Fun to see Jim Harbaugh getting toasted, I must say.

Soon to be ex-Michigan head coach.

His brother has had a much better run w/the Ravens.

Well he is a dick, you know.

Some can't change their spots/stripes or scent.

I came in expecting a Ferentz rant, Tim
Disappointed

What a TOTAL dick he was Friday night
Sucks that he has our number so bad, we can't say jack

But you'd think a guy who had THAT rough of an off-season, would keep it calm for awhile
Guess not
Can tell how worried he is about keeping his job
Not at all apparently

Ferentz is what he is ... which is to say he's a dick. If you don't want to listen to him being a dick then build a team that can beat him and kick his ass from one end of the field to the other.

So he either has to get fired or keel over for any hope of that happening.

The U should feel fortunate to not have to be embarrassed by Ohio State every year.

No, I don't agree with that. I think Fleck is capable of building a winner. It does take several years of good recruiting to build up that kind of depth though.

The whole Indiana feel-good story will get a reality check this weekend.
That's what OSU does, lets you know where you REALLY stand, in the big picture.

No, this is only his 4th season. When he took over, he didn't even have enough healthy offensive linemen to have a spring game. The depth was non existent. Any good recruits had their red shirts torn off and got put on the field as freshmen. Wisconsin and Iowa don't do that unless a kid is so good, he just forces his way on the field. Fleck was here long enough to recruit enough guys to supplement stars like Winfield, Coughlin, Martin, but not enough to supplement AND replace them. He's has had more success with offensive depth. It really takes more than 3 recruiting classes to get there.

Oh, silly me.

Guess that all that hype about a program that turned the corner after the NYD bowl win, preseason top 20, and the recent great recruiting classes influenced me into believing these types of seasons wouldn't happen any more.

Oh, I think the program definitely turned the corner when they won the bowl game and finished with a #7 ranking. That doesn't mean there aren't more steps and more corners before they are going to be at that level every year.

I think Wisconsin beats Northwestern. Both teams have great coaches, but Wisconsin has more talent. They have BEASTS on the OL again.
I like Fitzgerald. He does pull off upsets every year and their defense is salty, but Wisconsin looks very good to me. If their young QB performs they win IMO.

Obviously I follow 2 teams in College Football, Nebraska and Minnesota. Nebraska is very young on offense and not good enough to win more than a couple games this year. They are like Minnesota as Frost is rebuilding the entire offense. Hard to get great recruits with the brand of football they've played the last few years. It's going to take a couple more years is my guess. Frost has his dream job, but fans are already questioning his offense.

I expected more from Minnesota. Injuries hamper them as it does most teams, but they have a very good trio at QB, RB and WR. The defense is worse than I hoped and in definite need of more talent. Prior to the season I actually read speculation that Fleck could be gone soon. He was a HOT Coaching prospect. Last year was unbelievable IMO. Huge wins! That doesn't just happen. Depth is a problem and he does need more time. Looks like he will be around for some time now.

So we're looking at the same ending from 2 possibilities.

Win with the guys he recruits, and he's gone.

Lose with the guys he recruits, and he's gone.

Sounds about right. The cycle of up/down football, never a consistently winning program, will continue.

That's what I'm getting, too.
Being a decent college football team is so damn much fun
But it appears to be way too much to ask for
Frustrating as hell

Northwestern w/o the success

NW last bowl appearance 2018
4 straight years, after missing 2 years while rebuilding

Some sheep are ok with that type of pattern at the U.

Sad

Guess they should have held onto Glen Mason.
He was satisfied with a middle of the road record and a run of bowl games.

I loved that face
For all the reasons
Those were fun days, even tho we weren't that great
Do have to admit we almost got consistent under Mase
I wouldn't say consistently great, but we were consistently consistent
Could play with most, could lose to most, were in most games.
This right now, sucks worse than that

Sorry.
I honestly can't figure out what a good coach is anymore.
Fitzgerald to me is really good. Northwestern seldom has great talent, but usually performs above what I consider their talent. Chryst is looking impressive to me as well. They lose a lot of talent each year, but continue to be very tough.

Frost is supposed to be our savior and has a great track record, but Nebraska looks below average in execution and play calling right now. Probably just not much talent on the team.

Fleck looks pretty good to me at this point. His style may be grating to other coaches and/or fans but he looks to be a rising star. The Big Ten is such a tough conference to win in. So impressed the way the Gophers played last year. Will be interesting to see how they finish up this year. I think their Offense has so much talent.

The difference between Frost and Fleck at this point beyond what Frost did before Nebraska is that Frost has his dream job and I doubt Minnesota is Fleck's dream job.
