ORIGINAL: Lynn G. Just bumping this up because I'd love to hear Jim's response. I'm still relatively new to the college football end of things so I want to hear both sides of this. quote:

ORIGINAL: Jim Frenette Is the Grey experient over with? Heck no. Honest to God Jim what is your osession with hating this kid. He was one of the most heavily recruited players in the country, has maintained a great attitutde despite getting jerked around in the clusterf***know as the Brewster era, was one of the few players who was in incredible physical condition for his first meeting with the new coach, has accepted the role of leader on every level from making sure guys are showing for conditioning to guys learning the playbook, to guys going to class to guys showing up for community service committments. He takes over a new system under new coaches with several new players on the road against a top opponent. He gets them through the initial uncertainty and by the 3rd Q has them moving, leads them to their first 10 points before getting injured. Shortell takes over an offense that has already found some rhythm, leads them to a TD and then throws an interception in the final minute and you are ready to annoint him as the starter. What exactly is it about Gray that offends you so? I won't speak for Fargo as I think Gray should be the starting QB at this time. But, NOT being new to college football, I'll chime in with a few cents related to this post. First, similar kinds of things could have been said about 3 time captain Adam Weber, who seems to be hated by most on this board. Also, Brewster gets slammed here all the time, and rightfully so for the most part. But lets also get a few facts straight: - Brewster was the guy who got Gray to come to Minnesota. He got Gray over many other colleges and big name coaches (included Kill). That seems to get lost. - It wasn't Brewsters fault that Gray had to grayshirt (meaning he didn't play football for a year). - Gray was the #2 QB from the day he stepped onto campus (I believe). Again, under Brewster. Now this year he's the #1 guy as a Junior. What's wrong with this? - If Brewster doesn't use him at WR, he's riding the bench. Maybe he gets more reps at QB, but not nearly the snaps he saw as a starting WR. - By all accounts, Gray has an NFL body and the talent. The question is whether his best shot is at QB or WR. If it's at QB, then he has 2 starting years to prove it. If it's at WR, then WTF??? At least he's played there.....and that was Brewster.
