I have a feeling the NCAA will make exceptions for players who made their decisions based on being shut down for covid.

If the goal is to recoup some of the lost revenues, they would be stupid not to.

Bateman the QUITTER wants back. Don't be so quick to hope he's allowed to be a 2020 Gopher!

He came back to his senses. Here's the report I found on RotoWorld. Could the Gophers be Big 10 Champs?

RASHOD BATEMAN
WR, MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS
Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel reports that Minnesota junior WR Rashod Bateman wants to opt back in for the 2020 season.
This would be a monster one for Gophers HC PJ Fleck and staff. Per Thamel, Bateman is currently back on campus in Minneapolis and enrolled as a full-time student after initially opting out of the campaign in favor of NFL Draft prep in early August. His change of heart comes days after the Big Ten reversed course on their initial postponement of the fall campaign. Just one hurdle to clear, though. Because the 6-foot-2, 210-pound Bateman hired an agent following his opt out, he'll need some form of NCAA clearance to return to the collegiate game. Bateman caught 60 passes for 1,219 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.

Yes, how dare he look out for his future.

Playing could be his best way of looking out for his future. He will show GMs that he is a team first kind of guy and continue getting excellent coaching and training from the Gophers staff. If I'm a GM picking between two guys in the draft and one was playing and dominating and the other was training on his own I would definitely give preference to the one who was playing and dominating. Sure there's some injury risk, but people have got injured training also. All in all I think playing is his best move for his future.

He will be welcomed back with open arms. As he should be. No program should ever hold a grudge against a player making decisions about his career.

I thought it could happen, but I didn't think it would happen.
I imagine he hires Jerry Maguire as his agent. Rashod says "Show me the Money" Jerry says "Sitting out the season training doesn't inspire people".
Rashod says "You want to see heart? I'm all about heart MFer"

Rashod will score the National Championship Winning TD while getting crushed between a LB and a CB. He will lay on the ground for a couple minutes not moving then get up and go into the craziest TD dance the worlds ever seen.
He goes #1 in the NFL Draft.

Or he suffers a crippling injury. Doesn’t get drafted and is out millions of dollars. It is 2020 after all.

Maybe he should get one of those insurance policies, just in case.

The lone good news in MN sports yesterday.

THe vikings going back to their facility may be good news for some. Like the Texans.

I guess no positive COVID tests was good news.

So that's 2

There are only 5 teams in the Top 25 that are yet to play a game.

Such is the life of a program like the Gophers. How quickly the media forgets them rolling up close to 500 yards on Auburn in January, who is rated #7. They outgained the Tigers by 262 yards in the game.

Here is the thing. One season like the Gophers had every 50 years isn't going to do more than raise a few eyebrows at the time. Come back and do it year after year and you get respect.

We're 2-3 games played behind many of the Top 25 - and we still came in at #28.

We win the first few and we'll be right back where we belong.
