Gophers ALMOST let Northwestern beat themselves but then they remembered who they are.

A very winnable game. What I think was the cause of the loss was right at the end. Right after Weber ran for the big 4th down, they run it. Unless they were in FG range already, they can't run it. That told NW what was going to happen. I blame Horton for the loss even though he had some great calls during the game.

It seems like Weber has an inordinate amount of game clinching INTs.

GoooooooooooooooooD morning guys.... It's 3am so maybe I'm really missing something here as I watch the game.
What an absolute joke in the final 2 minutes.
I hear the tv guys talking about all this experience and all I see rush, panic, hope and prayer.  And obviously not enough prayer.
It really looked as though the team had never prepared for this situation.

And while it's only the first game I've been able to watch this year, by all accounts this team just does not look prepared to play.
You have to think at the end of the game there, with that king-size man-hug, Fitzgerald knew this was goodbye and good luck Timmy next year.

He may be an energetic and likable guy, and I think there really is enough talent to compete better than what's been shown.  Which simply means the coach has not coached!

Of course, again it's 3 something in the morning, I'm probably just annoyed at staying up to watch a loss.

Off to bed guys, NCAA hockey is on via the computer in about 5 hrs.
We love the leader, errrr the internet!!

Cheers.

It is absolutely heart-breaking to watch the great things going on in college football, and then have to watch what we do.
The ingenuity, innovation, creativeness, excitement, and success going on all over, in almost every game but the ones we play in ... is what makes it so frustrating.
MichState pounds you with the ball, you swear they cannot do anything else, yet they winn their biggest games with a couple incredible calls this year, fake field goals and 4th-and goal passes.
Its called having wonderful coordinators who LIVE to coach the game and prepare for every situation.
We don;t see it here on Saturday, and we don't even see it on Sunday.
THAT is honeslty all I want to see from my teams ... the best prepared team we can be, one who is ready for whatever sitaution arises ... instead we have staffs of unprepared idiots from the looks of it.
When our guys are confronted with 4th and goal late, or 3rd and long, they are clueless, like they never anticipated it may happen.
EVERY other Big Ten team gets it ... even Indiana fer chrissakes today answered every challenge that faced them late.
The talent IS better here, it is now simply the difference between having a well-prepared staff with bright ideas and gameplans, and not having them. And we do not have one.
Simply throwing receivers out into patterns and hoping for completions does not work.
Games are won and lost late, with innovative calls that keep the chains moving. That ends up winning games.
But, by all means ..... lets just keep pounding away and being vanilla, with players who are not more talented than our opponents. Like that will work.
Frustrating!
We didn't play better today, we didn't give the game away ... NW was the much better team. They made many more mistakes than they normally do, even in critical situations, and we were fortunate they did.
But once we did have a chance to win, the typical old MN attitude cursed us again ... "lets try to hang on", instead of, "hey, we're lucky to be where we are, let's make some plays and get a big win". Just another sad end to another sad week for the Brew Crew. I feel bad for the kids. I always feel bad for the kids. You know they work hard and want to do well. Its sad they never get rewarded.

I have forgotten how wonderful the game of College FB can be until the past couple weeks .... of watching OTHER teams play it. It sucks that we do not have that going for us, in our nice new building.

It's all about finding right players to fit your system instead of getting players and hope they can opperate in the system

It would be easier for him to find player to fit his system if he had a system and stayed with it.
It seems like every year there is something new and or different.
So far the only constant has been a decline in performance and soon attendance.

Correct. At least the 1st recruiting class was for running a spread offense and gray was suppose to be part of that.

If the Badgers don't win this one going away, I'm going to be upset.

Shouldn't be a problem as the defense is as bad as it was under Mason

Way to fall apart after a promising start. Horrible 3rd and 4th down plays.

I do like the uniforms.

What on earth happened there? Last I knew Wisconsin was (supposedly) running out the clock, so I went upstairs for a pop.....I come back down, and they are lining up for a FG attempt? ???

Would anything feel better than coming back from 19 points down in the 4th quarter against Bucky? It might be a sweet enough feeling to make this season a success.

We've blown about a million opportunities so far this game.

This would be a decent team with actual coaching.

Has a Gopher head football coach ever been fired mid-season? If not, there's a first time for everything. Brewster simply needs to go. They are showing no improvement. The sooner we get him out of here and get someone new to take over, the better. It's embarrassing.

Couple nice plays by the Gophers. Now let's see more of it.

I'm racking my brain trying to remember when Adam Weber looked like the best QB in the Big 10 (that's what the color announcer just said).

Unfreakin' believable. 3rd and 7, and the Badgers run it...........and we not only allow a 1st down, but probably a TD.
