I forget who it was but that 4th liner for the Wings set the tone early by dropping them.  Basically, Det said "we aint taking your shit".  I loved that move.  The one thing that can derail Det is Osgood.  He's a terrible keeper IMO.

Malkin shows off his Gaborik style backchecking and Was ties it up.  The bitch scored a nice goal for Pitt earlier on.

Whew!
The Caps hold serve.
Looking forward to the battle tonight.
Hoping the young Hawks can steal one up north.
Pretty typical today, you got Malkin, you got Ovie, you got Crosby .... and Tom Fleischmann scores the biggest goal.
Thats playoff hockey.

Tough night so far as the hacks from up north (and a ways to the west) are whooping ass.  Damn, I hate the Nucks more than any team

Never fear, JJ ...... We got 'em eventually!!!!
Awesome freaking game byt the young Hawks.
To go down early 2-0, then score 5 unanswered on Luongo.... nothing short of miraculous.
When it was 2-0, and Eager doesn't bury it in an open net, I honestly felt so sorry for Chicago.
It felt like they might never score again. 5 minutes later, its 3-2. Love that about the game.
And in typical punk-ass fashion, ,those bastard Canucks went out like the pussies they are, punching with gloves and visors on, intending to injure, you-name-it.
And of course the typical suspects ... Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa, its always the same little weasels. Cocking off when they score and win, bawling and cheap-shotting when they lose. Chicago has done a nice job of ignoring them. The best part was finally getting a group of officials with the balls to put them in the box. All the penalties in the third were called correctly, it kept Vancouver down because they weren't getting away with their usual crap.
This will end up being one heck of a series, interesting contrast of styles.
Sure like Quenvilles attitude, he has them believing they can accomplish great things.
The Wings/Ducks should be great today.

Incredible game in Detroit. 3 OTs.
Detroit by far the better cahnces for 2/3 of the game, but a hot goalie wins games.
Jeff nailed it, Osgood is a weakness right now. 59 saves for Hiller, many spectacular.
Detroit is just so damn fluid, they create offense out of nothing. Against a great defense in the Ducks.
That's gonna be one heck of a series.

What a game lastnight.  Caps take the 2nd over the Pens.  OV8 and the bitch both get hat tricks

I swear, I would give up 5 #1's to get OV8.  he's that dominant.  He plays like Messier on crack.

You're killing me, Jesser, you're killing me!
Good stuff.
That Pen/Caps series is special.
How often do you match the games two biggest stars and they both come thru?
Carried both teams.
Agree 100% on Ovie ... the best thing to happen to the NHL in a long time.
Old jackasses in the game are afraid of him, too much change too soon.
The great ones, well, like THE GREAT ONE, love him. He is a game-changing personality.
Geeked about the two Western Conf games, they should be Battles.

Unreal.
The Red Wings (I thought) were the the NHLs premier franchise.
They got treated last night like trash, imo.
They were raped on call after call.
I had flashbacks to the Wilds experiences in that building during the game.
The management that runs the Ducks must be the most imtimidating in the league.
Weird things happen there. I've always thought refereeing there is more one-sided than anywhere else.
I'm glad the rest of the league is finding out what we already knew.
Just some horrible calls that swung the game and ultimately won it for the Ducks.

And I'm usually the biggest Red Wing-hater, so I'm not using bias here.
They have turned a corner with me, tho.
I RESPECT what they do.
The Ducks and Canuck franchises, however, are #1 and #2 on my hit list. Jackasses from top to bottom.
Each club has one or two good people, but they are surrounded by cheap-shots and crybabies, imo.

Yeap, I hate both of those 2 franchises with a passion.  #1 will always be Dallas but those 2 are 2a and 2b.

I am indifferent with Detroit but i'm just sick of them.  They are your Detroit to my Chicago.  I'm really starting to appreciate that franchise and I've never liked them.  It goes back to Savard for me.  He was my nemesis as a wee lad.   I'm really digging the Caps too.  Living there for 8 years made me hate thier fans but OV8 just sucks me in to watching them.

Canes get 'er done.
Pens win, dammit.
Never dreamed Carolina would win 2 games this series.
Boston was absolutely rollin' people.
THAT my friends, is the difference great coaching can make.
That is a guy gameplanning his team back into contention.
Boston isn't making the adjustment to this point.

Cool.  You watched the Caps game.  Did you get a good look at their first goal?  It sure looked to me that Guerrin was standing in the crease on that shot from the point.   They showed multiple angles on it but never mentioned that (don't want to upset Sid ).

One thing the Caps need to do to win this thing is jump on them early.  Pitt was giving up a ton of odd man breaks but they couldn't get anything out of it.

The laugher of the night for me was a reoccurring deja vu.   "Dupius with the shot and it's wide of the net"

Ain't that the truth ... Pascal is still "just so close" to getting things done.
Tools galore, no finish, hasn't changed.
The in-the-crease rule is a joke, isn't it?
Ever since the Brett Hull debacle, they've turtled about the call.
No definite answers, and now, they don't even check on it.
Its like some of the NFL and NBA rules, they add in things like "if you are pushed" blahblahblah, so that the ref can be bailed out.
Several teams this playoff season are taking deliberate runs thru the crease.
Something needs to be addressed, or we are going to have some horrible incidents.
Nothing incites a riot more than a goalie being taken out on purpose.

Good point about the Hull rule.  I was furious for days after that series and I didn't have a dog in the fight.  Guerrin's was bad last night because he was in the crease (by the looks of it) and it was he who had the total screen on.  It wasn't so bad because, if he was in, it was barely.  I've just seen that call go the other way alot and wondered if you guys saw it too.   Not a big deal.  Just curiosity.

Man, the PITT franchise really loves Crosby too.  Last night, in the first, they played a musical montage in his honor.  RJD, Holy Diver.

"Holy Diver"

Nice ... the Hawks are back in the series, had to win that one tonight.
2-1 in OT.
Pretty smothering all game. Very few shots.
Quenville is a very good coach for that kind of young team. Guess I've already said that a time or two.
Its impressive what they are doing.
Wings and Ducks tied early.
Wings almost gotta have this one.

Canes are gonna be my first big screw-up in predictions.
Had no idea they could do this to Boston.
The Boston bench is in shambles, they have no answers right now.
They are in more shock than the fans.
Maurice has masterfully taken over that series, much like Babcock does for the Wings.
What great quarters these are, we were close to having 4 series tied at 2.
Going to be an awesome week. I look for every home team to win from here out.
Emotion is starting to be the biggest factor. The crowd had Carolina geeked last night, no way they were losing.

Then again, maybe every AWAY team will win from here out.
Super effort by the hawks to win in Vancouver. Byfuglien is starting to emerge as a FORCE.
Not happy the Pens are winning.  Bad luck on the game-winner.
