Yep. Virginia's not "terrible" but that's a bad loss.

Will this state, ever again, have a team that simply puts it all together and steamrolls people it should steamroll?

I'll answer that.
Probably not.

Need to bounce back next game and get another streak going.

Extremely sloppy last 10 minutes or so for the Gophers. Too many forced shots, not enough ball movement, not enough usage of a major frontcourt advantage.

Gotta clean it up to pull this game out.

Doesn't hurt, of course, that UVA can't miss.

From What I Saw

Joseph got too much into 1-1 ball in the 2nd half, and the offense stalled.

HORRIBLE perimeter defense. Kudos to VA for shooting well, but way too many easy looks.

And terrible FTs, missing front ends of 1 and 1s.

Who are the best defenders on this Gopher basketball team? Nolen and who else?

I believe that the team missed Nolen on the defensive side of the court.

This was called a foul (happened right in front of me) on Mbakwe:

Just a crappy night all-around.

Tubby's Gophers just can't stand to be ranked. Every time they have cracked the top 25 they have lost their next game.

I hear ya panndder, but it goes both ways. I mentioned last night; Mbakwe absolutely should have been called for the offensive goaltend towards the end of the game too.

Refs didn't cost them this game. Sloppy play for the last few minutes of the first half and all of the 2nd half on both ends did.

Sloppy shooting plus everything UVA threw up was a good 3 it seemed.

Dustin bet you can't wait for the Mich St/Duke match up Wed

Definitely, but as Ed notes, the close-out defense wasn't so good either. So that factored in to the shooting.

As for Duke/MSU, indeed. Should be fun. I wouldn't be shocked with a MSU win, though that would be mighty impressive at Duke and to break their non-conference home winning streak. But regardless of what happens, I think Duke's still the best team.

Should be a fun game though. Might end up deciding the ACC/Big10 challenge too.

Sure they made a lot of open shots from outside the line, but Farakan made some with a hand in his face also. Good shooter

I was not trying to suggest that the refs cost them the game. It was just an aligning of the stars that led to the loss.

Saw a bit of the Northwestern game last night and the way they were throwing up the 3's, they could give the Gophers and rest of big 10 problems

18 made 3s against us in the past 1.5 games.

Maybe we should guard the perimeter?

Yep. It's been awful.

Another very sloppy game so far.

Certainly not.

The only thing that is winning this game for the Gophers so far is athleticism.

That's not a good thing against CORNELL at home.

Yep. That's about all you can say.

Pulled it out late.

Yes, they miss Nolen. But that's not a good enough excuse IMO. Have to play a lot better than that when conference play rolls around.

Yup, I'm not even .1% as savy at BB as you guys and I watched it knowing that was terrible perimeter D and FT shooting

The reason they had so many 3's is they couldn't get the ball in closer. Some were made with hands in the face and others 4-6 ft beyond the arc. I didn't care seeing them going in, but I would rather see them launch lower percentage shots then the ones in the paint

Now on the FT, they have to get better at that if they want to win in the Big 10. Last nights game would have been a blowout if they made 85% of them
