna spend some serious cash this offseason.

Why should we believe him? Because he probably won't have a choice.

Definitely do qualifying offer for Jeffers. I don't think he takes it. As a catcher, he needs to sign a long-term deal now and it'll be with a big market.

It is a big enough amount he might take it.

The Twins should definitely make the qualifying offer. Very doubtful he accepts it. Boras will probably negotiate him something in the neighborhood of 4 years and $60 million.

I'm thinking more like 4 and $90.

He won't get anything close to that. He projects to $15-$16 million per year on a multi year deal. He won't get the equivalent of his QO on a multi year contract.

He's a decent defensive catcher who can hit with pop. Teams like the Yankees were salivating at getting him at the trade deadline. I have a feeling he's going to get a little more than people expect.

He won't get $90M on 4 years. $70M would be be a stretch.

I want him back. My point is good hitting catchers are hard to find. So he will probably get paid more than the Twins will be willing to give him.

I want him to bridge the gap until the Tait's and Lackey's are ready.

I want Caratini to be our #1 catcher in 2027. Lackey will be ready by 2028.
