Got my lock of the week. I'll take the Packers -10.

The over in Philly/Dallas (55) is starting to look very enticing. I could make a last-minute change. Will keep you posted.

I like that over quite a bit as well, it was in my top 5 choice.

I'm fine with any last minute changes you make, just try to do them before noon on Sunday.

I'm probably going to post my pick Sunday morning so I have a chance to see any last second injuries. I COULD post my pick on Saturday night if you like, but then would like the option of changing it Sunday morning, if something major happens, or if I have a major change of mind. But instead of posting a pick and changing my mind, it is my preference to make the pick on Sunday morning.

Good luck on your pick, whatever it ends up being. Hopefully we don't end up with the same pick, but if we do, it's just a tie for that week.

As it is right now (locks of the week):

You two jokers making picks and locks against eachother is about as interesting as a Les Frazier post game presser

Bill, how about instead of being cynical and commenting how boring it is, have some balls and join us in predicting locks of the week.

You'd only be starting out 1 behind with plenty of season left to catch Brad and myself.

The switch is in. I am taking the Jaguars +9 against San Diego. Completely going off the reservation.

In all honesty Brad, I think you're making a better choice. I even considered taking Cleveland, who's getting no respect. The Packers going conservative could keep Cleveland in the game, but I didn't trust going with Cleveland as all it takes is a little help from the officials, as they continue to allow the Packers to cheat the PI and holding rules on defense, a turnover or 2 from the Packers' defense, and they cover the 10 points.

Jags are hungry for a win, and they have that stud WR Blackmon playing, just don't know if they have enough other talent. What betting service are you getting your spreads from, again ? I looked at Vegas insider which lists 13 Vegas casinos along with Sportsbook.com, and all of their spreads for SD/JAX were either 7 or 7 1/2. I think the most you should have to give up is 7 1/2, so I'll give you another 1 1/2. Jags win by 8, and you're good to go. Good luck.

Any others going to join us with locks of the week, or is it just so much easier to stand on the sidelines and be cynical ?

My bad. For a second, I was thinking you were taking SD and GIVING 9 points, but you are GETTING with Jax. I was hoping we were just going to go with the spreads, which in this case would be 7 1/2.

They are giving 9 points there, but you have to pay 130 to win 100, that's what the -130 is all about.

That would explain why all the Vegas casinos I saw listed the game at 7 1/2, or 7. There you pay 110 to win 100. By getting the 9 points, you're paying an extra $20.

I thought since we are NOT putting money on this Brad, we would go with the true spreads. The true spread on SD/JAX is 7 or 7 1/2.

I think it's a reasonable pick with SD coming off a short week and traveling from W coast to E coast for a noon game. I'm putting a $100 on it.

Another game I really liked was Washington +1.5 against the Bears. Chicago is decimated by injuries on the defensive front and Morris should have a big day.

Negative. Going with the straight line, which is 9. Don't over-think things. This is just for fun. I have JVille +9. Not sure what you are looking at. I see JVille +9.

Brad, if you're paying more than $110 to win $100, it's not the true line.

The game you listed with Bovada:

BOVADA
SD: -9
JAC: +9 +115
-135

The +115 should be matched up with SD, if you're betting SD. It doesn't copy over this forum as it appears at the site. The +155 means: If you're willing to bet SD -9, instead of SD - 7 1/2, you win $115 instead of $100, on a $100 bet.

With Jacksonville, that is where the -135 comes in. In order to get Jax +9 (instead of Jax + 7 1/2), you sacrifice $135 to win $100, instead of $110 to win $100.

So to keep our locks of the week fair, you get 7 1/2 with Jax, NOT 9.

Sure, I'll take SD -9 at this point. Man, JVille is brutal. Only thing worse in that game was the officials. A total hatchet job by the stripes. Gates fumbled at the 3 and they didn't overturn it. Royal stepped out of bounds at the 3 and they ruled it a TD. No overturn.

You guys can't even string 2 weeks in a row in what would be in essence a less restrictive survival pool.

Feel free to join in Todd. You can make a pick with tomorrow nights' game, and possibly be tied for 1st place, provided I'm wrong on the over. And anyone else for that matter.

I made 21 consecutive picks last year in the survival pool. That was with restrictions you guys aren't tied too. This is too easy and not organized. We have a picks pool where you weigh your best lock @16 and a survival pool.

I have no problem with everyone or just you two playing around in this thread...everyone is free to comment or smack talk you if you put it out there though.
