Nah, it's pretty obvious. Even if we "win". This team is a typical Gopher team. Win a few, lose against good teams……'may' get a shitty bowl game. That's the ceiling. Fleck is totally confused why his "better athletes" aren't dominating. He has no answer. It is what it is.

And there it is.....a fumbled exchange in their half of the field. If we don't get points here the game is over.

Cute, eerily similar to the Philly SB play.

When Tanner moved out of the QB position I was about 99% confident we were going to pass it to him. With it being that obvious you would think he would have been defended.

I thought this was the year they finally going to play a good opening game. Just another blech, hanging on to win against an inferior opponent opener.

We may be 1-0 but make no mistake. Both teams are 0-1. They both lost. It took a pick 6, a return TD taken off the board for a questionable call (could have gone either way) and a deep fumble that negated points for the home team to win. Hardly impressive no matter the opponent.

Another Frosh (albeit redshirt) did that to us, btw.

Tyler Johnson continues to just baffle me. He can go 5 for 9 for 100 yards. 3 out of those 5 catches are "man" plays and the 4 drops are just plain Troy Williamson's.

The thing that baffles me is you outweigh a team by that much and you try to run quick hitters everywhere...i don't believe you are going to out--quick a team that is smaller than you?

No I formation, No Fullback, Single back....makes no sense.

PJ Fleck just seems like a slightly more polished Tim Brewster to me.

Agree. That's the gameplan they came up with??

Similarities between Brewster and Fleck begin and end with being excitable. Fleck can actually coach his players up.

There are no moral victories and there are no moral losses. Only one team out of that game 0-1.

I wasn't looking for a moral victory. I was more going for a "kick the shit out of a lower level team, at home, who was starting a Redshirt Freshman at QB".

I'm just saying there are no wins so bad that are considered a loss. Yes, they should have kicked the crap out of them. In stead we got the standard Gopher season opener. Hang on for dear life and barely avoid the upset against an inferior opponent.

I’m not as worried as most that we didn’t ‘kick the crap’ out of SDSU. People see FCS team from the sticks and automatically assume it’s easy. But this is a championship caliber FCS team. Close games against FBS teams and even upsets are not all that rare. It happens.

Yes a loss would been a huge setback. But they figured out a way to win and move on.

They’d better be ready for the next one though. Fresno State is a good program too. They regularly beat up on PAC 12 teams.

Look, I'm happy they "won" but it was really ugly and if they continue to play that way it's going to be another shitty season. That's all. We didn't beat them, they beat themselves with dumb penalties and really costly TO's.

I'm just being honest. We looked very unprepared. It's not like we run out a top 25 team yearly and this was one weird game. This is the new norm and it sucks.
