They just always take QBs

It's pretty much why I consider the NFL MVP award a sham.

I agree

I love the idea of separating QB out like Cy Young

I think Peyton WILL get it

I would not call it a travesty

31/10 is nothing to sneeze at

Clearly Peterson is more valuable

The Vikings have no offense but him with Harvin out

The Broncos were a playoff team last year with sorry Tebow at QB

You could make a case that LUCK has been more valuable to his team!

All things considered, and I listed them a few pages ago, Peterson is why we are even in the playoff discussion and with one more win we will have tripled our win total from last year. All of your points are correct wrt Manning. And IMO it will be a travesty if Manning beats out Peterson.

The Broncos were an 8-8 team that had some of the most amazing luck you've ever seen. They are now a serious contender for best team in the league by adding one player. They have 3 more wins and two patsies on the schedule.

The Vikings were 3-13 with Peterson last year, they have 5 more wins with him this year and two games where they will be underdogs.

"Most Valuable Player" is slanted to QBs, because QB is the most valuable position on the field. Teams win with shitty running backs all the time, you literally can have a stable of crappy ones rotating and still be an elite team, teams do it year after year. Meanwhile it's been what, 2 decades since a team has won with a bad QB.

That's why I'd have the 2 awards and rename them. One for QB of the year, one for Player of the year. Most years they'd split that with one QB and one non QB, but if a QB dominated enough he could win both.

If we make the playoffs there will be co-MVP's.

If not it's all Manning's.

I don't know.  There has been a lot of clammorning about the award to this point in the season.  Maybe the obvious bias towards the QB position will take a back seat to AD this year.  There is even a huge article on AD being the MVP on Yahoo right now.  I think there is enough people out there saying how the MVP has been a QB award that it may just sway voters the other way this season.  I hope AD gets it....he certainly deserves it. He is the best player in the game today!  No doubts!  He's a freaking freak!

Brad Johnson won a SB in 2003, 9 years ago.  And three years before that, Trent Dilfer won a SB.

Brad Johnson deserved his.....Dilfer road some serious coat tails to get his.  Brad Johnson may have been a game manager but he at least knew how to make a throw 20-30 yards down the field.

Dilfer still touches a nerve with me.  Listening to him on ESPN just drives me crazy.  He believes he's god's gift to NFL QB's.  Hey Dilf.....you were very Ponderesque throughout your career and latched onto one of the best NFL Defenses in history to win your ring.  COAT TAILS!!!!!

Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl in 2002, and it was 10 football seasons ago, and he wasn't a bad QB. So yeah, Trent Dilfer won a ring 13 years ago. But that's the exception that drives the point home, not disproves it.

My point wasn't so much that I wouldn't give Adrian Peterson the award, even the MVP. I'm saying when you start off with such an ambiguous and biased title as "most valuable", it's not surprising that players at the most valuable position get the award a ton.

There is a very convincing argument to be made that Peyton Manning is "more valuable" depending on what that means. He's taken guys that looked average at best, and made them look great, and to some that is very valuable. When the season is over, both teams might have made a 5 game improvement over last year. Guys like NoShaun Moreingo, Decker and Denarious Thomas look 100x better with Manning, than they have without him. Meanwhile, Peterson make guys around him look better isn't as easy to see. It should be making Ponder look good, but it's not, same with the receivers.

If you simply say "player of the year", you put it back on the individual and his performance. In that regard, Adrian Peterson wins going away. The season he is having at his position is one of the top 10 all time (probably end up being 1st or 2nd), while Manning is simply having a very good (but not great) year for a QB.

1) I predict the world will not end tomorrow

2) I predict there will be a HUGE earthquake on Sunday, the big one, (but NOT in California) it will be in Texas as AD gets to 263 yards with many Texas fans cheering him on.

3) I predict JJ Watt will get 3 sacks against the Vikes to get the NFL record in sacks. His 2nd sack will cause a massive earthquake, during which, on the next play, Peterson will do an 80 yard SLIDE into the endzone

4) The Texans will jump out to a 21-0 lead, but the Vikes will tie the game at 31 in the 4th quarter. Ponder will play his best game to date, and AD will get 263 yards, but the Vikes will come up short as Schaub hits Andre Johnson (who Cook had been shutting out most of the day), for the game winner, with about 1 minute and 23 seconds left on the clock.

Texans 38

Cook shuts down Johnson most of the game. Ponder has his best game. AD runs for 263....and you can't give us the win?!?!

Most good RBs out perform opposing teams' RBs when they are at home. I'm not saying Foster will get 264, but I think it's possible he gets about 201. Yes, this could be the 1st game in the history of the NFL where 2 RBs go over 200 yards. I'm assuming that probably hasn't happened before.

I don't like Watt matched up against Loadholt nor CJ, and he might even give Kalil some trouble. I expect Watt to get 3 sacks, and one of them a forced fumble that leads to a defensive TD. Remember, a defensive TD shoots a teams chances of winning the game to over 80%.

I think Owens Daniels is about due for a TD, and he and Garret Graham will each get a TD, or Daniels will get 2. And then the frustrated AJ, shut out most of the day, grabs the game winner late in the 4th quarter.

This game is perfect for us. Houston will pin their ears back and come. Today is about ball control, screen passes and a short accurate passing game.

Bend but don't break for our guys on defense also. No mistakes on special teams and send our kicker out for any long field goal and expect him to make it.

Texans won't be expecting our confidence. Ponder can shine in the rhythm game, AD is a beast, our Oline is oozing confidence and our defense plays big with the lead.

Packers might have the #2 seed regardless of next week's games, which would mean a less motivated team for the Vikings.

That's GREAT, it would have been even more impressive if you predicted the exact score.

No, I believe they have to win or either the Seahawks or 49ers can pass them up, if either of them, or both of them win next week.

Wow.
Thats even more startling, than picking the exact margin of victory.

The crazy thing is watching the game today he predicted the play call on the Ponder to Hamburger Helper hands (Rudolph) TD and even more freaky is he called the Arian Foster fumble on the very play it happened. The only prediction that didn't happen is a Chad Greenway pick he was harping for all game long. Nostradamus Sammy.

Oh, yes, I regularly post a score before games. Getting the score right would almost be almost as impressive as Sophia Vergara taking her bra off

9-7 miss playoffs

There is no way this team wins 9 games.  No way.

We will choke against Jax and Indianapolis.

Houston will beat us in Houston in December

And we will find a way to blow all our games against our division.

Sorry, if this team wins 5 games this year...I will be amazed.

Yep, Last season in Minnesota and they are going to be under .500.

And the funny thing is...I'm usually one of the optimists around here.

I've been waiting a long time for this post of glory! No disrespect meant to any of the responders. To see how I really feel about the nine wins (and maybe more!) just click the link and Will Ferrell will show you. NSFW

All I can say is this:  I am very glad I was wrong.

I heard a guy on the radio actually complain that we are just setting ourselves up for another epic fail either next week or in the playoffs.

I just started laughing.  Some people are just never happy.  The fact that we've tripled our win total from last year with a game to go yet and controlling our own destiny wrt playoffs is beyond amazing.  This improvement has been remarkable.  It is a testament to the front office and coaching staff that we've come this far this fast.
