I don't mind the babble from a coach as much when he actually backs it up with action. This guy is Wacker, with wins. I like Souhans points on taking a lower salary to ensure getting better assistants, and on his chip-on-the-shoulder attitude. I like that and pointed it out during the Illini win. Early in the second half, it was typical Big-10 reffing, the crew that day was going to "get things right" by suddenly "helping" the favored team get back in charge of the game. If you don't think that happens in college football, you don't watch college football. Anyway, when that crew started to turn momentum against the Gophers, our new coach did exactly what our old coaches would not do .... He made a scene, he made sure the refs knew he was not going to stand still for being "jobbed". The sideline mics caught quite a bit of it, as he let them have it. It was refreshing. He simply stood up for his team and would not allow them to be pushed around or abused. It sure appeared to work, imo. There will be plenty more of those days ahead, and he sure gives the impression that he'll be there fighting for his team every step of the way. Agreed. He's the anti-Mason. He use to just sit there with a look of "I smell a bad fart". That use to piss me off royally.
