Status: offline 		Vandy's going to have their hands full with Anderson, but I do think they'll advance.  Vs. Louisville, that's another story.  But if Jenkins gets hot, I could see it being a game.

Ya, I just see Pitino's gameplan being to shut him down; good defense can beat him.

I think Taylor has to have fire if they want to do anything in the tournament. His talent/athleticism is amongst the best in the country; his "will"/consistency, not so much. Ezeli needs to play big too.

Ezeli is such a poor defensive rebounder for his size, but Louisville isn't exactly a good rebounding team.  I still think the key for Vandy is that they must get exceptional play from their backcourt, and Tinsley is somewhat limited as it is, and Siva is really a good defender.

But I guess I better wait to see if they get past the Spiders.

Tinsley is about as bad as Nolen; a team like Vandy deserves better at PG (and they'll get it next year, with 2 good guards coming in to join Jenkins). I see him getting eaten up by Louisville. And Jenkins isn't a great ballhandler himself.

I agree on Ezeli, but hhe really has been improved as heck this year. Hands down the most improved player in the country to me. He spent a TON of work this summer (he was always at the gym over there).

I don't know if Ezeli is the most improved in the entire country, but he really has improved.  I didn't even recognize him early in the season when they played UNC.  Much better footwork.

I'm not big on Tinsley, but I'd take him in a heartbeat over Nolen.

Ya, the footwork difference is crazy, and he has a couple of offensive moves now too. His body is ridiculous. Always had an NBA body, and I'm sure he'll have a place in the league as a backup banger now that he's improved to this point.

Status: offline 		That one makes less sense to me (unless these NCAA allegations are worse than they appear). He has one of the best recruiting classes in the country coming in; wouldn't doubt if they break up now.

Status: offline 		Wow, sure sounds like Irving's going to play on Friday, Pete.

Thoughts on his use/the transition?

I'd try to play him something like 20 minutes against Hampton, four or 5 4-5 minutes bursts. Then maybe back him off a bit depending on the game situation on Sunday. And then, if they win, there's another 4-5 days of progress that can be made in practice to get him ready to be fully integrated.

And I think the transition would be smooth. He immediately improves the defense if he's at close to full strength, because then you go from 2 lockdown defenders to 3. And I think his biggest impact, immediately, is on the Plumlee brothers down low. He immediately makes them better because of his penetration ability. Plus of course the bench gets a huge shot in the arm.

I'm trying to contain my excitement, but man I'm pumped. We have no idea where he's at right now, but Duke would be the HEAVY favorites IMO with him. And might not have lost a game this year with him either IMO.

As an unabashed "UT hater" I couldn't be happier. Though I do have a bit of respect for them actually firing him (Hamilton will be next and Fulmer will be the new AD I'd bet). That program is in trouble. Tobias Harris will almost certainly go pro now, Hopson might (and fail), and their recruiting class isn't all that good, and that's even if both kids stay without Pearl, which isn't likely.

Going to be interesting to see what they do next. They'll want to hire a great coach and pay him a lot to keep the energy/attendance up, but I'm not sure why a top coach would come there: 1) to follow Bruce and his success there; UT fans LOVE him, and 2) with the cloud of the NCAA ruling still to come in June. They could still get a couple of years of probation/sanctions.

I can see why they want him and why he would want to go back, but they need to stop letting them leave right after accepting a new contract for at least a year. It is unfair to the schools and the kids who counted on their coach staying

If he can hold on to the recruiting classes that Pelphrey built, he should be very successful.

And Chuck Barkley NAILED the Arizona-Duke outcome, called it to a tee early last night ... about Arizona wearing them out eventually and beating them down.

Sorry to Dustin and Pete, know losing is not normal for Duke.
Just got out-everything that second half. Very few teams could have stopped that steamroller. Scary.

And as usual, no surprise ... Coach K and his players handled it with class.
And you know they'll return even better. Great program.
It ain't easy when everyone is shooting for you every night. Its the Celtic/Laker/Yankee/RedSox life.
You get everyone's best game.

Just the 3. He supposedly 'might' be the best of the 3. All 3 around 7-feet. Their dad was a star at Tennessee Tech.

Some talk of Mason going pro now (hope not) to open up more playing time for Marshall (freshman) and Miles (senior). Mason's a junior next year.

Status: offline 		Didn't see much of the NIT, but I've seen him a few times. He's got all the skills, except shooting. Which can be improved. A bit of a gamble, but pretty clearly the best 2g in a weak 2g class IMO.

Status: offline 		No talk of the Final Four?  Everybody's bracket has been busted?  Favorite team eliminated?

This is beautiful basketball.  The early heavy talkers now have become silent.  There's no shame in not accurately predicting the outcome of this single elimination tournament.  Duke, Kansas, and UNC fade, so does the discussion?  Too bad.

In the eye of the experts, UConn should be more of a surprise than Butler.  UConn is an early 3.5 fav. 

Walker was D'd up all night by Kentucky, but he still impacted the game.  I haven't seen Walker defended that well all season.  He really is a great college bb player.  Knows his game, does what he has to do, great leader, and contrary to early/popular opinion, he doesn't need to launch 25 shots a game.  No offense to Jimmer, but I take Walker for my college team every single time.

The championship:  I'm a bit biased, but I give myself a pat on the back for admitting it.  Mack and/or Nored can't contain Walker like UK did.  And Howard for some reason always gets to the line.  Oriakhi has to take it to him on the offensive side.  I can see UConn having trouble inside.  Howard is a very clever (some say dirty) player.  Have you seen his pics on the perimeter?  Plenty of leg fouls, but I have to give him credit, that's knowing the game.

After Walker, Lamb is the key in my opinion.  He didn't have a great game tonight.  He looked like a freshman for the first time since mid February.  Butler has a match up problem with Walker and Lamb.  If Oriakhi performs, I think UConn rolls.  Shit, I forgot, Butler never goes away.  They're tough and good defenders.  I'm lookin forward to a great game.

He had a good tournament. After Irving and possibly Barnes I like him better than anyone else for the Wolves. Would be pretty satisfied if he's our pick. Needs to improve his outside shootng but he is extremely athletic, a top scorer, can play defense, and a good ft shooter. I've seen a lot of him in the Big 12 and I like him.
