Yaaay! A great day in sports so far. Hawks are up 4-0, and Hossa gets his 500th goal! And, the cherry on top of the sundae, the awful, awful cubs are down 3-0 in the 6th. What a great night!!!

Well, I think I got too full of myself. The Hawks are now tied 4-4. At least the cubs are still losing, so all is not lost.

And then you score the next three
Never a worry, when you gave real NHL scorers on board
You're a lucky man joe. Legit stars always waiting to take over there.

The thing that sticks out to me the most so far is the performance of the rookies. Not Lights out, but very solid play from all 4 of them. And Panik has been a big surprise, as well.

Crazy night in Winnipeg
Leafs jump out early, Jets all over them late.
The first showdown between Laine and Matthews was a classic.
Laine with the hatty and the first knockdown in a personal battle that will probably rage over the next decade.
Fun stuff.

Fun Wings/Rangers game,
Vanek is a scorer. Not going to whine about losing him, but he doesn't deserve the hate some developed for him.
He's definitely helping the Wings so far.
The goaltending in that game tonight looked like a different game from what we play.
Our goalies would have allowed 12 goals to the Rangers in that onslaught. Jimmy Howard gave up ONE. King Henrik was just about as good.
Really jealous of teams with reliable, everynight, solid goaltending.

Are the Jets your #2 team? They were my #3 team after the North Stars and Whalers when I was a kid. Most of the Jets games were on our cable TV, even when we only had like 13 channels.

Hey Matt
Welcome to the NHL thread.
Sorry, kind of a Jet hater.
Could become a great rivalry here, certainly not yet.
They are like the Royales to me. At one time, when they sucked, were my feel-good team. Now, they seem cocky and entitled.
You've probably figured out my other sports top 5s
In the NHL I go
Wild
Kings. (The SF Giants of hockey)
Sharks (wild, hairy, and mean)
Caps (pull for Ovie to shit people up, esp Cindy)
Ning (like their coach, Stamkos, and Hedman)

Not sure I've ever seen the league so even.
You cannot sleep on anyone, no matter who you are.
Every team is tough to beat, from what I've seen so far.
And the ones struggling, will be damn good at some point.

Lots of young talent coming into the league and playing at a very high level. Some really fast and fun hockey to watch these days. The Central division is going to be a battle for every point.

I know everyone's trying hard to not give it any attention ... but Vanek looks renewed and is fitting in well in Detroit.

I have a feeling it was a personality thing between Vanek and Yeo even though nothing has ever been said.
