 The UNC machine rolled this night.

As good as they are and as deep as they are, they could really fade if Lawson gets hurt again.

Yep.  It really seems like it's been that way for UNC for a decade or so.  They always seem to be lacking in PG depth.  They are really, really good though, it pains me to say.

I think they go as far as Lawson goes, and Duke goes as far as Zoubek/Thomas go.

 And so far I'm not impressed with their defense.  They allow a fairly high FG%.  I really think they are of the mindset that they will outscore you, therefore, their defense suffers.

Status: offline 		Ya, I agree with that as well.  They need to re-dedicate.  This is also a typical UNC problem over the years it seems.  (not to generalize too much)  They always are SUPREMELY talented.  If they just put the hard work in necessary (which is what all defense is; will power/hard work) then they should win.

Status: offline 		Definitely.  Pitt will be a very, very tough team come tournament time. 

Physicality is huge at that stage of the year, and they have it in bunches.

I was pretty impressed with the athleticism of Michigan today.  Quite a win over my Dukies. 

Duke really was not aggressive enough at all, and I would NOT like to be in Coach K's practices this weak re: defensing the backdoor.

 Gonzaga is much better when little is expected of them.  They went from being everybody's underdog to vastly overrated.

Damien James and Jordan Hill both had big games last night.  I'm curious how good both of these guys will be at the next level.  James biggest weakness IMO, is shot selection.  He really throws up some bad shots at times.  He's a little small for the next level but he really can do everything, including playing great defense.  The shot selection problem is correctable.

Jordan Hill really has improved.  He really came on at the end of last season and has continued to improve.  One of the quickest big men in the country.

Seth Curry (Stephen's little brother) is really a good basketball player and probably a better shooter than Stephen.

More on Stephen:  People projecting him to be a early pick are crazy.  He's not ever going to be an impact player in the NBA.  Speed and strength will be a problem.  He's been struggling lately because everybody is ready for him.  Over his last 5 games he's shooting 27% behind the arc. 
And that hasn't slowed down his attempts.  Over that period he attempted 11 3's per game.

 Great time of year.  Conference season starting, NFL playoffs, NBA rolling, Yankees buying MLB and the Holidays!

Haven't been this excited about Gopher BB in quite a while.  Tough first game next week vs. MSU.

The Big East has a great match up almost every night.

The Oklahoma/Texas battles will be as exciting as the football match up.

I would never predict a team going undefeated, but man, UNC (providing Lawson stays healthy) has a great shot.

I think it'll be tough for UNC, as good as they are, to go undefeated, Pete.  Once you get into the ACC schedule, even in a down year, it's REALLY hard.

Agreed on the Gophers too.  It's great to see.  And the Big10 is takeable.

 I know almost everybody hates Huggins, but man, that guy can coach.  He could take 10 guys off the street (which is basically what he did at Cincinnati) with three days of practice, and turn them into a very good team.

Agreed.  I don't like him for his lack of control/graduation rate, etc., but he's a heck of a coach.

 The lack of quality bench play caught up with Oklahoma last night. 

Three great freshman guards in that game that played fantastic. 
Willie Warren is the real deal.  Great inside out combo with him and Griffen but they just aren't deep enough, IMO.

Clarke and Fortson play really well together and are only going to get better.  Arkansas is pretty small but they're going to be very good next season.  They don't have any seniors on the roster and just a couple of juniors.  Pelphrey turned out to be a good hire I think.

 Rutgers really giving Pitt a good game.  Young is starting to take charge though.  Pitt should squeak it out.

 Great Big East game tomorrow, even before the NFL playoffs start.  Pitt at Georgetown.  Georgetown could really lay early claim to being the best in the conference with victories against UConn and Pitt in the same week.  I don't see it happening though.  Pitt by 9.

Georgetown did expose UConn's biggest weakness though, lack of perimeter offense.  They played almost entirely zone defense, daring UConn to shoot from the perimeter.  Adrien was neutralized and Thabeet was invisible.
