Normally I would say this is a bad omen for the conference season, but we honestly could still have a winning conference record this year. I used to think analysts overstated the weakness of the Big 10, but it is an absolute joke right now.

NDSU beat Iowa State
Iowa State is 0-2
And tied late, with Iowa ... who is at home.

The Big Tens a killer.
The Big Tens a mess.

No kidding
Hard to come back, when your open-it-up offense is a 2 yard QB dive play
Pathetic.

We aren't enough of a defensive juggernaut, to think this conservative crap is gonna win us any big games.....

Exactly. Our game plan was ass backwards today. We should have:

Came out and tried to establish a power running game.

What we did:

Came out on the hopes of Leidner's arm. Got down big early and then tried to establish a power running game when we needed to OPEN IT UP.

Was this Kill's offense at his last gig? I didn't watch them but I "thought" they were much more wide open.

Big Ten is 1-10 vs big school non-cons so far.

I sure thought so too.
Almost a run-and-shoot thing?
Maybe I was dreaming.

It was more wide open at NIU. However, having a QB who can make an accurate pass more than 3 yards downfield is helpful in opening up the offense. Not saying that's anyone's fault other than himself though.

Exactly. I've been wondering that since day 1 but thought maybe was a personnel thing. Not after 3 years...

For a team that wants to be a power rushing team, Cobb sure got stonewalled at the LOS a lot today. Absolutely no running room. Either the line was that bad, or they were telegraphing the holes

Some thought Gray was a bad QB. Leidner is the worst starting Gopher QB in my lifetime. Inexcusable recruiting mistake to go into a season with him as your #1.

Horrible.
There were 4 year backup QBs all over the country yesterday making huge plays.
The Neuheisel events in UCLA were so much fun.
That kid is a freaking CLONE of his Dad. Its like they turned the clock back.
But I digress.
Go find a competent kid to QB your offense, or any improvements the rest of your team have made ... wont matter.

Yup. You can be solid on D and in the running game, but unless you have a competent QB you have no margin for error. Leidner was terrible yesterday, and just a shade better than terrible in the first two games.

I thought we would lose yesterday, but be competitive. That was a "name the score" game. Good thing Kill and Patterson are buddies or that could have been a 55-7 game. We just athletically are nowhere close to them; like watching HS vs college. Good news is when we get to the Big 10, all the teams have second rate athletes so we won't seem so overmatched.
