As much as I disagreed with Fisch, I would have liked to have seen if he could improve on the second year since these kids have seen to many OC already to have to start with a brand new one again

Watching Texas most of the night felt like watching the Gophers this season.
Getting the ball and KNOWING you will do nothing with it is completely demoralizing.
We'll never know how those teams match up. When your QB position offers you nothing in terms of production, you are simply screwed.
(no one knows this more than Minnesota football fans, we are experts)

My wife made a very astute point about the QB situation of Texas last night.

Her "Texas is supposed to be good right?".

Me "ummmm.  Yeah, why?"

Her "why are they so dramatically different at QB if that's supposed to be the most important position?  Shouldn't they have planned that better?"

Me "you rule."

Pretty simple but yet, dead on accurate.

Do we need to start a massive letter writing campaign to Tony Dungy to beg him to come and take over that program?

Toledo? They lost a stud WR

TO TOLEDO??

Yikes

Green becomes the sixth player to renege on an oral commitment to play for the Gophers, who still have 25 players in the 2010 recruiting class.
Channelview High School (Texas) receiver Chris Hawkins, a four-star prospect by Scout.com, is committed to Minnesota, but other schools still are recruiting him.

He'd rather play for a MAC school than the Goophers. That's just plain embarrassing.

I wonder if Henderson will commit to the Goophs.

A 4* leaving a big 10 program for Toledo? Sounds like more then Brewster. If he is that high of recruit he could have gone to other Big 10 schools or SEC. I could understand that. Maybe a good friend of his was already going to Toledo

Jim if it were an isolated case I would be inclined to agree. This is the 6th recruit to back out this year and it seems to be the top recruits that are the ones pulling out.

I think you're pretty close on this Fargo.  I read that Green couldn't get into the U.....and that his HS quarterback was the Toledo starter this year as a Freshman.  If true, it makes some sense.

The Huff decommit is a bigger deal now that Whaley is off the team.  I think those two are similar type backs.  Now we have neither.  But with Mike Leech fired from TT, maybe we can steal him back?

Also, I've heard the kicker was just waiting for a UCLA offer.  He probably never should have committed to to Minnesota in the first place, but 17-18 kids don't always do the smartest things.

The biggest loss may have been Gayden, the hometown left tackle.  We had him committed out of HS, but he didnt qualify and went to junior college.  I believe he recently signed with Auburn.  He likely would have have stepped right into a starting spot here.

It sucks to lose all these guys, but not terribly surprising to me after the season we had.   Who knows, maybe we can rebound a little before signing day.

Maybe the issue is that the only 4 stars Brewster can get to commit are ones with some baggage.

Here is a challenge to Brewster.

Tim if you are the recruiter that you are suppose to be, 5 big time recruits have decided not to stay with Tenn. Go see if you can get 2 of them

SI'com's early 2010 top 25

includes

UTAH
CAL
OREGON STATE
CINCY
and

HOUSTON

Come on Maturi. Admit you missed on a coach and chase one of the small school stud coaches. Look to D2 for a top coach if you can't pull this off.

If the schools above, NONE known for FB prowess over a consistent time frame, can get to the top 25, then why can't Minny?

Are the admissions to the U too tough? Nope, granted they're a challenge to some kids.

COACHING, IMO, plain and simple.

Despite all his rah-rahs, the U is nothing more than an afterthought in football. Even with a nice new stadium.

The U will have a competitive football program until they are willing to pay for a good coach and a good staff. They improved when the ponied up for Mason who had a track record of turning programs around, but Brewster was an attempt to get a coach on the cheap. Roof left the U to take a job he was making more as a DC than Brewster was as the HC here.

Finally.  He totally mucked up our season.  Now comes the big question of who replaces him.  How that guy gets a gig as a QB Coach is mind boggling.  I'm applying for the first ST coordinator job on the market.  You obviously don't need any real qualifications anymore.

Has a position ever regressed so much? Or at least bogged down?
Our QB play was horrendous.
I don't like Texas, but I felt bad for them, because in the title game, they got to experience exaclty what it feels like to have NO chance, because your QB play is putrid.
And its a terrible feeling.
Weber has played in over 40 Major College Football games, people. Thats ridiculous.
It should have been our position of strength, its was by far our weakest (imo)

Damn.

I was really hoping he'd get that same job, but with the Bears.

I'd like to see if he could mess up Cutler's mechanics as badly as his head .

Looks like two more recruits bailed out (a couple of Texas kids).  Rumors that grades may have played a part....

I heard Josh Heupel interviewed for the OC job.  I wonder if he could do anything with Weber??

I see the Gophers losing 3 star recruits while So Car and Tenn losing 4 star. We have to remember these are kids and it is hard for them to stay committed. It might have more to the culture then anything else
