If it doesn't shape up, the U is gonna really feel it in recruiting soon. I'm sure UND, St. Cloud, etc. are telling recruits "no way you want to play Big 10 hockey. Play for us and you'll have an energized fanbase and play one of the best conference schedules in the country." The Big 10 schools will TRY to convince recruits that being seen on the Big 10 Network will be huge for them. Problem is, it's not huge. It's terrible. You never know when the games are on, and most of them aren't on TV anyway. If it keeps going down the road it's going, I don't see the U being a very good hockey program at all 5 years from now. They'll probably still be fine compared to other Big 10 schools, but I think pretty much every NCHC team and maybe a couple WCHA teams will pass them by as truer hockey destination schools.
