I've wanted Lucia gone for years. Granted he won back to back NCAA's in 2002/2003, but it has been all dysfunction and under-achievement since.

Notre Dame is joining Big 10 hockey.

7 teams would be a weird number. They will probably try to add another one, huh? Could the mighty dollar lure Miami-Ohio?

I hear Pittsburgh Plumbing Polytechnic has a damn good club team that we could allow in as well.

Interesting..... Now this will probably send ripple waves through the other leagues as well. You're right, I doubt they'll stop at 7 and they'll want to add another member. Are there any other schools in the B1G (like Penn St) that are changing from club to D1?

It sounds like Arizona State is their target, and they will probably get them.

The rivalry thing is going to be impossible to build.

Starting to understand more of what our problem was.

EVERY conference is after Arizona State. They are the hottest free agent in college hockey history. The NCHC is desperate to add them. The Big 10 is probably more desperate. I expect Arizona State will choose the Big 10 because of the TV deal and the fact their school size is in line with Big 10 schools - not NCHC or WCHA schools. The only hang-up I think Arizona State will have is if the Pac 12 can disallow them from joining the Big 10 hockey conference.

Overall you can see what the Big 10 is trying to do. They are only taking Big DI (football) schools and trying to spread their presence over the entire country. Who knows? Maybe in 20 years they will look like geniuses and all the hockey kids will want to go to the biggest schools.

That's more impressive than Gopher football. They are in the 53rd year of there 88 year rebuilding program.
