Clueless coaching, plain and simple. Keep changing Coordinators  as quickly as Baseball managers go thru a bullpen in a close game. Not going to make a program work that way.

But his coach is worthless and wasn't ready for that job. I do agree they need to get some consistency in the coaching staff

If this guy wasn't ready, then Clueless Brewster should have figured that out.

They say he is a good recruiter and he has found some talent, but he has no idea what makes a good coach. A HC is only as good as his assistants

He has no idea as a Head Coach. A major Maturi mistake.

IMHO Brewster is fine as a HC.  I've  been bitching all year that OC "dudd shitz" is so far over his head he makes the balloon boy parents seem rational.

And who hired him??????????????????

Brewster has made a few Denny Green choices on clock management also

Yep and he was too stupid to stick with Mike Dunbar who was one of the most successful OC's in Big Ten history. Instead he brings in Jed Fish who has all of the offensive acumen of Jed Clampet. Brewster has been a better recruiter than Mason according to all of the college football services. As an actual coach, Brewster is a moron wrapped in an idiot.

I just heard tonight that Tony Dungy has taken on a new role with the NFL - on some committee that brings players' concerns and grievances to the commissioner.

My first thought was - "Oh crap. That shoots down any hope, however tiny, that he might come back to coach the Gophers."

Lets look at the big picture ...
Iowa has had a wonderful season. Contending for the title all season, even making national noise.
If you watched the entire game Saturday like I did, you tell me .... how far behind them are we as fas as personnel on the field goes?
Our defense was as physical and as effective as Iowas (their strength)
Our St were as good or better
Our offenses were both pretty pathetic
Both QBs were brutal
Iowa had momentum from the season, they had HFA, they had every reason to crush a team they had crushed the year before.
They didn't. I'm still not sure I'd trade rosters. Probably would, only because Iowa will return most of their important players especially on D.
We have some athletes. We have some character.
Our approach ON THE FIELD is what has killed us, imo. Especially offensively. Our defense was very well-coached Saturday, imo.
Well-timed blitzes, confused an inexperienced QB.
Our offensive plan, on the other hand, was brutal. The runs into the pile, the pathetic routes, the confusion at crucial times.
Our HC has been a fantastic recruiter and he has instilled some positive attitudes. His choice for an OC is killing his chances, however.
It will be interesting to see what is done about the problem.

I don't see any possible way Brewster can bring Fisch back. Even Brew has to see that bringing him back would mean he's one step closer to being fired. IMO, it's unfortunate they're bowl eligible. At this point they're only going to turn off potential offensive recruits. What talent in his right mind would want to play in this offense?!

Some good stuff here.  Just remember that Iowa played there Freshman QB, not their experienced starter like we did.   They probably look better offensively with Stansi.  Also, I think they are far superior to us on the offensive line.

Seems like it's lose/lose.  The same terrible offense or yet another new system???
We better pray that Gray figures things out by next year and can dominate.  I don't see anything like that happening with our offensive line.

I dunno.  All the coaches say those extra 15 practices are huge.

I was thinking that also, but with all the recruits (not just offense) after this disappointing year.  Looks like we just lost a very highly rated kicker.  I think he changed his verbal to UCLA.  The RB Huff may be next.  I'll be shocked if we don't lose more recruits this year than what we steal away from other teams.

While I agree neither choice is ideal, it's the situation Brew got himself into by hiring such an incompetent offensive mind. For me, I'd much rather roll the dice on a new OC than pin my hopes on Fisch all of a sudden figuring out how to coach an offense and call effective plays.

Happy Thanksgiving to all Gopher fans out there ..... hopefully we'll have some good results to be thankful for soon.
We need a team to get our spirits up in the school.
Tubbys boys, maybe? The U needs a big winner. Not just a winner, a big winner.

Considering the offense seems to be getting worse as the year goes on and they have no one on the coaching staff who knows anything about running an effective offense, I'm not so sure that practicing is going to be that "huge" for them!

I told you guys a long while ago about Brewsters "Family Tree" and I was shouted down .

I still say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and that type of crap destroys chemistry , moral and cannot be hidden forever ! I think you are just seeing the beginning of a complete breakdown that will ultimately bring the whole program down a few notches and need to be rebuilt from the bottom up !

But that is just the opinion from an idiot that ACTUALLY knows the family and what they are like .

It is no mystery to me that he had to leave the northeast to go find a coaching job !!!

Well the Gophers got a bid to the Insight Bowl and this is the 3rd time they go to the bowl that the NFL network will cover and unless you have it, you don't get to see it. This is the only bowl game they do

We still control our own destiny to get in the Micronpc.com Bowl.

Too funny Matt

And in typical MN fashion, most fans will be ecstatic if they make it ....

The Gophers lose 2 recruits.

4 star RB Josh Huff switched to TCU ... ouch

3 star DB Antoine Lewis to Big Ten rival Purdue ... double ouch

Why would a 4-star kid go to U of M when TCU is unbeaten and in the BCS?

and Purdue over MN is an indictment of how rotten Brew's crew is.

Need to start over.

Yup. The one ace in the hole he still had was his recruiting.

If that's starting to slip, then there isn't much reason to keep him around.

They said on KARE 11 news tonight that Brewster's name is being mentioned for the KU job.

Interesting.

Maturi has heard the rumors and can't guarantee Brewster will return next year. Oh my God! What will we do if he takes Jed Fish with him?!

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_13953385?nclick_check=1

From the article:

Maturi said that if Brewster leaves, his first call would be to former Indianapolis Colts coach and ex-Gophers quarterback Tony Dungy.

WHY would K U be interested ina P U coach?  Would sure be nice tho.

Unofficial strib poll has 89% wanting him to go.No doubt, the sentiment against him has built up very quickly.

Look out for Gopher Nation !
