21-7 at half. No idea who wins but Wisconsin is making this top 4 very intereseting right now. They are paving the way for the committee to get it just like they want it:

1. LSU
2. Clemson
3. Georgia
4. Alabama

Damn, OSU did enough in the 2nd half to ruin the holiday party for the SEC committee. Err….I mean…the Committee

That would be the most significant bowl game for Minnesota since the early 60s right?

Been reading that too. Please God no. As much as I love this team I know they would get absolutly crushed unless Sabin plays mostly Frosh/Sophs.

Felt same
Didn’t want this team to have to face Ohio State or Alabama this year
Would have crushed our soul
Not ready for them yet

Actually Alabama is a bit down this year....OSU is the real deal. Wisconsin is playing really good right now. This is one of the best group of Big Ten teams in a while......I think Indiana and Illinois will be a handful in the mid bowls even.

I always love your optimism Phil. No joke about that.

That being said. Did you watch the LSU-GA game? I give you that isn't Alabama or even Auburn but oh my. Iowa and Wisconsin over powered our lines. We are making great strides but make no mistake. We aren't there yet. Auburn will be our biggest test of the year. Assuming, of course, they play their regulars.

LSU looked like they could beat any NFL team yesterday. It was shocking.

Yep, it's one thing to break through to the next tier. It's another thing to be one of the best within that tier.

I am not optimistic actually....Alabama is a bit down but LSU, Auburn, and GA are not a joke. I do think the Big Ten is up this year. Wisconsin used 5 lineman against the RPO with success and they are very good but OSU wore them down (something we didn't do)---I think we dominated Iowa in the 2nd half but got our assets handed to us in the 1st half.

We will have to score a lot against Auburn to have a chance.....best thing about bowl games is that Fleck can mix and match Redshirts in this game.

ESPN's take

Outback Bowl: Minnesota vs. Auburn

(1 p.m. on ESPN at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida) Jan. 1, 2020
I picked a Big Ten West team over Auburn last year and paid the price in humiliation. The availability of Derrick Brown and Auburn's defensive linemen is a question, and Minnesota could neutralize them with its RPO-based offense. But Auburn has played a much tougher schedule and boasts key talent advantages. Minnesota leads early behind big plays from Rashod Bateman, but Bo Nix and Auburn take control in the second half.
Prediction: Auburn 31, Minnesota 20

ESPN released its top 150 college football coaches of all time
This Gopher program used to be the shit.

#23 Lou Holtz (10-12 here, in '84 and '85)
#42 Fritz Crisler (one year here, 1930)
#65 Bernie Bierman (too low imo) 5 Natty Titles
#106 Henry Williams (136-33-11 in early 1900s) Outscored opponents 1,885 to 46 during a 35 game winning streak

How the hell does Fritz Crisler rate ahead of Bernie Bierman?

Have to hope Auburn loses a couple better players as well.

As I recall, a couple of starters blew off last year's bowl game too.

His numbers blew away the kid who won the national award for best DB
Case of strength-of-schedule playing into it I suppose
And bias against not being a traditional powerhouse.
He was a helluva player for us, imo.

Oh I’m not poo-pooing him

Maybe the last few gameplanned him better

I thought he had to cover more vs roaming around and making plays

If the best players are going to skip the bowl games they might as well not have them.

Can't the kids get an insurance policy or something to cover a major injury?

You work so hard to earn that bowl appearance and then skip it, doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I get the financial reasons, but it doesn't make sense. They could've gotten hurt just as easily in the last game of the season. If I was an NFL GM I would be leery of guys that do this. They obviously put themselves ahead of the team. That will happen at contract time too.
