Status: offline 		Sad thing is Iowa had 1 more win then Gophers and Nebraska had less and both ranked and Minn not. Statement was made last night.

Wagner got the team off on the right track that opened up the paint for Amanda.

Status: offline 		Reusse raised a couple of interesting points during the interview. The first was that a minimum 39/29 has not happened in the NBA since Moses Malone scored 44/29 in 1979. The other is that it has been done 99 times in NBA history with 87 of them by Wilt Chamberlain.

MINNEAPOLIS -Three Gophers scored 20 or more points for just the fifth time in program history as the University of Minnesota (22-6, 11-5) women's basketball team topped Michigan (15-12, 7-9), 91-88, in double overtime Saturday afternoon to pick up its 22nd win of the season at Williams Arena for Senior Day.

In two wins this week over No. 13/11 Iowa and Michigan, Zahui totaled 66 points, 56 rebounds and nine blocks to extend the Gophers' Big Ten winning streak to five games for the first time in nine years.

Along with Zahui, senior Shae Kelley, who was honored with fellow senior Kayla Hirt for Senior Day, added her 11th double-double of the season with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Carlie Wagner tallied 21 points and six assists for the home team. Shayne Mullaney was one assist short of her second-career double-double, as she had 11 points and nine assists and Mikayla Bailey notched nine points and five rebounds in the win.

Status: offline 		This team has a lot of fight in it, but they really need to clean up the TO's before the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments. Michigan isn't that good, but teams that play pressure defense create a lot problems for the Gophers. They were also just plain careless and sloppy with the ball today. This was a game they really should have won by double digits in regulation. Their team totals were 21 assists and 24 turn overs. Michigan plays a relentless pressure defense, but lot of those TO were unforced. The competition is going to get a little tougher in the last couple of games and then the tournament.

Zahui's back to back games will no doubt get her Big Ten player of the week. It may even get here second national player of the week.

Status: offline 		4 Teams at 11-5 now....It is tough as we lost to Northwestern by 21 and Rutgers by 5 and beat Ohio State...may need to win out to be top 4...

Iowa 12-4 Wisc & MN

Northwestern 11-5 has Maryland & Rutgers left
MN 11-5 Iowa and Nebraska
Rutgers 11-5 Northwestern & Indiana
Ohio State 11-5 Penn State & Nebraska


Ohio State prob has the easiest schedule....

Status: offline 		It's going to be a tough finish for the Gophers. Two teams on the road that are either ranked or previously ranked and both looking for payback against the Gophers.

I can't emphasize enough that they really need to keep the TO's to a minimum.

Amanda Zahui B is having a pretty good couple of days. On Monday she was named the ESPN W National Player of the Week for the second time this season. On Tuesday she was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, and was also one of five players added to the Wade Watch List. The Wade Trophy Coalition presents The Wade Trophy to the nation’s most outstanding NCAA® Division I women’s basketball player each year – one who not only excels athletically, but also serves as a positive role model both on and off the court. The wade Watch list consists of the 25 player preseason list (including injured Gopher guard Rachael Banham) and the five additions. The list will be cut to 12 finalists in Mid-March, and the winner will be announced at the Women's Final Four in April.

Zahui B is getting rewarded for her amazing performance last week where she had 39 points and 29 rebounds in a win over #13 Iowa, and then followed that up with 27 points and 27 rebounds in a double overtime win over Michigan. She also added nine blocked shots in the two games, breaking her Gopher single-season record of 105 set last season. She currently has 109 on the year, with two regular season games and the postseason to go.

Zahui B and the Gophers will finish the regular season with two tough road games against ranked opponents when they travel to #23 Nebraska on Tuesday night before finishing at #16 Iowa who will most definitely be out for revenge for what Zahui B did to them last week. The two games will be key for seeding purposes in the Big Ten Tournament which will take place March 5-8 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The Gophers are currently in a four way tie for third place in the Big Ten at 11-5 with Northwestern, Rutgers, and Ohio State. The Gophers could end up seeded anywhere from second to sixth depending o the results of this week's games.

Status: offline 		Gophers are within 5 of Iowa at the half. This once again looks like a game where they could be in control if they could quit turning the ball over. This is where they miss Banham the most.

Status: offline 		Caught the end of the game against Purdue last night. It was a struggle, but they pulled it out thanks to excellent free throw shooting. Those ladies have ice in their veins. I've never seen a mens or women's team in my lifetime that i've had such ft confidence in. They hit 12 in a row down the stretch. That one girl is money at the line, around 90 percent. But there was another girl around 65 percent that also hit 4 huge ones in a row. I guess what I'm saying is it was refreshing to see a team hit their free throws down the stretch. That's the way it should be.

Status: offline 		MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — University of Minnesota sophomore Amanda Zahui B. was named a First-Team All-America selection Friday by ESPNW contributors.

She’s the fifth player in Gopher women’s basketball history to earn the honor and first since Janelle McCarville in 2005. The others were Lindsay Whalen, Carol Ann Shudlick and Laura Coenen.

Zahui is also a finalist for the Wooden Award and a semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy. She was the media’s choice for Big Ten Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Big Ten honors. She averaged 18.8 points, 12.6 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game this season to become one of the top centers in the nation.

During the Big Ten Tournament, she averaged 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks per game over two games. As just a sophomore, she’s already Minnesota’s career blocks leader with 239.

Minnesota (23-9, 11-7) will learn its seed for the NCAA Tournament on Monday.

Status: offline 		Pretty hard to get that when you finish outside the top 4 n the conference and only win one game in the conference tournament. Losing 3 out of the last 4 didn't help either.

Status: offline 		It will really come down to guard play. Zahui B. and Kelley are as good an inside combination as there is in the country. If Wagner and Mullaney can hit for a solid percentage from outside and keep the turnovers down, they have a real chance to win a couple of games.
