I'm actually very surprised the Badgers are not running plays here to score.

This downhill slide started when Brewster grabbed his skirt and went into the lockerrom instead of getting into scoring position at the end of the first half.  That was gutless and just plain stupid considering how the game was playing out at that time.   In a game like this you ride the momentum as far as it will take you since you know it's going to change at some point.  You need to get as large of a lead as you can to prepare for this inevitable change.

Jake you hit the nail on the head. The Gophers had the momentum and needed to keep it up especially knowing you would be kicking to start the second half. Maybe Brewster felt sorry for the kid that left the game so he backed down.

You guys had more fortitude than I did.   I turned the channel after the (first) safety in the fourth quarter.   I just knew we'd figure out a way to give the Badgers this game.

Crap.

Fargo,
Exactly.  It was like Brewster's never seen this type of a rivalry game before.   If you think you're going to dominate a well-coached rival the entire game you're completely ignorant.  The fact is that we had the momentum in the first half with the ball near mid-field and basically took a De-knee like we were deep in our own territory!  Bielema even gave him an extra opprtunity to get into scoring position by calling that TO and Brewster decided to tuck his tail between his legs and walk off the field content.  I know it sounds trite to make this claim now but I swear that I honestly said  to a buddy at that exact moment that WI will come back and win this game.  It was just too clear to me, unfortunately.    Is it the MN-nice factor that we refuse to kick someone while they're down??!  I will never understand why we don't forcefully impose our victory over our opponent, professionally or collegiately.

Been ranting on that for years, Jake.

It's a horrible, horrible, rut that Minnesota has been stuck in for a long time.

Why is it that you know the worst is coming?

What is Brewster thinking running out the clock at the end of the half with all that momentum, I understood the first running plays, but after getting past the thirty with time outs, try and put up a FG, total loss of momentum.

All this hype about Brewster, well in the last three, he is brutal.  Overtime secured and he throws the ball into the middle of the field, WHY?, Michigan is having their worst season in history, yet the Gophers made them look like a top ten in their building, and for the tri facta a complete collapse in Wisconsin, 3 turnovers inside the twenty...nice gift.

All of our teams play like we are protecting something.
That is probably the biggest thing that bothers me.
Tell me, exactly what are we protecting?

Even in the Michigan game it wasn't out of site in the 4th qtr. Brewster need to show some urgency and have them play a no huddle offense and try and get back into it.

I turned it off after the first half.

What at lousy day for the local teams.

Doesn't that mean the Vikings will win tomorrow?   Kind of a payback?

Agreed.

But they won't stop the moneymaker as long as alumni of universities will come, and they will.

Personally, I have absolutely no desire to watch my team in an inferior bowl.  My expectations are higher.  Heck, I barely have cared about the Rose Bowl for Michigan/Minnesota if it's not the national title game.
