I think Luck will be a very good QB

But some people are already putting him on Elway/Montana NFL level before he even gets there

That is a mistake

If Philly gives up more than 10 points tonight, only Houston (20) will have given up fewer than Detroit (23) through 2 games.

The Vikes win this one for coach Frazier.

Vikes 41
Cards 23

McNabb has his best game, hits Berrian, Shiancoe, Rudolph and Harvin each for a TD, and runs one in himself.

I think the Vikes will win this one, but there will be some who say, "who cares ?", and "does this win mean we're not going to be able to get luck with the 1st pick in the draft ?".

If the Vikes don't beat the Cards they might not win a game all year.

The only game as easy is maybe the Broncos at home.

I think the Vikes will win these 2 games, and maybe get lucky in a 3rd game.

2-14, maybe 3-13 at best.

Unless of course, beating the Cards energizes McNabb and he gets them to rattle off 4 or 5 wins in a row ????

No, I'm sticking with 2-14, I don't think they'll get lucky on the road.

McNabb pulls himself in the 2nd quarter because of throwing grounders.

Ponder gets broken in half midway through the 3rd.

Webb comes in and drives the team to two 4th quarter TDs for a much-needed win.  Frazier confirms that McNabb will start next week and hundreds of thousands of REAL Viking fans weep.

I just don't see the facination with Webb.

If you've been around long enough, you see a fascination for every backup QB, be that Todd Bouman or Gino Torretta. The scary thing is we went with Tarvaris Jackson for long enough that backup QBs starting seem like a good idea.

Webb is every bit his 60 QB rating/no passing TDs, a big time project backup QB. He's a running QB, worth keeping on the team for a pinch but definitely not to become a starter.

Webb just seems like a winner to me.

He's shown he can make clutch throws on 3rd down, I just haven't seen enough clutch TD throws to be convinced he can be great, kind of hoping he gets his chance at QB, but defer to the coaches when they made him #3.

How many TDs throws have you seen from him?

Joe Webb has zero TD passes.

On 3rd downs over 6 yards, Webb is 8-17, with a pick, fumble and a 4.2 ypa. He's just not a passer.

What he does do is run ok, he's taken off 5 times and gotten 34 yards that way.

That's why they get paid the big bucks

8-17 on 3rd downs over 6 yards isn't bad for a QB that's only started a few games. I wonder how some of the greatest NFL QBs did on that stat for their 1st 5 games ?

It's still too small of sample size. I think you should ignore most QBs 1st 10 games games, and then look closely at the next 6, taking into account supporting cast and strength of opponents, and then I think you know about what to expect from a QB.

Ignoring them is a long way from stating that he's proven something.

Marty... 8/17 is 47%  It's less than 50/50 he will complete a throw, much less get six yards..or a first down.. we have that now.. This team is HORRIBLE at converting third downs no matter what the distance...

Can I be your crack dealer?.. I have  real nice selection of glass pipes...I'll throw one in with your next purchase...

Sorry D, I mistakenly thought 8 of 17 meant 8 CONVERSIONS for a 1st down.

I don't know to much about crack, but will defer to you as someone who probably knows which glass type is best, should I ever take up that habit.

I think the Vikes are now at a disadvantage with refs in 2nd halves as they are percieved as not being a good team, last place in the division. That COULD be an advantage in the Luck sweepstakes, but we're going to need Indy to win a few games, hopefully Manning can come in and accomplish that later in the season.

I'm o.k. with the Vikes being at a disadvantage with refs because they are percieved as being a bad team, IF, in future seasons the Vikes have the refs to their ADVANTAGE as they are percieved as being a good team.

I think the Vikes might be percieved that way, IF they can get Luck and have him playing while Peterson is still in his prime.
